Looking For Players

Have a game that could use more players?  While it won't substitute for the LFP thread on RPOL, you can post here where HERO fans will see for sure.

Imrunning a Champions game. The actual setting is a custom setting. Currently I have 14 players and I'm thinking of adding a co-GM. If interested PM or rMail me. I'm running a 6e game and this is my first go at actually running the system.

Re: Looking For Players

Earth that was, got all used up.  Mankind left for the stars, trying to find a new solar system to populate.  They succeeded, finding a system with dozens of planets and hundreds of moons.  Many of these were terraformed to create hospitable environments for people to live.

The inner planets formed the core worlds and quickly became the most advanced.  Life on the outer planets is much rougher, where life and death come both quickly and cheaply.   Those core worlds quickly formed the Alliance, and wanted to bring the rest of the 'Verse under their care.  However, they did not expect the border worlds to wish Independence.

It has been 10 years since the war ended, who won is now irrelevant.  The Alliance now has jurisdiction over every inhabited planet, ideally policing the worlds and providing unimaginable comforts.  However, the reality is that not much has changed on the border, as the Alliance do not have the resources to hold them down.

Out on the rim, the laws are more felxible.  Many ships travel the darkness delivering cargo, whether it is on the right side of the law or not.

Welcome aboard the Nameless, being here obviously means you are interested in one of the currently Vacant positions on the Crew.  I am Lady Ileosa, owner of the Nameless.  Mainly my Captains are given free reign to transport and run the ship as they will, as long as I get my cut.

This is set in a Firefly-esque universe with a few changes that will be seen eventually.  It is also using the HERO 5th Edition Revised ruleset.

Re: Looking For Players

I am looking for one player for a Fallout HERO game.

In an attempt to preserve the vault society from rapidly diminishing resources and harware failures, Four shifts were created, three shifts would sleep in hibernation, one shift would be active.

ZAX computed the divison of Vault population based on a number of parameters, education, age, social standing, family structure.

Now you have been brought out of suspended animation to find the Vault in ditre need.

Told to find replacement T.H.O.R.N. chips, it appears you are to leave the Vault in order to save it.

This game uses the HERO system 6th ed. Characters start at 100 points., 70 base with 30 points of Complications.

Traits from the original Fallout will be available.

Hello people! Old and returning Hero player and GM. I have The Basic Hero (6th ed) rulebook, and pdfs of both full volumes of Hero 6th edition rules. Looking to play some Hero system games. I am planning to do a Hero system 6th edition Champions game on rpol if there is any interest... but it will be a while before I am ready to GM  and run a game ... just in the ideas/brainstorming stage now.

To many players can be much worse than not enough, I can remember game mastering a few sessions where I had 7 or 8 players. I prefer a smaller group of maybe 3 to 5 players, and I will maybe throw an npc into the player's group if they need help.

Re: Looking For Players

My typical stance is to only take 3-5 players, and never give them NPC help.  If they need that, then I should have an additional player to start with.  Usually, I just scale down to the group.

In that particular game there were at one point almost 15 players.  But I think if not for work I could have eventually managed all of them, being play-by-post.

However, with that being said, I think I'll open up a small 6e supers game.

I might do a different character for another game but the fact taht I could have taken a magic theme or alien race theme and gotten same powers but without the hassle (he doesn't like the special effect) means I won't be in that game.

Yeah, 150 pts with 150 disads is a bit harsh. Basically 50 pts more in disads (with corresponding powers) than the low/weaker super hero campaign (150 powers, 100 disads). Corporate sponsored team is obviously not going for cream of the crop and being very picky.

Someone whose parents weren't loyal to England were disqualified by their parent's view even if it isn't necessarily their own. It was adding a complication/issue in her background. (Her parents protested and marched for Irish freedom from England though they weren't terrorists)

No real special plot twists (at least at the start). Bunch of heroes in a team take on various kinds of villainy.

Standard 100+150 game. Bronze age feel.

I was thinking "Bronze Age" would be either very modern supers (if Bronze Age corresponds to the Golden and Silver age terms in the comics) or old time stuff like the 1920s and 30s.

I might be interested.  I think I only have a 3rd edition book.  How different is 4th?

4th Edition is pretty different in its guts.

Character Creation is nearly identical but because there are differences in the guts of the Powers and whatnot, 3rd Edition will be minorly problematic for character creation.

Re: Looking For Players

By bronze age, I mean bronze age comics -- 1970s to mid-1980s. I only list that because that is when I broke my teeth on comics so it is in my head as what comic books are all about. The game would still be set more or less now, but the feel would be slightly older fashioned than today's comics.

I only own 4th edition, but we probably could work out issues. I'd like people to design characters off of character concepts more than min-maxing the rules anyway.

Re: Looking For Players

Looking for one player to join my Dar Champions, realistic, gritty, Intrigue based campaign which started 32 months ago.

It is a different kind of Low powered emerging super powered game, in which the origin of powers is unknown and is based in a Hudson City, published by HERO, that is just breathing a sigh of relief after Crime Inc. was smashed and taken done, leaders either captured or killed.

No use of Money, a lot of House rules for flavor, all listed in Campaign guidelines.

This is not a Four Colored game, and it is dark (many applications of that adjective.)

You will be starting at the campaign start for points, but a rapid rise based on posting rate and you will start in a Solo thread until such time as paths cross with other characters.

I will ask players to post here for anything they would like to add.

If you ask me how long I think the campaign will continue, we are 2 years and 8  months in, my current players have barely scratched the surface for what I have planned, so I would say at least another three years.

I am looking for a player who has a stable life, can post at least four times a week, if not one post a day and possibly more.

I post at least three times a day for each player, depending on their rate.

I am so conversant with HERO mechanics I barely even see them, it's all narrative with mechanics acting as levers to get character work done.

Ask me anything here or in PM.

Re: Looking For Players

Hey so I previously ran a Hero 6E game on the site for a while. For personal reasons, I ended up fading out of communication and then coming back and announcing I needed to delete the game. However, I'm in a better place now, I think, and after having recently rewatched some of the Marvel movies, I felt like giving a game of this a second try. I feel like there were a lot of failings last time that I'll try to improve on. One is that I kind of came up with some ideas and wanted to stick too closely to them at times, even if they weren't good or didn't fit the team... So, what I want to do is get a group of 4-6 players, and we can all discuss characters together. Once that's done, I'll make scenarios appropriate for them to run through. This does mean there will likely be a few weeks without much/any progress after characters are made as I do some writing. I hope that will be okay. I'm looking to hear from the players what kind of game they want to play, but kind of in the spirit of the Avengers, I was thinking maybe higher-powered heroes to start out with, that act as the world's apocalypse response team, as opposed to a fresh team that handles whatever issues occur in their area. But like I said, I'm looking to discuss this more with my players when everyone's on board.

Re: Looking For Players

Good luck!  You'll learn a lot and hopefully have fun.  Best way to improve

Re: Looking For Players

Yeah, some things you can only learn by doing.

My big question right now is how long to leave applications open, before I begin my winnowing process.  I want to give people a fair chance without dragging this out unnecessarily.  I'm planning until at least tomorrow afternoon, a nice 48 hours, but I wonder if I should wait through Monday morning.  If there is a weekday only crowd I should give a chance to.

I have seen your game post and while I eagerly look forward to another Hero based game
here, I think you need to give a little more 'meat' in your game listing.

Re: Looking For Players

I've already got at least a dozen bites.  I'm just not adding anyone until I have all my applications in.

As for the lack of meat, I don't want to commit to anything until I've gotten a sense of what the players want.  That said, there is a concentration of applicants who like like the DCAU and the MCU, in addition to a GM with similar leanings. ;)

Tornathian League, City States

The Turakian Age, published HERO campaign  setting

I have started a new game using Turakian Age. 6th edition HERO system
link to another game

Narrowed to start in the Tornathian League. 225 total, 50 in Complications

This is not first come, first in.  I am looking for characters steeped in the Turakian Age setting.

Kal Turak exists only as a threat to misbehaving children or spineless, gutless, squid bellied cowards.

No greater plan for the campaign exists by me, it will be decided upon by players.

My time torun the campaign is clear for the next two years. I have still much to polish on rules I use, that will work itself out in these next few weeks.

It is a mature game, I prefer no one under age 18, and if you are in school, without a stable posting schedule, please do not apply.

I cannot promise the alchemy of players, characters, GM will work out or is everyone's cup of tea. I can say I am a long time GM and highly motivated.

Re: Looking For Players

Nice to see a Hero System game.  I'm a bit slammed, don't think I can give it the attention it would deserve.
