Re: Events

My wife and I are running an event in CT this January

http://www.brassringct.com/

It's focus during the day is education 16+ hours of class programming. The evening is a Cabaret with a baffling variety of entertainments!

The event is partly a benefit for the Connecticut Carousel Museum, which showcases many lovely examples of Victorian craftsmanship in a 1800s factory building. They need a new roof to keep their collection safe and dry! The building itself is gorgeous and a perfect setting for this genre.

We are still looking for vendors!

Re: Events

Awesome. Looks like you'll have a grand time. Not in a position to make it myself though.

Re: Events

Update:

The first Brass Ring Academy and Cabaret went off well! We tried again for a summer event, but interest was difficult to drum up. We pulled the plug on it two weeks before the date due to lack of vendor and attendee commitment.

This year's Brass Ring was a dazzling success! We rearranged and tweaked things a bit, but essentially kept the same features.

We're especially proud of the Academy portion of the event. From the start, we wanted to bring more real Victoriana information for Steampunkers to use as a launching point for their flights of fancy. This year we had classes on Bartitsu, The Occult in the Victorian era, Couples and set dances from the period, the creative (mis)use of tools for Makers, and a bit more. We had a couple of big names in the genre, such as Professor Mark P. Donnely and Thomas Willeford, both giving presentations and vending.

We are going to try again for a June show. I will post here when I know something!

Yours,

Satoriasis

Re: Events

Aahh. It was at the New England Carousel Museum in Bristol, CT. The space is a beautiful 19th century factory building filled with Victorian era carousel horses. We don't even have to decorate!

Pictures from the cabaret portion of this year's event!
