Byron Rockhead:
A war would not be helpful to the peaceful citizens of Triel or to the peaceful citizens here who just want to live a normal happy and healthy life.  My friends and I are fighting the Cult of the Dragon in various ways.  As we did not expect to be granted an audience with you in such a short time, some of my friends are asking around about ways to get an audience with you my lord.  We all greatly appreciate your time and interest with our concerns for innocent citizens who want to make a peaceful living.

"To tell you the truth Byron, if I didn't see Vernon there, I probably wouldn't have talked to you. One of the priests would have taken your statement. But, I'm glad we had this conversation. If you're going to be fighting the Cult of the Dragon, just be careful. Don't get in over your head. I'll send some of the priests with you to interview Jameson. It was good meeting you, but I have some important matters to attend to now."

Thank you for your time Lord Dhelt.  We greatly appreciate what you are doing.  We will be careful in our battle with the Cult of the Dragon.

Byron will be happy to take the priests to see Jameson.

Do you think Lord Dhelt would be interested in helping them?"

Kali, listening to Byron speaking to the Lord, held his arm tighter. She smiled at the man, for the first time speaking. "My Lord, speaking plainly.....as lethal as the cult may be, Byron and our friends have managed well defeating them so far. We have some powerful allies."

"If you do encounter the mine that you seek and deem it too dangerous, send word along and I'll see what I can do."

Byron can tell that Lord Dhelt really wants to help, but he's stuck in a political position. Both of you shake hands, he bows to Kalliyan and gives a nod to Vernon and then he goes on his way to do his business. 3 priests are assigned to you to go and interview Jameson and his family. As you're going down the hill, you meet up with Roenthelm, who was going up.

Byron explains everything to Roenthelm and he now knows everything about the meeting Byron just had.

"I honestly don't know if he can help. Lord Dhelt is a powerful man, but he still has rules to follow."

"Exactly. He has responsibilities to Elturel and might not be able to do anything."

"Such a shame, too. People under the rule of a bad lord suffer. Well, hopefully, something can be done to help them. But, right now, it's time for our shifts."

Twiggy tosses a few more silvers onto the table for drinks to the gaurds "Here is a few drinks to you. Our last delve proved productive and ones like you should profit to, if not but for a few drinks. The cult of the dragon locked me away for over two decades and I want to make sure they don't do that to anyone else. You all have a good night."

Roen enjoyed the walk around the town and smiled when he met up with Byron and Kalliyan.

"That is good news from Lord Dhelt, no doubt. If we could find the mine and determine how dangerous it is, or if the rumors of slave labor are true, we could have a powerful ally on our side. We should find everyone else and spread the news."

Keep in mind that we have several other things we have to do at the same time as well.  We got to Lorrik's sisters to Soubar.  Lorrik to Daak, find Vernon's wife to give her his ring, stop Culver, and I'm sure I'm missing a couple of things that are on the list before this stuff blew up.

True Vernon, but even going to Scornubel first and then to Soubar we still have to travel through Triel.  However, going to Scornubel first then Soubar only exposes us to one trip through Triel in the foreseeable future.

Byron purposely addresses Vernon so that the others know that I'm replying to something that he logically pointed out to me and that I see his point clearly.

Realizing that Byron is talking to Vernon,

"I completely understand that we need to take your ring back to your wife in Scornubel, but I think it would put the children in danger. We need to take them to Soubar first by taking the trail through the Fields of the Dead. Completely bypass Triel."

Kali, listening to Byron and Roenthelm speak (only because she couldn't hear vernon), the druid thought.

"What if I took the ring...flew as a bird. That way you could focus and then vernon can rest."

She shuffles, as she spoke. "I have no urge to go alone, but as a bird I can avoid his men and get there faster, then come back and help you."

It was clear that even though she knew it was the right thing to do, the thought of going on her own scared her a bit

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 196-213

Byron smiles at Kali and shakes his head.

No Kali.  I can think of 2 main reasons for that not to be a good idea.  One, Scornubel is a bigger city than here or Triel or Soubar and as such has more dangers you are not accustomed to.  While I'm certain Vernon would help you navigate the streets of Scornubel easily, somethings are better left to a group.  Two, your big friend would never forgive me if anything ever happened to you if it involved me even if I wasn't present.  I really don't want to be his lunch if I it is in my power to prevent harm to you.  If pressed I'm sure I could think of more reasons that it would be a bad idea.  Besides look how nervous you are here in Triel.  Alone in Scornubel would really drive that nervousness and anxiety up for you.

"Temple of Oghma? Where was that?"

"It's near the Gardens on the West side."

"I don't know what to tell you, little lady. You could go up the hill and talk with a priest of Helm, who might relay a message?"

The guards thank Twiggy for the extra coin to pay for their drinks.

Aliana perked up hearing that there was in fact an Oghman temple in town.
She was frankly embarrassed, as a librarian, not to know where they all were

"I agree, Kalliyan. We should all stay together. We know a secret that upsets the Cult of the Dragon. I think we should meet up with the rest of our group to discuss what to do next. Myarra went back to check up on Lorrik and his sisters, but I don't know where Amara, Aliana and Twiggy went off to."

Kali takes on a calmer look of relief. She did not really want to go alone, but to help the ghost that had helped them all she would if needed.

She smiled at roenthelm and looked at Byron. "He would never harm you for my decisions....he may blame you, but that will be it. He would return to the wild then and you'd never see him again."

She had a gleam in her eye as she continued. "But you keep me close, master Byron, and I know he'll be close by....watching you."

Re: 1372: The Year of Wild Magic: Day 196-213

Byron smiles at Kali as he pulls her closer to him.  His tone clearly teasing and lighthearted with both love and concern for her.

I like your big protector, but he wouldn't believe either of us if we told him that.  I've promised him that I will keep you safe in places he wouldn't be so welcome.  I will keep that promise as I don't want to become his lunch.   It would be the one fight I know I would lose.

Byron returns to more serious matters at hand.

Lorrik's sisters need a full day's rest.  We all could use some rest as well. Do we want to hang out here for a little while to see if any of the others come this way or head back to the inn?
