Re: 1:40pm Lightningsday, 7th week 852

DAI is getting pretty annoyed with this, his spells weren't nearly as effective as they had been and he was...running out of options. Sighing, he throws forward one last blast of magical Stone, it was his last hope, but the rock he conjured was a little smaller then his fist.

15:45, Today: DAI rolled 19 using 2d12+8. damage. 0 MP/54.
15:45, Today: DAI rolled 18 using 1d20+6. last stone.
Rough terrain in the 2 squares left of him.

Re: 1:40pm Lightningsday, 7th week 852

DAI's spell hits the giant in the forehead, further injuring it.

RAIF winks out of view and reappears immediately, spear thrusted into the giant's side between the kinks of its armor.
17:49, Today: teslas, on behalf of RAIF, rolled 2,10 using 1d4,3d6. damage.
17:48, Today: teslas, on behalf of RAIF, rolled 29 using 1d20+10. invis flank spear vs. giant.

Its large eyes roll back into its head. It slowly falls over nearly crushing DAI as it lands. RAIF looks at his spear then back at the giant, and then let's out a loud holler of joy.

17:51, Today: teslas, on behalf of SILI, rolled 3 using 1d2+2. Requiem damage.

Initiative preserved to deal with how you handle his death or non-death. RAIF/GRIM/ZEIG aren't PC's, so they won't say much, but you can ask for their opinions.

Round 13:
18: RAIF
18: Giant
10: SILI
 9: GRIM
 9: ZEIG  - light source: 20'/20'
 9: DAI

DAI, exhausted, cannot help but mimic RAIF's holler of joy. He then takes a moment, looking down at the Giant. "I...really don't feel like killing him...think maybe he'd forget this whole thing if we spare him?" DAI pats a potion of Cure in his backpack as he talks, guessing ZEIG was running on empty like himself at this point.

GRIM isn't for slaying it as it lies there helpless. He'd rather take anything magical or worth selling, destroy its armor, weapon, and shield, throw the pieces of which in the river, and then leave it to its fate here.

ZEIG is on the fence, though looks apprehensive. He also reminds you it said something about being paid to find them, so that might be worth thinking about.

RAIF says kill it. He'll kill it. He'll kill it right now, no problem. Do you want him to kill it?

Re: 1:40pm Lightningsday, 7th week 852

DAI shakes his head, eventually deciding to pour a cure Potion down the Giant's throat after he had bled a little more, to avoid him getting back up just this second. "Maybe I'm crazy, but I just got a gut feeling that he should stay alive..." DAI began to wonder if he only hated halflings and goblins at this point, he didn't really hold any ill intent against giants that were as smart as this one, and he even showed a level of honor in waiting for them to be ready.

EDIT: Dai then suggests they set up camp off the road and forward a ways, so they can continue tomorrow. He uses a tent from his Haversack.

10:06, Today: DAI rolled 5 using 1d8+1. cure potion, after 3 rounds.

ZEIG spends some time crafting(with DAI aiding)
13:51, Today: DAI rolled 22 using 1d20+15. ZEIG craft alch Cure potion.

DAI tries to make a potion of Haste once more, with ZEIG's help.
13:52, Today: DAI rolled 29 using 1d20+15. DAI craft alch Haste potion.
(Think I actually managed to make it this time)

Before you go, god, it's like you've never played D&D before.

GRIM sets to work breaking the giant's club and shield with his axe, though he decides to leave its armor in-tact, mostly for the sake of not having to attempt to remove it or get too near the unconscious giant.

RAIF suggests rummaging through the giant's belongings, eying a large ring on one of its fingers.

DAI doesn't really object to the breaking of his weapons, but is questioning if they should take the ring...since his whole plan was to get the Giant to not wanna kill them anymore. He eventually concedes, letting RAIF pull it off and having ZEIG identify it with all his spare time before they rest.

Angel Ring

It will resize to fit the wearer (as 99% of all magic rings do), though it weighs one pound, unlike normal rings (as 99% of all "weightless" equipment made for giants usually does).

Grants immunity to Sleep spells and effects.
Doubles the countdown time for the Doom status to a minimum of three rounds and a maximum of one minute.

The time isn't going to quite work out how you've described for alchemy and identifying, but I'll set the clock right. Between the tent and the weather there's no reason to even roll your random encounter for the night--lucky for you.

And there's one important thing you're forgetting about, see below.

As the party finishes hurling the shards of the giant's club and shield into the river, RAIF points out that the entire reason they came was for the grain, which is now sitting on two sleds that the party no longer has chocobos to pull.

I suggest making Grim, Zeig and Raif pull it. Alternately, you can spend the mp to get more chocobos. Unless you're out of MP?

Re: 5:30am Lightsday, 8th week 852

DAI, be sure to take the tent and the potion you gave the giant off of your character sheet.

DAI pitches his tent in the driest spot he can find. That is to say, the spot with the least amount of standing water.

GRIM walks over to the giant, says sorry for some genuine reason, then smacks it in the head with the flat of his axe a few times. Nonlethal damage.

At around 10pm the rain stops falling, and several hours after that the clouds disperse. The giant's snoring would be impossible to bear and rest through without the aid of the magical tent blocking the majority of the sound.

The party is ready to go before the Lightsday sun fully rises. ZEIG informs everyone of what the giant's ring does.

DAI and ZEIG have made two new potions as well. ZEIG hands the Cure potion to DAI since he recently used one of his. The Cure potion is caster level 2nd due to being brewed on Lightsday.

And before we go on, and because I am nice, doesn't one of the two of you have some songs to play before people go to bed? And then something to do when people wake up?

DAI stretches, and informs everyone that they do only have one tent left. He keeps ahold of the Haste Potion for now, just because he's not sure who would benefit most from it. DAI uses his circlet to create one Chocobo, and he makes another. Thinking on it he wonders if he should have the ring, in case of another situation where he has to Sleepga everything around him, or perhaps ZEIG should use it, so the healer never falls asleep(in case he fumbles a will save).

OOC: Of course GRIM would, but he's leaving so nah :p

Re: 6:00am Lightsday, 8th week 852

Everyone eats some rations (except ZEIG). The grain bags on the sleds appear to have kept most of the water out, but it's obvious that some of the grain will be ruined.

GRIM smacks the giant in the head with the flat of his axe again before going over to the chocobos and tying the rope strands back together, and then the chcocobos to the makeshift sleds. He then has to help them yank the things out of the mud they've sunk into.

Each rope has taken 1 point of damage, and may suffer more by the time the party arrives.

Eventually, everyone is ready to go.

Re: 12:30pm Darksday, 8th week 852

The party makes good time for the day and on into the next. DAI summons two chocobos, using his circlet for one, as before.

About a half-mile away from the village, RAIF runs off down the path to let everyone know you're coming. As the four of you pull the sleds into a clearing, around 65 halflings await above you with smiles on their faces. You are given quite a few pats on the backs and cheers from everyone as you climb up toward the houses.

The village is built into, around, and onto the sides of trees. There are a myriad of wooden walkways suspended by ropes 30-60' above the ground which all surround an impressively-sized clearing that looks to hold a huge garden. Most of the pathways are comfortable enough to walk across, though GRIM in his armor may feel a bit unsteady in a few places. You are told nearly two hundred halflings call this place their home. There is a large ramp that the chocobos drag the sleds to.

The smell of warm pies and roasting poultry meets everyone's noses, and you are led for an evening of discussion and merriment in a rather large (for halflings) hall of sorts built on a platform attached to two massive trees 60' off of the ground.

Going to assume that DAI and ZEIG blow most of their cantrips to cast Purify on the grain to dry it out.

Who's gonna wear the angel ring?

While there are no official shops here, they may have some things for sale. Ask about standard items and more may be available with the appropriate Gather Information check. They might also buy some things of yours (like that gold and silver dinnerware you probably won't be able to lug around without GRIM).

Everyone gains 500 EXP for returning the large portion of the halfling's grain stores.
