Re: 9:45am Iceday, 8th week 852s

DAI seemed a little miffed about the chain. "Well...I weakened it a bit, and SILI has proven pretty good at replenishing my magics so far-Thanks for that by the way-so I'm willing to try a couple more..." DAI then takes a moment to line up his shot again, firing another blast of stone at the weakened link, it does nothing, a second proves just as effective. Reasonably miffed, DAI grumbles and walks away from the blasted chain.

13:51, Today: DAI rolled 19 using 2d10+8. need to do 26 to break it.
13:50, Today: DAI rolled 10 using 1d20. last shot.
13:50, Today: DAI rolled 15 using 2d10+8. Once more!
13:50, Today: DAI rolled 6 using 1d20. did I miss?

Re: 9:45am Iceday, 8th week 852s

DAI sends some more stones off into the gap under the door that break apart. The chain holds firm, though it is now damaged.

You're using a level one spell to essentially hit an iron chain with a (rather powerful) wooden spoon. Next time just spend the MP on a level 2 or 3 spell, damn it. After Conserve MP you might even end up spending less total mana.

Re: 9:45am Iceday, 8th week 852s

ZEIG peers into the clinic, holding his staff first. It's about twice the size as the black mage scroll scribe, though unlike the clinics you might be used to in Cornelia and Elfheim, there seems to be a small waiting room 10'x15' and then a long hallway with many small rooms.

The waiting room has a desk and several chairs, though most are overturned and/or partially damaged while being spread all about. No light appears to be coming from inside.

ZEIG steps in with DAI following.
20:02, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 9 using 1d20-4. Spot.
20:02, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 12 using 1d20-1. Spot.
20:01, Today: teslas, on behalf of SILI, rolled 13 using 1d20+4. Spot.
20:29, Today: teslas, on behalf of SILI, rolled 8 using 1d20+5. MILO Spot

As SILI moves to follow them, he feels an odd prickly sensation on his back which quickly turns to horrible pain.

Attack roll hidden for sekret mystery fight.
20:03, Today: teslas rolled 64 using 1d100. 50% miss chance.
20:04, Today: teslas rolled 7 using 1d6+2. physical damage.
Additional 1 point of Constitution damage.

The party turns to see the frame of a glowing ghastly drow form half-rising out of the ground, shortsword extended into SILI's backside. It speaks in a crazed voice.

DAI and ZEIG immediately recognize it as a ghost. ZEIG, on the other hand, has written a book about this particular ghost.
20:07, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 28 using 1d20+9. Know (relig).
20:07, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 22 using 1d20+8. Know (relig).

They are both able to remember some ghosts have supernaturally horrifying appearances, and succesfully avoid the instinct of looking directly at it for the time being.
20:12, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 14 using 1d20+4. DC 10 Reflex.
20:12, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 15 using 1d20+2. DC 10 Reflex.

You must avert your eyes each turn (read the SRD on how this works) which will help you avoid making the save or screwed Will save, though it carries with it all the normal penalties.

SILI, on the other hand, is not so lucky, and feels his soul crumble before the sight of the glowing undead figure.
20:16, Today: teslas, on behalf of SILI, rolled 15 using 1d20+5. Will save.
20:16, Today: teslas rolled 1 using 1d4. constitution damage.
20:16, Today: teslas rolled 3 using 1d4. dexterity damage.
20:16, Today: teslas rolled 4 using 1d4. strength damage.

Keep in mind of what this does to your carry weight, speed, etc.

MILO is furious at the pain his master has received, completely ignoring the normally awe-inspiring dread.
20:18, Today: teslas, on behalf of SILI, rolled 22 using 1d20+2. MILO Will save.

Initiative and map to follow.

Re: 9:45am Iceday, 8th week 852s

The ghost is holding a shortsword in each hand and is in a stance half-submerged into the road that suggests that it has received exotic martial training of some sort. One shortsword has a dull dark-blue aura around it while the other bubbles with an other-wordly lighter-blue tint. It is wearing a battered, torn, and broken chain shirt that looks as if it'd provide basically no protection if it were on a corporeal body. Finally, a long and tattered black cloak is flowing to the west in wind that none of you can feel.

19:04, Today: DAI rolled 88 using 1d100. 50% miss chance(low hits).
19:03, Today: DAI rolled 7 using 1d100. low = ignore gaze.

Just realized that rolling miss chance first is kind of lame since I could have gone "I'll use Fire if it would hit...". Will keep this in mind for future rounds and roll attack first(clearly stating the spell I had in mind)

ZEIG is as unphased by the ghost's appearance as MILO seems to be.
21:20, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 27 using 1d20+10. Will vs. Horrifying Appearance.

The wave of holy energy washes over it, dissolving tiny pieces of its hair and cloak.

Its gaze shifts from SILI to ZEIG. It speaks through gritted teeth as it ascends out of the ground to the northwest. It releases a flurry of swift strikes toward ZEIG, all squarely passing through his body with no effect.
21:23, Today: teslas rolled 25 using 1d100. miss chance attack 4 of 4.

ZEIG, you already passed your save vs. its horrifying appearance. You don't have to save again, or avert your eyes, for 24 hours.

More holy energy washes over the ghost, dissolving small pieces of it.

The ghost follows ZEIG into the doorway of the structure, speaking more in a tongue that ZEIG and DAI cannot understand.

He brings his shortswords to bear onto ZEIG again and solidifies his place as the most bad-assed harmless enemy you've encountered to date.

DAI grumbles since he was going to dive behind that desk. He tries his best to avoid looking on the ghost but ends up meeting its gaze and...feeling somewhat let down with its lack of effect on him. He quickly decides that his time was better spent firing blasts of wind at the thing, hoping to knock it back some...and wondering if that was even feasibly possible, but doesn't have to bother checking since he missed again. Not wanting to stay this close, he moves a bit upward and ends with his back to the corner of the room.

A slightly larger collection of portions of the ghost dissolve after ZEIG's spell.

As the ghost takes a step up to ZEIG, it moves its feet and legs move as if walking, but the speed at which they move is disproportionate to the speed at which he appears to be traveling. It brings both shortswords toward ZEIG again. Two of the strikes actually manage to deal damage as they pass through him. Like SILI, ZEIG feels his heart stutter when the dark blue one cuts him. The other bubbles and fizzles as it touches him.

DAI dislikes the close proximity of the Ghost, and tries an awkward sideroll to end his movement just right of the desk SILI is now hiding behind. He then raises a hand and tries firing some magical rubble at the ghost, since it's worked so well against 99% of everything else.
