Gonna go nap before I go out drinking.

Have fun slowly destroying your liver :D

Not that I can complain, my brother is making his own homebrew...coming together rather nicely.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Hey Rules Lawyer, question for you...both by RAW and general opinion:

If I had an animated flask/bottle filled with a potion, could I order it(vocally, free action) to on its next round pour the potion into my mouth? It would have a climb speed so holding onto my face in the middle of combat isn't an issue.

EDIT: Way I see it is you're either paying X000gp for a refillable potion speed-drinker, or spending a 6th level spell for a single potion to go faster...either way it doesn't seem that unbalancing, but that isn't always the deciding factor.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

The only way that any creature, object, or whatever else could possibly cause you to drink a potion when it is not your turn is if you are unconscious.

You, your character/creature/etc, must spend the Standard action to drink a potion that you have at the ready.

So if I am understanding you correctly, no, your idea will not work out of the gate by virtue of breaking this rule before you even get to the point of considering whether or not an animated object of the right shape could be told to do such a thing.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Hmm, but I could have one tasked with pouring a potion down my unconscious throat? Or to at least climb up so I only have to spend the standard action and not fish it out of my pack?

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

If you specifically animate an object to stay latched on to the side of your head and feed you a potion when you're ready to drink it, just buy a fucking potion bladder for like 50 gold out of Drow of the Underdark and get the exact same result without any of the fuss.

Could you also task it to automatically apply the potion to you when you fall unconscious? After all of that effort, I'd say yeah, you probably could.

Would having this thing attached to the side of your face and climbing around cause some sort of undesirable consequence, such as an armor check penalty, penalty to spot/listen, or taking up your actual face equipment slot? Maybe, though that is up to the DM.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Well in those instances it would be more of a "when I fall unconscious climb out of my belt pouch and feed me a potion while other people are fighting, hopefully not CDGing me" sort of thing, it wouldn't be latched onto my face the whole time in that instance.

Potion bladder though...dunno what that is but it sounds weird, and weird fits the character.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

It's a slotless piece of equipment that has a waterskin jimmy-rigged to a straw that sits in your mouth. You can drink a potion as a Standard action that's stored in the bladder without provoking AoO. It costs less than 100 gold I'm pretty sure.

Pretty sweet. Those crafty drow are crafty.

Slotless, as in I can have 10(half kidding)?

I figured it was something you like, implanted inside of you to drink a potion as a swift action but takes like X minutes to refill through some special pressure pump kit or wahtever, that might be a liiitle complex for DnD tech though.

It's getting to be close to my bedtime, kids. We made some good progress today. After this fight there's really nothing scheduled or probable (assuming that you don't fight this guy 20 more times) between you getting to the halfling encampment and now.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Yeah, losing momentum in an RPG of any decent size pretty much kills it for me most of the time. That's why I've gotta finish Witcher now. If I go through ME 1, 2, and 3, there's no way I'll ever come back to it and remember everything.

No more army. Minimum 6 months grace but I don't think I could do it if I went back. Damn gout.

I should be around for a long time this time.

Huzzah! Viladin also sounded happy that you were back when I talked to him earlier. We joked about you coming back as Karel the Skald, hardened from his...days...of adventuring on his own(and that he likely got the highest form of fortification possible).

Ha, maybe. I probably won't be able to catch up on the main thread tonight. The friend that was supposed to.pick me up from the airport is in the hospital with appendicitis so I'm gonna visit her after I get back in.

She's doing alright. We ended up talking about a campaign we've been cowriting for a few months cause I did a ton of work son it while sitting on the sidelines waiting to be discharged from the army.

Did they at least pay you for all that time of theirs you wasted?

And is this going to be a real-life campaign or are you going to do it on play-by-post?

K. Good.

We'll get crackin' when I get done with work today. Good to have you back, ZEIG.

Right now it's team magic. This should be hilariously... awful. At least you'll learn Life soon.

Re: OOC: Literally, Everything Else Ever

Yup, I got paid for all that time.  And they could have paid me for 2 months less, they're just slow as hell.

Campaign is probably going to be play-by-post since I don't know anyone around here that I'd want to play DnD with.  It still has a lot of work to go through though.  Even after I finish it I need to play test some home brew monsters and see if they're lol or not.
