Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro lands lightly, grinning widely at the two vampires burning in the sunlight. "Konnichiwa!" Taking a half step towards the nearest vampire not already on fire, Jiro's fist lashes out again. "Fist of the Oni!"

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Alex darts forward and places a stake right in the vampire's heart. It explodes into a now familiar cloud of dust.

Jiro's power can't match the pure, direct efficiency of Alex's stakes. However, a superpowered uppercut does the job nicely, sending it flying up into a broken beam. Another vampire lost, dust in the sun.

The three remaining vampires look at the people standing in full sunlight, and then at their burning comrades. They do the only sensible thing. Pull out hand guns and fire.

Alright, maybe not so sensible.

Alex dodges one bullet, but the second strikes her, while Jiro is missed cleanly.

Meanwhile, the four people make a break for the next room. It looks like they are heading towards the stairs up.

[OOC: These guys are minions, so feel free to take 10. Don't forget that they very defense shifted. They rolled rather well on init, so they go before you have a chance to act again.

Alex didn't even feel the bullet graze her arm. She just looks at one that shot at her and made with the staking. "Bad Vampire! No guns!" she scolded.

Ignore the attack roll, I missed they were minions. Taking 10.]

"Guns? Guns? Pah, how pathetic. You new world vampires do deplorable things to the traditions."

So saying, he glides towards the three vampires, ki shifting, and lashes out at the nearest one.

[OOC: Array is in Ki Strike. Taking 10 to attack the vampire minion for 22 to-hit. DC 23 save, if that kills it, I will definitely take my followup attack.]

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

The Vampires should have ran when the had the chance. Jiro breaks two, and sends them flying into the sunlight, while Alex stakes the last.

There is a moment of calm, broken only by the sound of panicked footsteps running up the stairs, followed by a door slamming open.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

A quick exploration of the basement reveals little of interest. It's a typical basement of a house, with no more occupants.

Just before the pair is about to give up, Jiro catches the sound of something coming from on of the rooms. He and Alex arrive there just in time to see a section of the wall moving, and a very surprised looking Vampire staring at Alex. It's the one that got away from her back at the warehouse.

"WHAT! HOW'D! NOOOO!!!!" He yells, before turning and running. He shoves two of the female vampires that fled Jiro into the room behind him. "SLOW THEM DOWN!"

"You two really need a better boss," snarks Jiro on reflex, off balance and off guard, slow to react to this threat. When he gets his balance back, he dashes for the nearest hostile vampiress and lashes out.

The two vampires lash out with little effect, and then are broken. The way is clear to peruse the leader into the sewers.

"If we hurry, I believe we should be able to catch him. And I suggest we let him live long enough to take us to his boss."

So saying, Jiro follows the fleeing vampire into the sewers, at least trying to watch his step and avoid... falling in.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

As Alex staggers, Jiro moves in, grabbing her shoulder to steady her. "Hey, you still with me, Alex-san?" He frowns. "That's the second time today one of them has given you some kind of psychic whammy when you've grabbed them. Why don't I take care of the manhandling of these things?" Merciful kamis I hope they're okay in there. And I wish like hell I knew more about how to help.

So saying, he somewhat cautiously grabs the vampire by its collar.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro noted Alex's reaction, and tried to keep a burst of fear from crossing his features. Kamis no, don't let me make this worse on them. This is just plain not going well. Hefting the vampire up, the martial artist heads for the the basement, expression clouded, then going studiously blank as he puts their victim down, close enough to the wafting sunlight to be noticed, but far enough to be relatively safe.

We need to deal with this. We need to deal with these monsters, and fast, and get somewhere without vampires, somewhere Alex and Alexandria can sort themselves out. Without destroying either one. Merciful Kamis...

He took a moment to school his features again, ready to be the good cop. Not a roll he fell into normally.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Alex's thought processes were no more calm, and she decides to let Jiro lead the way. What is THIS time! Why is it every time I think I'm almost starting to begin getting a hold of ALL THIS SHIT, THAT THE UNIVERSE DECIDES TO THROW ANOTHER FUCKING CURVE BALL INTO MY FACE! WAS ME WAKING UP ON A STRANGE WORLD IN A GIRL'S BODY NOT ENOUGH? NO! I NEED TO HAVE THE GIRLS MEMORIES FLOATING INTO MY HEAD, AND THEN FLOODING ALL OVER ME SO BAD THAT I CAN'T TELL WHICH IS FUCKING WHICH! FUCK! NOW I'M GETTING FUCKING PSYCHIC FLASHES TO!

Almost at the secret door, things boil over. "ARGH!!!!" Balling her fist, Alex puts her fist six inches deep into solid concrete. She yanks it out, then stalks into basement. Jiro was already there, vampire laying at his feet.

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

Jiro glanced over as he heard Alex put her fist through the concrete. In a very quiet voice, Jiro said, "We'll beat this, Alex-san. You are strong; and I am here to help." He took a breath. "I know at least some of what you are going through, and I will stand beside you all the way." And I hope to any gods or kamis who might be listening, that I'm not wrong.

Alex whirls and snaps at Jiro. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU FUCKING KNOW? OH MY BODY GETS A BIT MESSED UP WHEN I GET WET. WOO-HOO. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO THE FUCK I AM AND EVERY FUCKING TIME I THINK THIS MIGHT SOMEDAY MAKE SENSE ANOTHER GOD DAMNED MOTHERFUCKING THING JUST EXPLODES IN MY HEAD. FUCK OFF!"

She takes three leaps up through the holes, and comes to rest on the roof. She sits, legs dangling over the edge of the hole. Softly enough that it's clear Jiro isn't meant to hear, but loudly enough that his exceptional hearing can make it out anyway "What the hell did I do that for... stupid, stupid, stupid."

Re: Chapter 3 - Dawn of Dreams

My timing is, as ever, shit.

For a long moment, Jiro stood rooted, glancing from the hole in the roof to the vampire. Screw it. If he escapes, we'll just toss the joint. Worst case, we find their next hideout the hard way.

Three leaps later, he landed on the roof, taking a seat across from her. "I am sorry, Alex-san. I did not mean to belittle your pain. I... I do not... I want to help. You are my friend. I want to help you, and I fear that my zeal to help has harmed you, because I am... prone to being too abrupt." A pause for breath. "I know this is hard for you, and I suspect the very fact that we are hunting vampires is making it worse."

He took a deep breath. This offer hurts to make, but some things are more important than your honor, Koji. "If you want to, if you think it best, I would be okay with just leaving this place behind, and letting Dragoneye and the vampires enjoy each other's company without our interference."
