Re: OOC: Everything Else

I have read it, duration was lowered and the range was set to 10ft rather than close. That's an idea... I sort of wanted one that could fight though, maybe not the best idea to put myself in harm's way though *shrug*

Re: OOC: Everything Else

DAI

It being large sized, as you have said, presents a few problems. Also, to some stupid enemies, it would be the first target due to it being the biggest thing present.

You could make it work, but I see you having a new best-pal-ever at least two or three times throughout the campaign if you bring it along with you everywhere. It'd be the same for anyone, except better off with a fighter since he can use Cover on it (hilarity). Also, Mounted Combat would go a long way.

Garus

Yup. It works on you (and Gurlop on your shoulder), and for anyone you block all line of effect to/from. I posted IC about it.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Augment Summons requires Spell Focus (Conjuration), which I think doesn't exist in this game...

And further I'd be taking a feat to boost a single spell I can use, whereas Augment Summons is traditionally taken by someone who expects to call out a titan or small squad of tougher minions. I can spend a few rounds making a bunch of tough birds I guess, but until 15th level they won't even fight, so they just take 6-10 more damage before poofing and sending me into the ground.

Wild Cohort isn't likely to turn out that much better, and might just turn into a sinkhole for money as I try gearing up my mount, but they'd quickly pass 9 HD... in fact, 9 HD? How is that supposed to even be useful when fighting stuff at level 20? It'd have like +6 BAB... I'd be more deadly with a Tempered Dagger/arrows...

Anyways, Wild Cohort quickly passes 9 HD, gets its own str/dex and natural armor boost, and I can just put its attribute points into con if I wanted.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Personally, I'd use the feat on something completely different. Once you are able to summon chocobos that aren't afraid in a fight, that's all you need. You use them for mobility and for the fact that they won't carry your ass away unintentionally. If they seriously need a couple more HP there's a party white mage for that, because at the level you can summon one their attacks are going to be fairly worthless. That is, unless you're fighting some crazy army of mooks, in which case your are a BLACK MAGE.

Nuke the shit out of them, case closed.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

You're right, there is no Spell Focus: Conjuration (though the closest thing would be School Focus: Dark). Due to the fact that it only works with one spell, I'd just wave the pre-req completely.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

This is just a reward for waiting for so long. You can use this at any time, and unless something else major happens, you won't be getting many of these.

Action Point uses:

1. Free Move action. You can take this at any time during your turn. This means that you could use a Move action to walk up to something, and then use your action point to restore it, allowing you to take a Full-round action. You can even take this action when you would not normally be allowed a full turn, such as when staggered or nauseated, or even during a surprise round. You cannot take it while unconscious, stunned, or otherwise rendered completely unable to act.

2. Reroll any one die after you see the result, such as an attack roll or saving throw. Or, an entire set of damage dice for one attack or instantaneous damaging effect (say the thief rolled seven 1's their sneak attack, and they wanted to redo them).

3. +5 to any one check of any kind before you roll. Essentially any time you'd roll a d20, you can add 5 to it if you choose to.

edit-
Actually, I'll PM this to everyone, too, so that it's probably easier to find weeks or months from now.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

And I'm sure I've said something like this before, but another heads up:

I used to be in the GMT -6 timezone. U.S. Central. Now I'm in GMT +1, Western EU.

This means that I won't be super-duper active when 2-4 of you are also super-duper active like it used to be most of the time.

In this particular instance, we'll go as soon as I have an action or a post saying they don't have an action to take from everyone. If you are waiting to see what someone else does, say, waiting on a squishy mage or something and you're a beef-tank to shield them, then say that in the OOC thread so that they know.

If 36-48 hours goes by and not everyone has posted, I'll move everyone left to the best of my ability with their situation in mind, taking into account requests from allies.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

We'll move along here in the next .5 to 3 hours.

Garus will stay where he is, shielding SILI (and the majority of MILO). JAGA will stay where he is, having not been told what else to do, shielding DAI.

Garus and JAGA, because they are fully expecting a hail of arrows (or other ranged attacks) from the wall in front of them, will not be counted as being flat-footed against such attacks no matter the initiative situation should such a thing occur, though there's no reason to suspect that is going to happen >_>.

Now, if something attacks them from behind or above, say DAI wins initiative and then tries to punch JAGA, or a bat swoops down and bites his head, JAGA will be flat-footed as normal.

Actually, SILI, if you decide to leave, Garus will follow you. Keep in mind his movement speed is only 20', however (though he can use the Run action). Even though you were talking, you could just have easily decided to beat feet near the end of your statement after you heard ZEIG talk.

JAGA will stick with DAI since DAI already took a round of actions.

Keep in mind that SILI rolled three knowledge checks while the rest of you rolled less. I'm not saying you should metagame by letting the bard with all the knowledge checks he can't seem to fail (because he's a fucking cheater) and charisma and ranks in talky talky do something first, but I'm also not saying that it wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

As stated I already took a full round of actions in preparation for this, so if combat breaks out I'll enter initiative but otherwise leaving current actions up to the others.

DAI, they have only exchanged three rather short sentences... you nearly said more than they have put together. That is an impatient action even for your character. I just wanted to address that.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Guess I was also looking at SILI's opening, but that would have been while DAI was still readying himself for battle. I'll delete it since SILI catching us up mid-conversation is probably not the best idea anyways, but it's not like there's no pauses between their responses, so three sentences adds up to a little more.

In reply to teslas (msg # 5863):

SILI, you do know more than little else. He asked why you were there. You responded to find some old elven crown. This is true, but you gave a major half-truth as to who told you it was there or why you are here. If this were a bustling city in some sort of civilized region, or even close to one, your statement would be fine.

You are, however, in a cave that is the central point of a dead nation, under a vast expanse of swamp. The only thing this NPC, if it's not crazy (it may very well be) is that you are lying by ommission of vital truth or you are completely insane.

I know you are not insane. As such, roll a Bluff check.

Wasn't it that old guy that told us it was down here? Closer to the surface? ...Wait, We probably came here on someone else's information, and weird cloak guy pointed us deeper. Blah. This is more interesting anyway.

23:49, Today: SILI rolled 28 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 17. Bluff.

It doesn't help that DAI has no idea what they're saying. Eh, maybe with 20 INT he could read body language or something, though one member IS a skeleton so... eh?

Either way, kept it much simpler this time to avoid distracting TOO much if things are still on a talkative level.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Body language, by the way, is almost wholly in the Sense Motive check area. And yeah, this thing being a skeleton does hurt a little due to the complete lack of facial expressions, but not as much as it otherwise could. Posture and hand gestures are a huge part of humanoid communication. This thing wearing plate mail is about the same as anything else wearing plate mail as far as that goes.

SILI is the main mover and shaker here, having had a short conversation. We'll definitely wait until he posts to move on, though if anyone else in the group wants to do something, including saying "I go" or "I throw a rock at it", please post.

I'd say head South, chances are it doesn't patrol outside the area and we can discuss what it said to SILI. I really don't see this ending without us fighting it eventually... unless we're really lucky in exploring the place.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Just one thing bit to say to that:

These caves are huge, and you have left several paths untrodden. You could even give this keep and the small compound's low-lying wall a super wide berth from what you've seen so far and look on the other side of it if you were curious. If you wanted to make it your goal to avoid this "thing" (I think he's cute) and continue on with the rest of the entire campaign, you likely could.
