"I have silenced that corner of the room. If you wish to cast spells, cast them before engaging. It should provide us some protection from their spells." Amara said as she took out two pinches of substances from her spell pouch. She mixed them together in her hand, then spread them over her eyelids as she once more chanted.
She did not move from her position at the base of the stairs.

Still invisible, Nolan heard what Amara said as he moved forward. He didn't want to cast a Fireball in here because he was afraid to catch all these precious books on fire. So, he moved to get some cover and to start his magical assault against the trolls.

Piebald shot off two more Rapid Shots from his bow on the zombie that Silver just shot. He wanted to get the undead out of his hair, then focus on the main threat, which he considered to be Father Bache.

Francis moved in on the zombies and slashed with his sabre. Part of him felt sorry for the poor souls who once lived in these bodies and the other part of him thought it was fun to slash them up into body parts on the ground.

With Culver still in hiding, Myarra spreads her wings and speeds across the room, skimming just above the floor.  Her ultimate aim is to get to Bache, but he's still a little out of range.  Fortunately, Baal just happens to be standing conveniently in her path.

Silver continued shooting the zombies with his crossbow until they were all down. From there, he would have to see what the situation was. He looked around for anything that might pinpoint Culver hiding someplace.

Round 2 results----------

Myarra quickly flies to the Northwest of the room and nails Commander Baal as she flies by with her Greatsword. He never saw that coming at all and missed her as she flew on by. Myarra's attack also startled Lennox, who was focused on Baal. He swung his Greatsword and the large blade slipped right out of his hands and landed at location Q-24! Trolls 2 and 3 continue their attacks on the "Ghost" as Commander Baal moves to P-24 and tries to speak, but no sound is heard. Lennox is smart enough to know that if he goes for his weapon though, it might have some consequences that he might not want. Piebald rapid-fires a couple arrows and takes out Zombie 6 as Nolan does his thing while Invisible. Knowing the area he's in is currently silenced, Bache walks over to Troll-1 and tugs on it and points to Myarra, but Trolls aren't too bright and it takes it this round to figure out what Bache wants. Francis engages Zombie 7 and and two swipes from his sabre and the zombie crumples to the floor. He also notices that the zombies were guarding 4 Lizard-folk slaves in the Z-18 area and lets the group know about it. The "Ghost" sinks into the ground and is gone, as Silver shot another Zombie with his crossbow. Amara cast a spell and looked around. She sees Nolan, but there is no sign of Culver.  Aliana moves forward near Silver and Piebald and calls out to her deity for a Priestly Rebuke and destroys the last 2 zombies.

Nox is quick to recover, pursuing Commander Baal with tenacity-- a kukri, wickedly curved and held in an inverse grip suddenly held before him. He moves to stand atop his fallen sword, but makes no move to retrieve it just yet... His attentions are focused on the battle at hand.

Now that the undead were taken care of, Francis moved up to the rest of the fight and noted that Nox's sword was on the ground with Baal standing near it. Francis just shook his head and reminded his comrade of his mistake, "You've got to be kidding me. How many times did I tell you not to show off? Now, look what happened. You're bringing a knife to a sword fight!"

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

Myarra backwinged furiously as trolls turned to look at her, the action bringing her to a halt and allowing her to dive back in the direction she'd came from.  She had no problem taking on Bache, but she'd expected the trolls to be kept busy with the ghost-thingy.  She had no intention of taking on four at once.  That kind of heroism led to far to much blood leaking from her body, and she reminded herself firmly that she was not all that heroic.

Fortunately, as a ex-mercenary had told her back during her highwayman days, this was a target rich environment.  Rounding the pillar she noticed that Lennox was facing down Baal with nothing better than a curved dagger at hand, his sword lying at his feet.  Well, that certainly wouldn't do.  And it was best to take out the enemy quickly.  A living enemy could only attack you once.  A dead enemy couldn't attack you at all.  Simple math, which she more or less understood, as long as she could use her fingers, told her that taking out Baal first would make everyone's day better.

Landing behind Baal, putting Lennox directly on the other side, she applied herself to the task at hand.  "Hi honey.  Miss me?"

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

"There are no other invisible people here," Amara informed the others.

She briefly considered what she should do, and decided that deception would be best. She knew how trolls were lacking in the mental aptitude department, and knew that would be likely to try to attack what they did not know. So she decided to try to purchase time for her allies by getting the troll's attention.

So with that, she began another spell, once again her hand motions were stealthy. And with that, a phantasmal dragon with copper scales and a gleam in it's eye appeared, it's body blocking Baal off from his comrades (and vice versa), appearing as if it was hissing at troll 2 and snapped its head back as if to strike. Of course, it was silent, but so was everything else in that area.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

Round 3 results----------

Myarra, seeing that the Trolls are looking at her now, now that the ghost has disappeared, decides that she better go someplace else at the moment and goes to confront Baal. She tries to say something to him, but there is complete silence and when she swung her sword, Baal blocked the blow with his shield. Lennox moves over to his fallen sword, but swipes at Baal with his kukri dagger, but doesn't pierce his chestplate. Trolls 2 and 3 move to intercept Myarra, after seeing Bache point in her direction. Commander Baal takes a step towards the trolls to avoid the flanking and swings on Lennox with his Longsword. His first attack strikes the traitor, but his second attack is dodged. Piebald moves up and shoots two rapid shots at Father Bache, one arrow piercing the priest in the leg and the other arrow hitting the wall. Nolan starts chanting words to a spell and a Fireball exploded at location L-21, damaging Bache and the three trolls! Nolan is now visible. Troll 1 moves in on Myarra and attacks, but Myarra's armor protects her. Father Bache, still annoyed about being silenced, then hit with an arrow and then Fireballed, moves to the pillar for cover and drinks a potion. Francis quickly moves into the fight, letting Baal know that he's there as the Commander takes a slash from Francis' sabre. Silver uses the pillar as cover as he fired a bolt on Commander Baal, but fails to penetrate his Breastplate. Amara stood in the back of the party as a Copper Dragon suddenly appeared, spreading out it's long body in spaces J-21 thru N-26. Aliana, startled by the sudden appearance of a Copper Dragon, moves over next to Piebald for protection.

Nox is distracted by the arrival of his allies moving to flank Baal, and his eyes narrow in frustration. He'd called dibs on the fight, and this tipping of the scales rankled his pride. The thought is all it takes for Baal to strike through his defenses, and his reposte to miss completely.

Baal may be a danger, but Lennox and Francis are still dealing with him, so turning slightly Myarra directs a pair of attacks on the stupid creature coming up from behind.

Embarrassed at being startled, the former librarian (who was determined to be a real adventurer like in the stories she'd loved for years) moved out a bit from behind the protection of Pieface, to Y20 and tossed a bit of fluff from her pouch over to S20, where it turned into a large black bear, which rushed at the troll 2.

Then she cast a spell, summoning a mystical quarterstaff, which appeared by M21, and struck at Father Bache.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

Round 4 results----------

Now that the Trolls are coming into melee, Myarra turns around and attacks Troll 1, so it wouldn't be attacking her from behind. Lennox is a bit annoyed that everyone showed up while he was trying to take out Baal and misses his swing with his kukri dagger. Troll 2 and 3 run in and attack Francis and this is actually the first time you've seen Francis actually try in a fight as he parries and blocks claws and bites from both Trolls. Commander Baal doesn't think Nox is a threat with his sword on the ground, so he takes advantage and swings on Myarra instead. His first attack connects with her backside/wings?, but Myarra avoids the second blow...just barely. Piebald moves up and aims his arrows at Troll 2, and fires off a deadly accurate Rapid shot that avoids Francis and strikes the Troll square in the chest. Nolan is a bit confused by the sudden appearance of a Copper Dragon and waits to see what it's going to do as Troll 1 lays into Myarra with claws and bites, but one claw manages to strike home. Bache didn't like the looks of the Copper Dragon and ran to the corner of the room. Francis swung his Sabre on Troll 3, hitting the creature on the leg, arm and chest, splashing its blood on its comrade and sending the monster to it's knees. Silver talks over his shoulder to Amara and probably missed his shot on Troll 3 because of this as Amara directs the "Copper Dragon" to move and distract the enemy. Aliana had a plan as she tossed a bit of fur from her magic bag and directed the Bear to attack the trolls, but as for casting her spell, she couldn't see beyond the Trolls, Bear and Piebald for it to be of any good at the moment, so she delayed that option.

Baal's audacity in turning his back to Nox enrages him, and his eyes glow quite suddenly with eldritch energy that spreads to dance along shoulders and arms and down to his feet. His face contorts in an almost fiendishly evil manner as he reminds Baal that even without his weapon of choice, Nox is no foe to so lightly disregard... The very same way he'd proven to the Commander he was worth recruiting all those months ago in the first place.
