Seeing the size of the little bush monsters, Roen decided to assist Myarra with the Shambler and quickly moved to her side.

Trusting Byron to take care of himself, Myarra smiles broadly and charges forwards towards the shambling mound, slashing at the abomination.  "No hugs from you this time, you reeking monstrosity!"

Lennox saw the Shambler and the tall figure next to it, but he couldn't see what was attacking the horses, so he cast a Flare spell down below him to get a quick glance.

There was no doubt that Lorrik was scared as he moved closer to the tree that Amara was hiding up in, looking for cover. Lorrik didn't want to get anywhere near Byron and that giant sword of his and he was still a bit afraid to shoot his bow with Byron so close.

Round 3 results----------

Nolan cast his spell and the area in front of Byron exploded into a Fireball, setting the bushes around that area on fire. Everyone can see at least a dozen little bush creatures shriek, then fall to the ground adding to the bonfire. Byron slashes and adds another bush creature to the fire as Lorrik moved back to the tree behind him for some protection. Myarra charged in and slashed at the Shambler, a piece of rotting vegetation flying off somewhere in the darkness. Lennox saw the Shambler and the tall figure next to it, but he couldn't see what was attacking the horses, so he cast a Flare spell down below him to get a quick glance and was startled to see another Shambler! Roenthelm quickly moved to help Myarra out, figuring Byron could handle the little bush creatures as Amara Levitates and is about 5 feet above the tree-line she was just in. The Shambler Myarra is fighting swings its smelly branch arms around and hits Myarra in the side, but misses on the other arm. The other Shambler near Lennox slams and kills the horse Nolan was riding and starts stuffing itself. The last 2 little bush plants near Byron try and stab at him with their pointy arms, but they don't penetrate his armor. Aliana cast a spell and nailed the Shambler Myarra was fighting with a Searing Light spell, burning the rotting vegetation away with holy power. The Treant roared in anger at the sight of the Fireball spell and spoke a spell of its own. The tree that Amara was in, along with the tree N/E of her, start animating, their roots coming out of the ground so they can "walk". This scares the pants off Lorrik. Kalliyan can't believe that a Treant is attacking the party and moves over to it to find out what is happening, while the roar of the panther can be heard near Lennox. Waking Twiggy up and not waiting for him to "wake up", results in him fumbling around with his rapier and almost falling into the plant creature he's trying to pierce.

Twiggy get up and do something useful.  Byron roars as he moves to hit the little bush plant #2.  Instead of hitting though he stumbles over the rough ground and loses his balance for a moment causing him to almost drop his sword.

Lorrik, if you can see them you can hit them.  Shoot and don't worry about hitting me.

Wary of the kind of crushing hugs that Myarra received the day before, the very squishible cleric cast a spell.

Amara was well aware that 5 feet above animated trees was not going to be sufficient to remain out of their grasp. Using her levitation, she moved further upward. "De jejunio tardius!" she chanted.

Twiggy got his feet under him and quickly spun around after his stumble. Lashing out with his rapier he hopes the blade will do some damage on these creatures "Both of us can't be napping on the job Byron. Don't worry, I will help you out until you quit stumbling everywhere."

"Not this time!" Myarra cries with a laugh.  "I'm going to pull you like the weed you are!"

In the Wilds, the only laws that one was to follow was your own code. It's not everyday that somebody sees plant creatures and a walking tree trying to kill you. This forest is full of danger and Nolan was going to do his best to defend himself. He turned to the Treant and threw a pebble between it and the Shambler Myarra was fighting and the area exploded into a Fireball.

Lorrik couldn't handle it anymore. From Gargoyles, to Orcs, to undead and now living trees coming alive, primal instincts kicked in and he ran away heading S/E....

Lennox jumped down with point first of his Greatsword into the Shambler, hoping to impale the nasty creature while it was eating Nolan's horse.

Kali, shocked by the treants and the battle, looks overwhelmed and distracted by everyone. She mutters to herself, her eyes going wide as she clutches her temples with her hands and dropped to her knees. She looked up, a glow in her eyes as a ear splitting scream issued throughout the area.

As she screams, there seems to be an ominous sound coming from the sky.

Roen moved in on the Treant so he wouldn't get in the way of Myarra's greatsword. He couldn't believe that he was going to fight a tree, his hand started to glow as he struck the trunk.

"Be gone with you!" Roen yelled

Round 4 results----------

Nolan wasted no time after he blasted the little bush creatures to send another Fireball to hit the Shambler and the Treant. The Shambler seemed to soak up the fire with its wet vegetation body, while the Treant lit up like a bonfire during Summer Solstice. Byron swung his sword around to attack the little bush creatures, but almost fell to the ground as he saw Lorrik freak out and run away because of the trees around him coming to life. Myarra goes ballistic on the Shambler, connecting with devastating hits that kills the plant before it could harm Myarra anymore. Lennox jumps out of the tree, hoping to impale the Shambler near him, but he misses as he lands on his feet. He sees the Panther clawing the plant creature, though. Roenthelm charges in on the Treant, yelling at the plant creature to leave the party alone, as he socked the tree on the trunk with a metallic clink, but it didn't do anything to the Treant. Amara continued to Levitate above the Animated Tree as she cast a Spell near the Treant, but it doesn't appear to have affected the plant and the Shambler is already dead. The Shambler Lennox is fighting, stops and turns its attention to him and Lennox quickly realizes that this creature has a big mouth as it rears up to about 15 feet in height and tries to bite Lennox. Fortunately for Lennox, there is still parts of Nolan's horse in its mouth as the creature bites at air. Little plant 2 and 3 try and poke Byron, but they can't pierce his plate armor. Aliana, fearing being crushed, cast a Fly spell and tries to get off the ground as far as she could.

The Treant looks down at Roenthelm with Evil Red Eyes as he Tramples the Priest,

"Mazmular compels me to kill you all!"

The Animated trees rip their roots out of the ground and move in on the party, #1 Trampling Nolan. Kalliyan definitely knows there is something wrong as it seems that nature is against her, falls to her knees and screams as she summons a storm. A bolt of lightning hits the Treant and for a few seconds its eyes go back to normal,

"Flee little lady. This area is cursed...."

Then the Evil Eyes come back,

"Mazmular compels me to kill you all!"

Kalliyan's panther continues to claw at the "Shambler", but it doesn't appear the cat is doing anything as Twiggy impales plant 3 with his rapier and kills it, making Byron look bad. But, with the two animated trees near them, there is no time to gloat...

Byron turns to leave plant #2 to Twiggy and moves to attack the thing that is attacking Nolan.
Byron moves from T32 to X29.

I'm getting really tired of plants trying to kill me.  So I'm sorry Kali, but I'm going to have to kill them first.

Kali can hear the seriousness of Byron's statement, but also the regret over having to kill plants in his tone.

"Flicka, go with Lorrik. Make sure he doesn't flee into danger. And get him back to us after he calms a bit."

The little hummingbird emerges from her robes. Flicka doesn't like flying in the dark - no hummingbird does. But after pausing for a moment, flits off after the fleeing boy.

Amara points her wand at one of the small, thorny creatures, "Fearnus!" A small blast of light flings from the wand, striking the creature. She carried this wand for instances like this, where the creatures they fought were not susceptible to her sorts of spells.

Nolan knew he had to get away from these trees before getting stomped to death, so he mumbled a few words and a bright doorway opened as he rolled into it and was gone, only to appear in another place moments later.

Twiggy's thrill of the kill was short lived as the other plant things closed in.  He lashed out again at one but stabbing a tree is hard to do "Come on Byron, all those muscles and big weapons must be good for something."

Roen quickly rolled out of the way, or tried to, and looked at the Treant again. He saw the plants eyes and how it appeared and Roen thought there was something wrong.

"What is wrong with you and who is Mazmular?"

17:28, Today: Roenthelm rolled 22 using 1d20+8.  Tumble.

"I don't want to hurt you, but I will if you make me," Myarra calls to the big tree.  "Call off this attack and let us speak!"

She'd like to stop and wait for the tree to surrender, but she's pretty sure that whatever this Mazmular is, it's controlling the tree, and not about to let it surrender.  So if the choice is between the tree and the party ... leaving the dead shambler behind, she raises her sword and stalks carefully towards the tree to help Roenthelm.

Kali, still kneeling looks at the treant with unseeing eyes, her pupils almost white as she look at the tree, and screams. Another bolt of lightning issues forth at the scream, hitting the treant with the fury of nature.

Raieylan, hearing the second scream, looks at the woman for a second, then bounds off the tree, making it's way to Kali to protect the woman with a low growl.

Round 5 results----------

Nolan didn't like getting stomped on by the animated tree, so he cast a spell to get out of the area. A bright doorway opened, he rolled through and appeared near Kalliyan. Byron moved over to attack the tree that was stomping Nolan, but his big sword got caught in the branches and did nothing, as he watched Lorrik flee into the dark. Myarra moved in on the Treant to help out Roenthelm, who was prone on the ground. She called out to the plant, but it didn't say anything to her, so she slashed it with her sword, which got its attention. Lennox looked up at the 15 foot tall plant and slashed at it with his sword, but if he wasn't seeing things, he could have sworn the slash repaired itself. With the Treant's attention now on Myarra, Roenthelm tumbles out of the way as Amara sends her little hummingbird after Lorrik and blasts the last little plant with a Magic Missile from her wand. The little plant explodes. The 15 foot tall "Shambler" swings mighty "arms" on Lennox, one of them hitting him in the side and then Lennox gets bit and lifted up off the ground! Aliana, hovering some 30 feet in the air, cast another Searing Light, which nailed the Treant on the trunk, splitting it open and sending the big tree falling to the ground. The 2 Animated trees stop where they are and take root again. Kalliyan, still on her knees and looking to the sky, screams that sends shivers up your spine, as another Lightning Bolt falls from the sky and strikes the downed Treant. The Panther didn't like what was happening at all and hopped over to Kalliyan's side in full protect mode as Twiggy made sure the last "Sapling" was truly "dead", after poking it with his rapier.
