Jiro went flying at her blow, breath exploding out of him as he flew across the chamber. Landing hard, he flipped to his feet and danced towards his enemy, ki shifting. "An impressive technique; I commend you." Weaving his way towards her, he attacked. "Fist of the Oni!"

The woman could see that Jiro's attack could not be dodged. Instead, she confronted the strike head on, blocking his fist with her open palm. "IRON PALM BLOCK!" There is an explosion of light as her yellow energy warred with Jiro's blue. At first it seems that Jiro would win the struggle, but she grits her teeth and calls upon hidden depths of Ki to disperse the Fist of the Oni. "You're powers are WEAK. I am disappointed. Killing you will be easier then I had hoped!"

There is a menace in her words, a promise of pain that will not be denied.

Jiro felt his will waver for a split second, then forced down his fear. No. Not today. "There are many paths of power; many ways to gain it. And many things one can do with it." He stepped back into a defensive stance, ki shifting. "You say I have taken something from you; I can only offer as a defense that I did not do so intentionally. And I know how hollow and useless that statement must be. But I am just a man, mortal and failable. I say this; it is not my desire to see anyone in pain. For what I have cost you, I am sorry. I have made many mistakes in my life, I would not make another when it could be avoided with words."

But if you're gonna insist on fighting, mystery lady, you'll find that you ain't seen all I can do yet.

The acid leaves superficial burns, but in her present mood Alex has no trouble ignoring it. She instead presses her attack.

Her hands move in a sinuous pattern, bringing to mind the waves of the ocean. The motion ends with her pointing both hands at Jiro, wrists together. "FLOODING DELUGE!"

An explosion of frigid water rushes from her hands in a great cone.

Well, it was worth a shot. The aquatransexual lept clear of the main force of the rushing water; but could not elude it all. She landed in a crouch. "If this is your choice, I will not debate it with you. We both shall live with it."

Launching out of her crouch, she moved in on the offensive, throwing all she had into an attack.

"No, it is only *I* who will live with..." was all the woman got out before Jiro's attack landed. This time her palm block is to slow, and Jiro's fist hits her jaw with a sickening crack. She crumples to the ground.

Alex grabs the monster again, and with a final smash, causes it to stop moving. It falls down into the trees below, out of sight.

As Alex looks over that the people she was protecting, she sees them fade out of existence. A moment later, the door opens.

Jiro let out a breath, knelt beside her attacker, and probed at her jaw with delicate fingers before checking her at her throat for vitals. After assuring herself that the woman was in no immediate danger, she leaned back. "She never did tell me her name. But I can guess who she is. Someone who's father didn't make it out of that drug den. Kuso."

Pausing to brush a lock of hair from the unconscious woman's face, Jiro stood. "I think I've had enough failures rubbed in my face so far today. Open the door. Let's get this over with." Though if Dragoneye is who - or rather, what - I think he is, I suspect there's still some smearing to come.

Now that the flies are gone, Alex decides that this place seems rather... nice. She sits down and takes a breather, enjoying the peace.

A few minutes later, she stands and returns to the guide. "So, how did I do?"

Jiro finds that the woman has taken no serious harm. Moment's later, the door opens.

Jiro walks up just in time to hear Alex asking her question and the guide's reply. "You have passed that challenge." was all he said.

The guide then turns to Jiro. "My apologies for your opponent. She was not to be your foe, but discovered you were present and took matters into her own hands. She holds a grudge against you, as you now know."

"In light of this, and the fact that you have but a single challenge remaining, you will be allowed to face it as a pair."

Her own hands, huh? A co-incidence? Why do I not believe you, Triad? "I understand. I have no shortage of enemies, I fear. Mine has not been an... uneventful life. Can I ask her name, at least? She never deigned to give it to me."

A brief glance over Alex showed that her friend was fine, despite some more tatters to the clothing. She heals as fast as I do. Possibly faster. "I, ah, fear I have misplaced your towel somewhere. Sorry." She turned back to the guide. "If Alex does not object, I would be happy to stand the final challenge beside her."

And 'intended' for one at a time or not... I suspect it will be a trial for us both. Perhaps I am being paranoid, but however tired I am, however I wish for this to be over with... I will not stand aside while my friend fights.

Too many failures indeed.

"Oh, didn't the hot water work to change you back. That's annoying. Wait, one more challenge? Did you get another one done while I was sitting around enjoying the trees? Sorry about that."
