Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Alex is soon out of sight, chasing after the messenger. She soon find him, talking excitedly with a trio of men. They look up as she runs around the corner and snarl.

The vampire fighting Jiro watches her go out of the corner of his eye, then snarls at the woman. "Alright girls, the slayer's gone. GET HIM!"

Three of the woman promptly bare fangs and leap at the martial artist. The remaining people head out the door and up towards the sunlit warehouse.

The furious attacks on our heroes are somewhat less then effective, with the vampires mostly getting in each others way. Still, they land a few good hits.

Alex winced as the monster's claws sliced open her shirt and top layers of skin. "Oh, it's ON YOU UNDEAD SON OF A BITCH!" Alex looked the leader straight in the eye, then lashed out at one of it's minions.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

The vampire doesn't buy Alex's clumsy feint, and the three of them press their attack. They have no success hitting the agile woman.

Meanwhile, Jiro is in much the same situation. His decision to take a more defensive stance proves it's worth, as he avoids taking another dangerous strike.

Maintaining his defensive stance against the group of vampires, Jiro lashes out once more, this time feinting to cover his attack.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro finally lands a hit, and it proves to be one worth waiting for. He sends the the vampire flying through the door that Alex didn't break down, and then through a brick wall. From the smell that wafts in, he's been knocked into the sewer.

The girl vampires take one look at this, and decide that perhaps this wasn't a battle they could win. The ran at inhuman speeds towards the broken wall and dove through.

Jiro then hears Alex yell "FRACK THIS" in the distance. She sounds very angry.

Over at her fight, she demonstrates this fact quite clearly. A stake through the heart does not normally mean "I love you" after all, and one of the lesser vampires turns to dust.

The leader looks at this and swears. "Oh shit! She must be the one they told me about. RUN! SHE'S THE FUCKING SLAYER!"

The vampires proceed to do just that.

Jiro's blood was up, he wasn't about to let them flee so easily. "Oh no you don't!"

Running to the hole in the wall, he spotted a fleeing back, and looses a ki blast. "Wrathful Kami's Shout!"

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro's blast catches one of the fleeing square in the back. She's flung forward and is flung into a large water pipe. Which promptly shatters and almost sprays the man with cold water.

The other vampires don't stick around, and run off into the darkness.

Alex's stake finds another heart and creates another cloud of dust. The one she assumes is the leader dives through a grate and vanishes from sight.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro briefly considers chasing the Vampires further into the sewers, but quickly thinks better of it. Oh no, not feeling that lucky right now. Taking a brief moment to listen for any nearby enemies, he nods sharply, and turns his ki inward, healing his wounds. "Merciful Spirit's Grasp."

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Alex curses as the vampire flees. It wouldn't be smart to chase right now. She'd already broken the number one rule, and that was just stupid. She grabbed her stakes and ran back to the room where the fight started.

"I feel a fool. There were several other Vampires hiding their natures among the various kept women. They fled through there." He cocked a thumb at the hole into the sewers.

"I hope you had better luck. I fear... we have awoken the enemy to our presence and next time they shall be waiting for us."

He looked her over. "Do you need any healing? Or should we just get out of here and plan our next move?"

Alex looks out the hole. "Damn it. Sorry. I should have realized they might be some lurkers and I went charging off breaking rule number 1. Glad you're okay." Her voice sounds repentant, and she gives Jiro's shoulder a squeeze.

"I'm fine. I dusted a couple of them, but the leader got away. Let's see if we can find anything of interest while we are here. I don't think they'll be coming back anytime soon."

Indeed, the cuts on Alex's body have already healed.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro can tell Alex has done this before. She goes unerringly to a number of places which promptly reveal something of at least mild interest.

Most promising are a journal in what they assume was Johnny's room, a well hidden key ring with two keys on it, and an amulet that looks strangely familiar to both of the pair.

They also find a few stashes of drugs and cash.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro glanced up from the amulet for a moment. "It's slightly odd the way your memories have... merged. I hope it's a good sign."

A pause and he looked over the amulet some more. "It's definately some kind of protective amulet. I recognize several of these runes individually, though I cannot remember seeing them in this particular combination. I am... not entirely sure what this is protecting against. It seems to still hold some power, as well."

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

"Slightly odd? I do hope that is understatement, not honest opinion. 'Cause if it is then this world is even more fracking strange then I thought." Alex shook her head.

"Anyway, I think you're right about the amulet. I've seen it before or something just like it. I just have no idea where. Could have been in the hands of someone trying to destroy the world or an illustration for an amulet of protection +1 from my D&D days. But I am getting a real protection type vibe off of it. Not that I'm going to put the thing on. Adventure's first looting rule - Check for curses first."

"You are correct; understatement. I... Honestly, I do not know what is normal for a situation like yours. At some point we should probably track down a trustworthy psychic to take a look at you. There are some superheros with those sorts of powers in Freedom City that I know of." A shrug. "Still. That is for later, Alex-san. And I agree with your instincts... I would not put this on either."

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

"Freedom City. Just thinking about that place scares me. I mean how bad is it when they have a dozen convicts on parole defending the place in addition to how many other super teams? Still, if you think it will help, we can do a road trip once we get all this drek figured out."

Alex grabbed a small cloth bag to drop the amulet in. The keys go into her pocket.

"What do you say we make an anonymous donation to a reputable charity?" Alex says, gesturing at the money they found.

She then opens up Johnny's book and sees what she can learn from it.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

"Charity; or perhaps 'operating expenses' for that road trip. Assuming we would want to move faster than we could walk, or hopping onto freight cars." It may not be as fun as all the folk songs make it out to be, but it works. "Or even both. The train is not the fastest, but it is not terribly expensive."

A shrug. "Whatever we do with these spoils, I think we should best decide later. For now, I think we should get somewhere in sunlight; where Johnny's minions cannot reach us for now." Regardless of Alex's response, Jiro bundles up the money as best he can, and stashes it in his pockets.

"As for the drugs... those, I think, should go into the sewers with the rest of the waste."

Unless Alex moves to stop him, he stacks the drugs into a box, heaves said box into the sewer line, and ki blasts them.
