Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

I can say that I can't possibly see how that could have been anything but the best decision your character was likely to have been able to make before beginning his adventuring career.

In other news, I failed to mention that the light seemed to disappear behind a barrier to the left, the side the fortress is on. Whether or not you want to go that way or away from that way is a different matter entirely.

Post in-character or here on what you'd like to do next, or continue to talk about it in-character because roleplaying and stuff. As usual, 3 people commenting on a situation and coming to some sort of half-consensus is enough to move everyone along.

Yeah re-reading the last couple pages has been delayed a bit, I am home now and will get started on it though.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Thanks for the heads up.

Fighter hasn't changed at all. Mighty Strikes is going to change, though, but in my opinion it's for the better. Summary:

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
No more auto-crit. #1: that's stupid good, and does not compare well with different weapons (IE longswords vs. heavy picks). #2: it's useless on 40% of the enemies in the game.

So, now:

-A static +damage equal to half of your character level with melee/thrown weapons.
-Ignore 2 points of natural armor (if any)
-Ignore 5 points of the target's DR, or half of their DR, whichever is higher, if any.
-Critical threats automatically do double damage. (Meaning a confirmed critical would increase it further still, IE: if you threat with a greataxe, 2x damage. If you then confirm, 4x damage (remember, in D&D, 3x + 2x = 4x).)

This #1: Makes it less auto win vs. some enemies, #2: Makes it useful against everything, which Limit Breaks should be, and #3: Closes the gap between weapon types.

The ignoring DR is pretty great, especially for Fighters that went down the TWF fighting route, although those are probably rare. The ignoring of natural armor is an underhanded method of giving an attack bonus. Most of the enemies in FF1 are monsters. Most monsters have natural AC. Fighters don't really need help hitting anything, though, unless they are making iterative attacks or power attacking, which, you know, fighters tend to do when they can.

Just get back into the fold when you can. If you can't be present if combat occurs, I can take your turns for you if it's been longer than 12 hours. I promise that you will not die unless at least two other people do (no promises if Garus directly attacking SILI is required to make that happen).

Sorry it's taking me so long. The beginning of classes this year is really time consuming for some reason.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

I will be traveling Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I will be able to read the game from my phone, but posting is a fucking pain, and I do not have the time or patience to make a post with a map and private threads while there. I can respond to simple questions, and probably dialogue, however.

Also, if any of you have some favorite spots in Prague, I'll take some tips.

Not sure if I'd put this here or in mechanics, but this is a feat from a book I know you're not fond of. It didn't seem overly powerful, and could get a lot of use out of my own Sleep or making enemies more susceptible to Bard songs.

So yeah... this okay? Not even sure I definitely want it, but it sounded somewhat useful.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

In normal D&D, that's a fairly decent spell effect for sorcerers that have limited spells known and that also utilize a spell or two that allows a save (which is a bad idea normally for vanilla D&D).

In this system, there are already several ways to lower someone's Will save. For you, Bio and Shock. For white mage, Fear. For red mage, Bio and Fear.

So, for 3 MP, you can jam a -2 penalty to something's Will saves for three rounds. In this system, that's actually incredibly good. This system relies a lot more on spells that allow saves, especially with a bard in the party.

If it were in a real source, since this is a playtest, I'd say definitely, take it and let's see even though I wasn't sure about it.

Since it's in that book... no, I think it's probably a bit too good for only 3 more MP--especially since Sleep is a first level spell and works on a creature with any amount of HD.

That's a pretty damn good feat, though, especially for a sorc that likes to make use of Dominate Person or has someone else that does.

edit-
Also, this thread is fine for questions like that, so is OOC. Mechanics would have worked, too.

Alright kids, this is probably my last post until late, late Sunday or Monday. Have a good weekend.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Hey kids, back in Belgium. I am in my nearly-daily Dutch class at the moment. When I get home, lunch and then straight to my afternoon of helping tear down some walls for my girlfriend's dad as he's remodeling. That is likely also going to be my afternoon for the next two days.

I'll post when I can snag a second.

Quick, the game ZEIG is GM'ing is going to slow down for a bit because his life is sucking; now's our chance to beat the shit out of his paltry post count. Move it, kids, move it.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

DM, move them into the damn basement already.

On a side note, my time is somewhat limited, and due to Garus/JAGA being MIA, and the other three guys already in a game with me, I've, obviously, let this one slow down again.

In other news:

"Increased the "reason for roll" text length (from 40 to 100).  Added hanging indent for when lines wrap in the log."

Fuck yeah. Awesome.

"Fixed oversized font size for Firefox in the compose window (and possibly others)."

This actually fucks up my window I think. Now the text is super tiny, and my blind, old ass can't see it for shit.

Just a heads up on the status of everyone:

My life is calming down a bit, but it's by no means free-time heavy. Since I already play in another game with three of you bastards, this game will remain on hold unless GAGA or Garus comes back and expresses an interest to play actively. If they do, then we totally will.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Given we got about a foot of snow yesterday and the roads are iced all to hell, not sure how much longer I can claim my status as 'living'. This is the NW... we don't get this kind of snow and low-teens temperatures, currently snowed in at a friend's house, don't really have a way to get home right now.
