Re: OOC: Everything Else

This became a bit too long to look decent in the in-character thread, so I'll put it here:

PBS does work on objects, yes. edit- Also, if you spend a Full-round action to make a ranged attack against a stationary object, you get a +5 bonus to the attack roll for aiming. You can still miss on a natural 1 (though for something as large as a window I'd say that you couldn't miss, really, so long as the result of the attack roll met the AC of the window (likely 5) and there was nothing obstructing your shot), but the odds of missing with the +5 bonus on top of a normal attack modifier is essentially nil.

edit-
Also, this is apparently the 11111th post. That's kinda neat. If it had been done by one of the players instead of the glory-stealing DM I'd have given them 1/2 of a point of experience.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Alright, I just wasn't sure because I thought I remembered reading you couldn't apply PBS to splash weapons because it was 'precision damage', like Sneak Attack. If that was the case, wouldn't make a lot of sense for affecting objects, but looking back... I might have just read that the PBS boost doesn't affect the splash damage of splash weapons.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Since JAGA is mostly on NPC mode, seems both the casters want him to climb through first.

Not sure if we can just make him or if that is entirely on the GM, we don't have his sheet/saves in case there IS a window trap so... yeah.

Yeah, this is definitely a JAGA-first situation.

It's late here, and I'm tired, so this will be handled on the 'morrow.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

If you had tweezers, a magnifying glass, 8-24 hours, and a few Mendings, you might be able to get the window back to the way it was, or at least to a state where it wouldn't be readily noticeable it had been previously shattered.. As it is now, with pieces of it scattered all over the room, some quite tiny, no way in hell.

edit-
Also, the window is only 4' off of the ground. You're not actively being threatened, so there's no need to roll. Sometimes, man, 8th level adventurers just get to climb through low-lying, large windows without rolling. Crazy, I know.

Garus, as stated, would damage the window frame as he pulled himself through, however.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

ZEIG has posted. DAI needs to ammend his post a bit. We need one more to post to move us along (this is probably you, SILI).

After this particular set of circumstances, we'll reduce it to 2 people to check in. JAGA is MIA and Garus is liable to go missing at some point.

Where we are in the game, there's really no way to have someone fade out or jump into a lake, so we may be walking around with 1-2 NPCs for a bit. Hopefully they come on back, as I kinda liked both of them.

Yeah, but that means we don't get to roll dice.

Post updated, we don't exactly want to get caught in here by that thing- is there a window facing the direction of the fountains as well?

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Yes, there are, though not in the dining room you are in, as it is not on the corner of the house. I should probably make a real map when I get home tonight and post it for you guys.

Here's a very not to scale and skewed map just for reference.

P = porch
F = fountains
K = direction of keep
H = big house or small houses

   HHHH
K  HHHH F
   HHHH    H H
    PP

Until further notice, the amount of people needing to post to move the party along is lowered to two from three.

edit-
DAI, you have the lantern in one hand and the scroll of knowledge of Water in the other, yes?

Read the scroll, that consumed it right?

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Ahhhh. I see.

Well then yes, now you just have one blank, mundane scroll. You can toss it onto the ground or put it on your sheet and hang on to it.

I have edited it into your spells known:
link to a message in this game

As it (I think) states on gitp, you can always move a spell of a lower level than the slot it is in to a lower level spell slot should it open at a later time. For right now, I stuck it in your lowest level available slot, a 3rd level one.

In reply to teslas (msg # 5933):

Noted, I have them listed in numerical order on my sheet, but at this rate I doubt any confusion will arise from them being a little out of order since the list you have in player status is easy to access.

DAI will keep the scroll, just 'cause.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Could Prestidigitation be used along with Mending to try and 'recreate' a window?

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Also, looking at that thread, your necklace. It only works for the 6 base elements. It does not penalize/enhance light/dark spells. It only contains six crystals. I think we may have treated it incorrectly in the past. We'll have to be sure we stop doing that if that was the case.

And to respond to your reply as I was typing the above:
Prestidigitation only does what it says in the spell. It can't make things appear that weren't already there apart from small crude and shitty globs of... stuff. Mending wouldn't affect that... stuff... as it wasn't originally part of the window, which, by the way, now has its frame fairly well ruined from Garus coming through.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

What you did will work, DAI, but remember that you have to have line of sight to the place of the sound. You can catty-corner it to the T intersection just inside the main gate, and make it sound like it recedes northward.

Also, poor chocobo. This is not a fun place.

Waiting on someone else to post "I pee on myself a little" or "I start stealing dishes" before we move along.

That would have probably been the best, yeah.

It's bedtime for me, folks. Tomorrow afternoon (morning your time) we'll get to the results of DAI's actions. Searching all of the cabinets will take a while, DAI, so which one would you like to search first?

The one closest to the window with mostly plates showing?
The smashed-up one?
The other one.

If I don't hear back I'll assume the one closest to the window for no other reason than it's the top one in the above list.

Well total 20, not going to win any awards but if the drow living here weren't that careful we might find something worthwhile.

I'll be honest I'm a little surprised, with how tough the door and window are, that the dishes and such wouldn't have had similar cares taken...

Since I doubt it takes much time to blow out a lantern, may as well cancel the Mount spell as well. DAI was hoping it could be a distraction but he isn't keen on being within earshot/visual range when it gets eviscerated.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

I need to confirm that SILI wants to go through the western double doors, while DAI and ZEIG go through the northern one.

By default, Garus will guard the two squishes that don't have a giant pet dog, so he'll go with them.

JAGA is also on auto-pilot, and he's more inclined to go with the other three than with the one guy and his dog.

So I'll delay on SILI's action for now until you confirm which door you'd like to take.

Another large note on opening doors in this game:
The standard system for doors taking an entire Move action to open is fucking not fun. We will be doing what some other d20 systems do. It still requires a Move action to open a latched or handled door, yes, but any movement you have remaining from your movement up to the door remains to be used afterward.

So, you could move 15' to a door, open it, then spend your next 15' moving back away from it, walking through it, taking a step through, taking a super quick look around, then leaving again, and so on.

This extends to some other Move action equivalents as well. For instance, picking something up off of the ground.
