Re: Start up

Hey Ron...  not sure how it works from the DM side, but from the player side its great!

Private messages, colored text, direct access to a character sheet from where ever...

Anyway, take a look around and see what you think...  I don't know if any of the others have ever looked at the site either, so don't know if they'd even be interested in trying it!

It's a little confusing navigating.  I think I'm in a spot I want to be in but not really.  Just have to get used to the interface.  So do you store your character or do I?

Re: Start up

There is an option to "open" the character sheet to the player... that let's us post it in, update it, etc. but you can see it.  Makes a good place for the DM and player to adjust the sheet as necessary.

Re: Start up

Oh and group 0 is always public, so its a good place to post general topics, information about joining the game, etc.  But, if you want to have your game locked down for the actual posts, OOC, etc. then you can create threads on different group numbers and assign the players to those groups.

Some DMs give each player a private group with a private thread to post side stuff, but sometimes that's just better in the PM section.

Are you sure you can't upload a character now?

Re: Start up

Yep, when I click character details, there is normally a link that says "Edit Character Sheet" and I don't have that available.

If you can't find it, I can ask another buddy of mine that's run several games on here to give me a run-down of some of the more common DM controls he uses if you want me to ask him...

Try now, I sort of started a sheet and chose User Editable so maybe that will do it.

Re: Start up

Yep, that did it..  didn't know that you had to create it initially, but  guess a lot of DMs do post in a blank sheet initially...

Anyway, I pasted that Delith Version of Aztar I had from back then into the sheet for you to see...

Re: Start up

Yep... the more powerful items he got after we destroyed the lich and we lost most of our stuff... then there was the troll ship where we got the magic chair, the doors and a lot of misc. magic.

On top of that, with Aztar being an alchemist, its his primary "thing" since he doesn't have any actual spells to cast...

But, the exoskeleton definitely changed his fighting ability, but now that he's back to well equiped with stuff, he doesn't use that directly too often...

Re: Start up

If Ron opened it up to you, click on character details and there there is an "Edit character sheet" option.  Everything you put in there is private between you and the DM.

The character picture and description are public to everyone.

Edit: where you put "Description here?" I can see by clicking on the cast link and then on your name.

Hello all,
I am replying to this message by using an RSS feed on Firefox.  Actually it's from within RPOL; but using an RSS feed in Firefox I got notice that there were new messages when I clicked on the feed it sent me to RPOL and then I started this message.  This may work for your notifications.  You can get the RSS feed from your user preferences.

Re: Start up

I figure I'll add the message here too with a little more info.

We'll be starting in Calator.  Approx 4 years ago a rock from the sky crashed into the planet about 60 miles to the East and North.  The impact left a crater about 2 miles wide but only about 500' deep.  It hit right at the base of a mountain that was rich in mineral ore.  The area is very rich in precious metals, gemstones and unusual minerals and even metal alloys, probably as a result of the impact.

Calator was heavily damaged in the shock wave and fallout of the blast; but has been mostly rebuilt and even upgraded due to the extra wealth brought to the area from the richness of the area discovered after the impact.  However a fair number of those who have spent significant time at the site have been getting seriously ill and dying.  Also to complicate matters are localized areas with varying degrees of magic, making it weaker or stronger.  One more thing to complicate matters, the dark trolls are making visits to the area now as well.

Re: Start up

Well, lets try this again.  I did try to post yesterday... but it did not show up today.  Not sure if I did somethign wrong or not.  I think I am getting this figured out.  We'll see though.  This has some advantages... but I do have to remember to come check the site.

Is there a way that I can get it to tell me just when there are new messages in the game and not all the big boards?

In reply to Shorty (msg #22):

Go into User Preferences, I think from there you can limit which of the groups you get alerts for so you can reduce the list the this board.
