"...ghouls, wights, ghasts... oh my, this is not going to be fun. Approach with caution, beware of their touch, and those ghasts smell funnier than the pile of rotting bodies in here. But worry not, for Kelemvor's eye is watchful, and His grace lays upon you. Let us release those damned ones from the burden of undeath. Ssam noitcivnoc!"

With those words, Khayyim released a burst of energy, strengthening his comrade's resolve.

Standard action: Mass conviction, anyone within a 20' burst gains +2 Morale bonus on all saves, duration 50 minutes.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 183

Myarra hears the calls from the corridor and hesitates for just a moment when the announcement is made about the undead.  She hates undead.  Not in the "must kill" definition, but rather in the sense of parts of her body going bone cold in terror.  Zombies and skeletons she can deal with, when necessary, and even some of the ghasts and ghouls, if hard pressed.  But there are far worse things.  particularly ... "Ghosts?  Are there any ghosts?" she asks, finally leaving the body she'd been stripping and heading over to the corridor and peering out at the approaching enemy.  The wight gives her pause, but she plucks up her courage and moves to stand by Byron, though far enough away that they'll be able to use their swords without banging into each other.  "I don't do ghosts.  Can't.  Sorry, just can't.  I'm okay with the others, but ..."

Roenthelm regards the approaching undead with a grim expression but does not back away. He has little idea what these particular creatures were, his recent memories were to swamped with the sights and sounds of the dead for him to care much at this point.

"Stupid to think it would be different..."
He muttered to himself as one hand drifted toward the pouch at his waist.

Round 1 Results----------

Lennox's attention is focused on the items on the bodies that Khayyim pointed out that were magical and doesn't realize there is a fight about to start outside the room, as Nolan orders his Golem to move to the front to protect the party, he himself Levitating to the ceiling. Kallyan moves into the hall, with her panther following, and casts a Magic Fang Spell on Raieylan, followed by a Flaming Sphere spell to burn the undead coming down the hall, as Myarra moves to the doorway to peek out at what's coming. Byron moves to the middle of the hallway to give himself some fighting room with his Greatsword as the undead move closer with more coming into view. Twiggy casts a Shield of Faith on Byron, to give him a better chance of defending himself as more Wights appear up the hallway. The Golem is big and moves slowly to Nolan's commands, as Roenthelm stays in the middle of the party to aid anyone who might need help with something. Sister Aliana pulls out her Holy Symbol and waits for the Undead to get within range, so she could use her Deity's power over them, as Khayyim moves towards the party and casts a spell to aid them in the fight. Amara looks on in disbelief as more undead appear out of the mist.

Remember House Rule #6: You as a player can post your action anytime during the round and also change your actions up until I update the round. I think this will speed up the rounds a tad, so we don't have to wait on someone so you can post.

"Let us not rush things, shall we? Keep close, do not let them flank you. Fighters outside, casters inside, and call if you need healing. Now don't just move yet... there we go. Highness, your might descends upon your humble servants! The Wall of Souls shelters us!"

There was a faint moaning as a pale shroud surrounded Khayyim and his allies. Faceless, ethereal warriors wearing armors from all ages of Faerun's history circled the adventurers, ready to shield them from harm. Without further ado, the cleric clutched his holy symbol and advanced towards the undead.

"I really hate the undead," Myarra tells Byron casually, her sword held in a two-handed grip.  Despite its weight, the tip remains motionless in the air before her.

"There's no glory in killing them; they're already dead.  And really, they don't actually die, they just stop moving.  Most of them aren't even really evil, they're just puppets that can kill you set in motion by some other evil bastard that doesn't dare face you.  And the ones that can think for themselves aren't even really there most of the time.  They're always insubstantial or ethereal or astral or whatever.  Give me a dragon any day.  Sure, they're pure death on four legs, but they're honest foes that you can respect.  Undead are just another abomination some priests came up with one day when they couldn't think of any other way of screwing up the world."

With the others forming up around her ... all behind the golem, if they're smart, all she can do is wait for something to come into the reach of her sword.

The sword and mace are quickly shoved into the looped straps of leather on the outside of Lennox's haversack, complimenting his crowbar in a readily visible and utilitarian manner. The other trinkets are scooped up and shoved into a pocket for now. If the impending fight went sideways, it would be best to ensure no loot was left behind if running became the order of the day. That done he double times it out into the hallway with his greatsword in hand... Ready to take up a ready position alongside the others.

In reply to Myarra (msg # 976):

I can easily see your point of view regarding them Myarra.  However, we will need to make short work of those that get behind the Golem.  It is my guess that will ignore it and come after the living.  So it should be able to attack with relative impunity, while we defend those of our party who are behind us and helping us.

Byron smiles at the memory of just how tough Myarra is with that sword in hand from their previous sparring.

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 183

Round 2 results----------

Lennox scoops up treasure that Khayyim pointed out that was magical, not wanting to leave it behind, and hustles over to the doorway with his Greatsword readied. Nolan casts a Magic Missile on Ghoul 2 and rocks the undead, but it keeps coming. Kallyan directs her Flaming Sphere, hoping to run over the undead with it, as her Panther stays by her side as her protector. Myarra and Byron work together to set themselves apart, so they don't accidentally clash weapons as they wait for the undead to arrive in melee. The undead hustle in. Twiggy had his plans to help out Byron, so Byron wouldn't get flanked, but plans changed when Byron moved away with Myarra. Twiggy shrugs his shoulders and casts a spell on some of his sling stones.

The rest of the undead hustle in as the Iron Golem takes a step forward, swinging it's mighty iron fists on the approaching undead that got too close. Ghoul 2 gets smashed into goo and Ghast 4 gets rocked off the wall, but is still in the fight. Roenthelm is startled that the undead moved in so fast as Aliana waited for the undead to move into range, so she could use her Deity's power to Turn them. She called upon Oghma, but her Holy Symbol didn't glow as brightly as it should have done. The mist in the area seems to be "attacking" it, but Aliana does manage to Turn a few of the undead, who are now going to flee the area. Khayyim prays to his Deity and Faceless, ethereal warriors wearing armors from all ages of Faerun's history circled the adventurers, ready to shield them from harm. Khayyim then moves forward with his Holy Symbol out. Amara Levitates into the air, upon seeing the undead approach so quickly.

Terrified by Alana's words of divine power, several of the undead were running away. The ghast closest to Khayyim dropped all caution as it tried to flee from the priestess' wrath, giving him an opportunity to strike.

"Leaving already? And I was just getting used to the smell..." he mocked, slicing at the creature, the last few inches of the blade chopping a chunk of greyish flesh off. As the ghoul in front of him ran away as well, he took a few steps forward, letting go of the holy symbol which dangled from his wrist again, and brushed his finger against the neck of the water canteen at his belt. In a swift motion, he flicked a few droplets of water upwards, then blew towards the bulk of his opponents. A fine, silvery snow blew from his mouth, engulfing an area as broad as half the floor.

14:42, Today: Khayyim Vedim rolled 25,8 using d20+7,d10+3.  AOO Attk + dmg vs. Ghast 4.

Move more or less to R30, whatever allows me to catch as many enemy targets as possible in the 30' cone while not risking AoO.
Cast Frost breath, save DC 15 for half damage, all who fail their save are Dazed (which is fortunately one of the very few things undead aren't immune against...).

"Don't worry Byron," Myarra growls ... quite literally.  There's a fair bit of vibrato going on in her throat. "They're just pissing me off."  She really wants to head into the pack and start chopping them down, and it would be untrue to say that she's not a little put off by the voices in this place, but charging would be stupid.  And she only had to do something that dumb a half dozen time before she learned her lesson.  In all truth, she's far more rattled by the insubstantial warriors Khayyim's conjured up.  She knows they're not ghosts, but they sure as hell look like them.  "If I ever find that time rip thing Hanns was talking about, I'm going to go back and make sure this place never gets built."

It wasn't so much that Amara was dumbfounded by the approaching undead, but rather that her stomach was still turning. She levitated into the air, looking at the creatures as they approached.

She pulled a small figurine of a swordfighter from her spell component pouch. "Vigiliae ad arma conclamant umbra Legio!" She called.

16 shadowy swordfighters appeared, one each in squares O-R, 27-30, ready to attack any who might move through their ranks.

Standard Action: Cast Legion of Sentinels - one ghostly (shadow) incorporeal swordfighter appears in each square, threatening the squares adjacent to it, able to make one attack of opportunity per round. They do not hinder movement, block terrain, or block line of effect. They can flank an opponent with each other or allies.
