Re: Looking For Games

Economy went south, buying 6th edition was not a high priority for most people.

I have 5th and hero designer for 5th, but 6th is not in budget soon.

Re: Looking For Games

*laughs*  Yes, that's very true.   My 4th edition game is from the 90s in fact.

Re: Looking For Games

If anyone ever wants to do a 6E game, please let me know. I have some ideas for game premises, all of which would be pretty good "starter games" for a newbie like me.

Might as well share, what ideas do you have?

Re: Looking For Games

Here are some updates of my previous ideas. I'd be looking for a very short one-shot, just really an intro scenario. We don't have to resolve everything all at once, for example, just complete a short arc.

• Resident Evil Outbreak: Set in the hellish week from September 24th to Raccoon City's nuclear destruction on the morning of October 1st. I would play an exceptional person, but not action movie hero-level like they get later in the series, trying to survive alongside others and escape. I have some ideas for this as far as the monsters and stuff go.
• Left 4 Dead: Similar, though weighted more toward the post-apocalyptic end of things. Trying to find a safe haven, survive, gather supplies, etc., while battling or fleeing the Infected.

Also have an interesting idea for something new here to experiment with powers and stuff. A Special Infected campaign, either starting as one or becoming one in-game, but not like Boomers or whatever. A unique strain. Something new, with more intelligence, possibly separated from the hordes. There are a couple ways to do this:

1) We might just play as Special Infected leading hordes, trying to stop a large caravan of survivors from reaching the military safe zone, or waging a war for control of a dying city. We (assuming there are more players) could play as unique monsters or take over the roles of some of those from the game.
2) Maybe we're a new strain of unique Infected who are at odds with the hordes, because of individuality instead of a hive mind. We might be caught between them and the survivors in the area, possibly having to strike a tense alliance with a group of human survivors in order to survive.
• Last of Us/I Am Alive: Cataclysmic post-apocalypse with a unique feel. The Last of Us has elements like overgrown cities and stuff. Looks very interesting. And playing I Am Alive provided a very bleak and visually engaging setting.
• Champions: I wouldn't mind joining in on a game set in the Champions universe, even if it's not a private game. I can only do a short stint, though, so guest-starring for one story would be fun. I'd like to try Kara Loft, my Tomb Raider pastiche described <a href="http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/90468-Kara-Loft-Lost-In-The-Sands-Of-Egypt?p=2361643#post2361643>here</a> and <a href="http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/90468-Kara-Loft-Lost-In-The-Sands-Of-Egypt?p=2366776#post2366776">here</a>. I'd like to try her even in a game with superheroes (with some more gear). I think it'd be fun. A team-up in some kind of Egyptian mythology-based story like the setup in that thread.

I may think of more.

Ok, I gave in.
I've started generic v6 game. It's all bare bones, at the moment, but it's there for anyone that wishes to give it a shot.

At Soulsight: going to flutter an RTJ in your direction the next day or two.  Any other guidelines beyond whats in the game thread?  Posting regularity, etc?  Given my penchant for creating characters just because I can I should be able to fit any other restrictions into some kind of concept.

Re: Looking For Games

This one's still vague in my head, so I'm playing it loose. Until such time as I get some more solid imaginings I'll avoid putting other requirements to the game.

To be honest, I'm always looking for one to play but have failed, completely, whenever I've tried to run one.

That is the thing with games, it seems backwards on Pbp

First you find good players, who know the  system, are aligned somewhat on genre, then the game idea is put forward by the GM, then he builds it for those players.

True, we have the Game Proposals thread, but it would appear, a very small pool of HEROphiles.

My personal cage match with HERO is Exp earn rate and spending justification.

My personal tastes run to running games in the Fantasy or Star Hero.
As subset, Post Apoc.

I like Opera in my games, not saying epic points, but where Characters are central and are motivated to be something other than the owner of a bar or the best Miller of grain or most competent Mayor of a city, unless of course that is the Empire's Capital.

I'd still be very down for some The Last of Us gaming with HERO, as a good intro to it. Some day, maybe!

Re: Looking For Games

If someone is willing to run an adult or mature game, I'd love to do a low fantasy intrigue game.

Re: Looking For Games

I'd still like to do a game with HERO to try things out. Something low-powered at first, like a game of The Last of Us or something zombie apocalypse-related. Or Aliens vs. Predator, maybe?

Looks like soulsight has stepped up to the plate: link to another game

Out of curiosity, soulsight, is this set in the same world as your The Sheep In Wolf's Clothing?

Re: Looking For Games

No, that world over-complicated and I couldn't make sense of the plot. Which, being the GM, was a real problem.

Re: Looking For Games

Well, you have one new person looking for a game rather than running one.

Although I'm curious - is the problem here too many chefs, or too many wanting a cake?

Re: Looking For Games

In reply to Redsun Rising (msg # 52):

The impression I've gotten is closer to too many wanting a cake.  Also, there are not many good chefs, and they've already got obligations.  And way too much puff pastry.

Okay, maybe I should lay off the metaphors.  I mean a fair bit of flakiness from players and GMs.  It can be hard to keep the game moving when you're waiting on somebody to post their move in combat, but they suddenly went silent.

Forgive me if you've already done this, but, you could always search for active games looking for players with the Hero System, and then try some of those.
