Re: OOC: Everything Else

My agenda is full of a bunch of crap today. It's all in Dutch or is a proper noun I don't recognize. Hopefully I don't actually have to be anywhere and can update this game instead. Maybe Garus will post by then as well. JAGA is a bit MIA at the moment.

Eh, if we had access to his sheet we could just roll for him- though Garus might have a better shot at taking down the door. Using a Tower Shield while charging a door would give a bonus on the str check to break it, I think.

I mean... we should see if it's even locked first, but due to his being a half-giant and carrying around a shield bigger than the door, Garus is probably more suited for breaking it down that JAGA, right?

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Garus has more STR and I have no problem with Powerful Build giving a +4 to the check to break things as if he were large (though by strict RAW he should not). The weight of his battle plate and shield may give a small Circumstance bonus if he were able to charge it. There are stairs, which I didn't mention because I hate all of you, that would require a Balance check to run up.

So that would be pretty god damn hilarious potentially.

Hm... and Garus's balance is probably crap from battle plate and tower shield...

EDIT: Go Go half-giant trip/headbutt sunder!

Re: OOC: Everything Else

In the long run, charging is only worth a +2... though that circumstance bonus would have made it slightly better.

Just a wooden door, so str + 4 (for effective size) should be plenty with a couple rounds, just hoping the skeleton hasn't got the best hearing. Not having ears should work in our favor, then again... liches get a +8 bonus to listen so what do I know?

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Garus has not been here to argue, so he'll go open the door (though he has been online and has still said nothing). I cannot speak for if he'd just blindly bash the door with his body, try the handle, or try to pry it open.

So unfortunately, I'll have to use my own best judgment and some die rolling. I'll get to this later tonight. Maybe he'll say something before then.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

I need someone to second DAI's motion of having Garus break the door down.

Garus obviously has the right to veto the action if he checks first and has some kind of objection.

This cavern is fucking quiet. Very quiet. Even though it has a high ceiling, it is still a confined space with hard walls, and the sound will reverberate. This will be loud. That may not matter at all, and I'm not trying to give you a cryptic DM warning, it's just something you'd be very aware of in this situation.

Smash it down. If flaming ugly comes over we're near water at least, and learning a spell from a scroll takes 1 full-round action, I believe? His lantern head should give us some warning.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

we could start by just trying to have him break the lock I guess, probably quieter than taking the door down

Re: OOC: Everything Else

If you can give us warning of you being deployed or of some kind of communications restriction, do it so that we can know sooner that we needn't wait for you.

Otherwise, good luck and have fun.

"breaking open the door" and "breaking the lock by way of bashing" are essentially the same thing in D&D mechanics. I'll move the party along when I get to a computer machine tonight (I hope). These last few days have been too damn busy, and tonight is looking like it may be the same way.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

I wish the group had sent JAGA up to kick the door--much more of a chance he'd have been flipped into the ol' pit-o-doom. But no, the fucking half giant with Shield Ward goes up there.

So it goes.

Post what you want to do next. Garus can be driven by party referendum (I hold veto privileges if I need to save him from some sort of clearly silly decision) if he does not check in within a day to say what he would want to do next.

JAGA remains MIA, though he gave us a bit of a warning. I'll pilot him around for another little while, but if he doesn't return after that we'll see what to do then.

Keep moving along, kids.

Posting from phone.

We should move to the rear of the house, now. Zeig would say as much in character, adding something about the door being a trap. And stay quiet, /glares at armored loud dude.

Also on phone,  dai is cool with this idea, wouldn't glare though as he expected loud. For now he will spend a couple rounds watching for movement from the distant flickering light.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

I'll give a bit for SILI/Garus to say something, and then we'll move along. "A bit" is pretty subjective. If I have a lot of free time here in a few hours it will be then. If I have to do shit tonight and can't log on much, then it's tomorrow.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

To the back of the house it is, then.

Do you go by means of the left side, the one closer to the small fortress?

Or do you go by means of the right side, the one with the three large stone fountains and the two smaller houses nearby?

Or, do you do what every DM dreams of, and split the party?

Re: OOC: Everything Else

For sake of ease and not really feeling either side particularly beneficial- I'll go with left.

DAI is waiting a round or two to watch the distant flickering lights though, for signs of movement.

Also, now that we know this place is trapped... we should be a bit more careful with how we move through the house. I know it's obvious, just stating it so it can't be said that we didn't intend to take any special precautions.

Re: OOC: Everything Else

Nothing I've seen suggests a trap, really. The design behind the for seems fairly benign. Rebuff intruder, warn occupants. More like a security system. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be the home of a blue collar drow family.

I'd watch that sitcom.

In reply to SILI (msg # 5916):

The trapdoor that appeared behind Garus, not much was said but the scent seems to imply there might be an aboleth (or simply just stanky water) below as an obstacle to anyone who was actually pushed back by the door.

DAI has been caught in a trap door once with an aboleth, almost got stuck with a permanent disease from it.

You're all likely asleep, but if any of you wants to respond to SILI while you're walking or doing, do it.

I've got some stuff to take care of this morning, and then we'll move along.

Hey, look-at-that, I'm awake and not so drunk that I can't make posts. If it isn't clear, DAI is growing slightly impatient with this whole drow dungeon/tunnel/maze thing and is ready to start setting everything on fire if that solves the problem.

For me- eh, I lack creativity at times so brute force in the form of magic/directing Garus is easier, sue me.
