Piebald wanted to get Bache, but he didn't want to run by the Trolls. Also, this new bear that formed out of a ball of fur was interesting and he figured it could help take out Troll-3, so Piebald moved over next to the pillar and fired off two rapid shots that were point blank on Troll-2.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

Amara was not pleased. She had hoped that her illusion would draw at least some attacks. Trolls weren't known as the brightest of creatures, and she had figured they would attack the dragon as the biggest obvious threat. But that didn't seem to be the case.

Still, it might be doing some good, as Bache ran from it. So she had the dragon appear to continue threatening Bache, moving behind him with lumbering steps, appearing as if it was hissing a threat, though of course, in the silenced area, nothing could be heard.

Meanwhile, she moved, so that her back would not be exposed if someone came down the stairs, to DD31.

Nolan pulled out a scroll and read from it and threw a bead across the room as the area exploded into another fireball, damaging the trolls again. He couldn't see the commander in the middle of the fight, but if he got him in the blast, all the better. Francis would recover from his burns.

Silver considered himself to be a good shot with his crossbow, but he didn't want to take a chance and accidentally shoot one of his comrades, so he decided that he would move to a better position (V-18) and then go North along that wall and into the room to the West. That would be a good plan, he thought to himself.

Myarra feels the first blow from Baal, the blow barely blocked by the chainmail running down between her wings, and manages to wiggle enough to avoid the second.  She desperately wants to turn around and put the arrogant bastard down, but she can't spare the time when also trying to avoid the troll that's trying to disembowel her.  The feel of claws slicing skin weakens her grip on her sword momentarily and she nearly loses it.  Fortunately, the great thing about two-handed swords is that you have two hands holding them.  Recovering her grip she slashes the creature in return.  "Drop, damn you.  I need to teach the asshole behind me some manners" she says silently.

Troll-3 was barely standing, so Frances let the bear have at it while he attacked Troll-2. His first two attacks slashed up the troll, but his last attack bounced off the rubbery hide of the creature.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

Round 5 results----------

Myarra almost loses her grip on her weapon, but recovers to hit Troll-1 with a nasty slash to the leg with her second attack. Lennox is so close to hitting Commander Baal, but the warrior again blocks Nox's Kukri slash as Troll-2 and Troll-3 attack Francis with a flurry of claws and bites. Troll-2 manages a slash on the Duelist. Baal turns and faces Lennox and swings his longsword on the man he considered to be part of his army, hitting him on his first attack, but missing on the second...just barely. Piebald fires off another rapid shot of arrows at Troll-2 and hits the monster square in the chest with both shots, as Nolan cast a spell from a Scroll and another Fireball erupted in the area, killing all three Trolls and damaging Commander Baal and Francis. The Commander doesn't look too good now as he recovers from a stumble and Nolan's scroll disintegrates. Bache, now out of the area of the Silence Spell, casts a spell on Myarra, but she easily resists the paralyzing effects of the spell and that upsets the cleric to no end! Francis slashes at the burning Trolls to make sure they were dead as Silver moves to a better position to go after Bache. Amara moves to a better location for her own safety as she directs her "Dragon" to go after Bache. She could tell her spell was working because his attention was now on her illusion. Aliana and her Bear attack Commander Baal, but the bear's claws and bite couldn't get through his armor and her spell didn't do much either as he blocked it with his shield.

Nox covers his frustration and pain with a laugh, taunting the Commander even as his posture shifts in a defensive manner mid slash. "THERE'S The Baal I once almost respected but for his ties to the Cult.... Come on then, show me what you're truly made of."

While amazed that her friend Amara could summon a dragon (though she wondered if it were some kind of "mock dragon", which was still impressive ), Sister Aliana wanted to help take down the evil cleric.
While keeping up her attacks from her summoned weapon and bear, she herself ran foward, stay out of the crowded melee by the commander,  to get closer to the cleric , drawing her bow.

Once the trolls (especially the one attacking her) collapsed in a ball of fire ... thanks to Nolan, although she'd stick needles in her eyes before she'd let him know she was grateful for his magic ... Myarra returned her attention to Baal, her blade striking at him twice in quick succession, forcing him to pay attention and defend himself from multiple sides.  No matter how good he was, he was going down.

Round 6 Results----------

Myarra turned to Baal after watching the Trolls burn and slashed at him with her Greatsword, but the Commander is definitely skilled and blocks both of her attacks. Lennox too slashes at Baal with his kukri dagger, but he's just not getting through. Now that he was surrounded and severely wounded, Commander Baal wanted nothing to do with the fight and decided to move to Father Bache for healing. Nox took advantage of this and slashed the Commander as he was trying to flee, but the Bear took the Commander out. Nolan blasted Bache with a Magic Missile spell and took the old priest out.

Battle is over.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 172

At the suggestion of possible questioning, Francis checks out Commander Baal and determines that he is dead. The Trolls are well beyond regeneration and Silver tells the group that Bache is dead as well. As for Culver, he was never spotted at all, so it's unknown where the sneaky Wizard is. Nolan speaks to the Lizardfolk in the corner and tells them that Tursk and several more of their kind are up the stairs. The Lizardfolk thank him and the group and run up to meet up with their kin.

The room down here is a bit dusty, but fairly clean. The walls of the room are lined with shelves with books stacked neatly like a library. The room is well lit, with chandeliers that give off a magical light that would have made the room even brighter if the floor was cleaned. The two side rooms are filled with more books, but the interesting thing down here is the large, levitated grey stone that is swirling clock-wise in the Northern part of the room (Area G-27 on Group Map U). The stone is about 2 feet in diameter and about 5 feet tall and is levitated about 2 feet in the air and is slowly swirling around in place.

"Myarra? Nolan? Lennox? Is that you?"

The "Ghost" materializes near the swirling stone.

Lennox cleans Baal's blood from his kukri. He might not have had the killing blow, but he'd accounted himself well against the man. After shesthing the blade, he retrieves his greatsword, amd that too is sheathed almost simultaneously with the ghost's materialization. "Lennox is here." He acknowledges.

Myarra took a moment to clean her sword and tie it into its place on her back while everyone else does their routines.  She's just moving towards Aliana to beg some healing when she hears the voice of the ghost, which causes her to turn back in confusion.  She knows plenty of people that have ended up dead, but none that would know both Nolan and Lennox in addition to herself.  Given that Lennox has already answered, she hesitates for a moment, giving the ghost time to identify itself, or at least make itself a bit more visible.

Amara narrowed her eyes as the speaking stone as she drew her dagger and moved forward toward the collapsed bodies. The trolls were burning, which was fine, but these two should have some interesting items on them. But first, she was going to be sure they were good and dead, making an extra slit in their throats. Then she began to pull any items that looked interesting, valuable, or odd, placing them in a pile so that magic could be detected upon them. As she worked, she occasionally glanced up at the stone, but for now, she did not view it as a threat.

"Amara, they're already dead. No need to spill more blood on my floors unless you're going to clean it up and Aliana, if you're going to look at the books, no food and drink this time. It took the scribes a week to fix what you spilled on that Engineering book you were reading."
