Re: 10:40am Iceday, 7th week 852

DAI will take a few moments to slit some goblin throats with his dirty dagger, least he can do to repay them. After that he heads inside with the others, noting the chest. "Anyone wanna try breaking this lock off?" DAI kicks the chest, looking over to GRIM, who had the strongest arm. DAI also asks ZEIG for a Basuna, since he was feeling a little woozy from an earlier attack.

Re: 10:45am Iceday, 7th week 852

DAI tries his best to keep his hands clean of still-warm blood as he walks from goblin to goblin. ZEIG looks on him with a bit of a disgusted look, though it's hard to tell if it's from the goblin's blood or the act itself.

RAIF kneels down in front of the chest, removes a small set of fine tools, and starts fiddling with the lock.

ZEIG gives DAI the once over and determines that he, in fact, was in need of Restore.
06:35, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 18 using 1d20+6. Heal.
06:42, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 4 using 1d4. Restore -> DAI, Constitution. MP: 34/53
DAI feels the blood flow back into his extremities.

After a few minutes, the lock on the chest pops open. RAIF comments that it would have been off in about three seconds if it wasn't so full of rust then repacks his set of tools. Inside you see a collection of 11 Cure potions piled up to one side and assorted silver and gold cutlery and dining-ware in a sack on the other. Most of it is bent or folded and a few pieces look as if they have teeth marks in them. Appraise. All in all the collection weighs around 75 lbs.

Re: 10:45am Iceday, 7th week 852

Sili looks around, hoping to see the sled it was brought in with. He'll also take a look at the broken door, to see if it could be repaired or re-purposed as a sled.

EDIT: Not actually doing anything yet, just checking.

GM Edit Skill Check Result-
For starters that kind of stuff is common sense, but could be augmented by appropriate skill checks. Secondly, Know (architecture and engineering) is probably your better bet for both of these, so I'll roll that.

18:28, Today: teslas, on behalf of SILI, rolled 8 using 1d20+3. Knowledge (arch & engi).

The door to the palisades is a flimsy collection of disproportionately-sized logs poorly tied together with vines and old hempen rope. You would not trust it to be able to be drug along the ground over rocks and logs for any amount of time before falling to pieces.

You are confident, however, that the group of you could fashion another sled out of some logs if you have a sufficient supply of rope. You haven't found any inside of the goblin encampment yet, and, judging by what you've seen so far, you're not likely to find any length of it in good condition.

Re: 10:45am Iceday, 7th week 852

GRIM isn't sure if he should be frowning or disgusted so he ignores what Dai is doing and sees if he can procure a worg pelt.

GM Edit Skill Check Result-

It's Craft (appropriate) DC 8 to rip the skin off of one of these worgs and keep it in a single piece. It will take 30 minutes to attempt to do (less if you beat the DC by a lot). You don't have any craft skill, so there's no need to name what it is. So, here goes nothin'.

GRIM sets to work trying to peel a worg skin from one of the four dead animals. The worg that is cut in half is a poor candidate, but the other three could work. GRIM drags them near the open door of the palisades, picks one at random, and gets started.
17:23, Today: teslas, on behalf of GRIM, rolled 12 using 1d20. Craft (worg-peeling).
This will keep you occupied for 30 minutes, though if you're interrupted you can resume activity with no issue.
By the end of the process, GRIM is covered in iron-rich worg blood, but has the pelt of it removed. Apart from a couple tattered edges, he's pleased with the quality of the skin and fur.

DAI will shake his dagger clean, putting it away after he spends some time using Pretidigitation to clean himself off, and anyone else that wants it while he has the spell active(like GRIM, perchance). He then takes a spot off to the side, seeming a little proud of the fight...which admittedly did not look so bright early on.

Sili takes out his silk rope and begins tying the logs together to fashion a makeshift sled. He takes 10 on use rope, for a total of 17 (+2 for silk rope) He tries to make one that is no more than 10 ft. by 10 ft. but large enough to carry all of the grain and valuables. He also tries to use as many logs that are about the same size as possible.

Re: 11:15am Iceday, 7th week 852

10'x10' is rather huge to try dragging down forest paths. Let's stick with 8'x5'.

SILI's sled comes out rather well, suprisingly. It'll hold at least half of the bags of grain and can easily be tied to a willing chocobo or other beast of burden. The sled and its ropes to tie to a chocobo consume all 50' of your rope. To keep the bags of grain on the sled will require more rope, but that can be found in the camp.

GRIM has finished skinning his worg, and now has a pelt that weighs 6lbs.

Meanwhile, RAIF was helping both SILI and GRIM as they needed it, while DAI and ZEIG are keeping watch. All three find a moment to further look around the camp.
19:01, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 12 using 1d20+2. Search.
18:58, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 6 using 1d20+4. Search.
19:03, Today: teslas, on behalf of RAIF, rolled 28 using 1d20+13. Search.

RAIF, crawling up out of one of the holes, finds an old scroll case. Opening it, everyone sees a scroll tied with a faded string.

He also finds over 100' of slightly rotted rope, but it should be fine enough for tying grain to a sled for a few days' travel.

Re: 11:15am Iceday, 7th week 852

Again, Sili takes 10, this time for a total of 15.

Will the rope be reusable once we're finished with the sled? Assuming it doesn't spontaneously combust or something?

Sili stands up and looks around. "The halfling settlement will welcome us back, but there's a chance we could get ambushed by the goblins we let live on the way. Still, I think moving quickly would be our best bet."

Re: 11:15am Iceday, 7th week 852

The rope will be recoverable but has a 50% chance to take one point of damage from being drug around and rubbed up against so much. (Silk rope has a hardness of 0 and 4 hit points. Hemp rope has 2 hit points, and the rotten rope only has 1 hit point.)

What are you taking 10 on? There are no chocobos to which to tie the sled. Tying down half of the grain sacks with the rotten rope, then? Solved in OOC.

RAIF seems to agree with SILI and helps him tie the bags of grain to the sled. I am going to assume GRIM is helping by carrying bags over for them.

Loading up the sled will take ten minutes. You still have half of the grain to load up onto something if you'd like. If you have more rope, you can use that to make another sled. Or, you can put it all on a chocobo with some more rope. Carrying and dragging it all will put a yellow chocobo at its limit, but it can do it with not a single pound to spare. If DAI spends the MP (and takes off his necklance) he can summon a green one which is a bit stronger and will have less of a problem (although it will still be at a heavy load).

Either way, a chocobo laden in such a way will have a movement speed of 25'.

Re: 11:15am Iceday, 7th week 852

If anyone else has any length of rope to spare in order to tie the sleds to chocobos, Sili will use his other 50 ft. of rope to make another sled of similar proportions (17 for the sled and 15 for holding the grain, again).

Re: 11:45am Iceday, 7th week 852

Let's just assume you use your other length of rope to speed this up. Subtract both from your character sheet. You can re-add them when the sleds are disassembled. There's plenty of rotten rope to tie down more grain.

SILI gets to work making another sled so that all of the grain isn't on one chocobo. At least the giants, goblins, snakes, wolves, and whatever else will have to get both of them to starve the halflings.

DAI and ZEIG remain on watch. The process takes less time now that SILI has done it once before and GRIM is there to help. After 30 more minutes, the second sled is fashioned, loaded, and ready to go.

The noon-day sun rises over head, shining nearly directly down into the middle of the goblin camp. GRIM picks up the sack of gold and silver and slings it over his shoulder.

All of the timber from the doors has been used. There is simply a 10'-wide gap in the palisade walls. All of the grain is loaded onto the sleds.

Re: 11:55am Iceday, 7th week 852

Unfurling the scroll as gently as he can while on watch, DAI discovers it to be a scroll of Fire II, on the verge of disintegrating from age. There are some runes and writing on it that look much different than he's used to, and SILI identifies some of them as being written in Undercommon or a similar alphabet.

Tying the chocobos to the sleds doesn't take long, and the party is ready to go where they may. SILI takes a 10 on both again.

Once everyone's ready, Sili will get moving in the direction of the halfling village.

At which point we'll drop off Raif and probably rest for a while.

One thing, did Dai ever fix the sacks? because otherwise we'll be leaving a trail of grain for the goblins to follow.

DAI uses mending on the sacks.

He also seems inclined to use the roads...as he won't be able to handle fighting off bears and shit on the way to the encampment every day(though I would love the XP).

Re: 6:00pm Iceday, 7th week 852

ZEIG gladly includes DAI's scroll in his case and adds that he, too, is waiting until he's able to successfully master his own scroll of Life.

DAI and ZEIG spend a few cantrips each patching up holes in the bags before setting off. Actually, a while ago, but yeah. The chocobos seem willing and able to pull the sleds without too much difficulty.

The route basically involves back-tracking for a day and a half back up to the river, going a ways, then heading southward into the forest again.

The party leaves after spending about an hour and a half at the small fort. The pace at first is brisk. By the end of the day the chocobos are getting tired and the party is back along the side of the river.

You can choose to press on if you like, with CON checks and all that. There's really no penalty for trying, apart from maybe being Fatigued if you're attacked during the night.

The party moves off of the road a slight bit, making decent progress for the day. A tent and fire are pulled out of the Survival Pouch and the sun begins to set in the distance filling the sky with a light blue hue.
