Shorty looks at the two young men intently.  At the snort behind him, he reaches over and gives the mage a heafty thump on the back.  “No drink so much old mage.” Then “Shorty turns back to the two young men.  “Me have to thk bout this.  It be okay if you want take care of horse.  Me like it cook all way through.  Not like meat still be red.  I think called well done.  Like lota garlic and onion too.  But member.  Very important rule.  Neve cook Mayor special horse.  Me do dat when go old Mage world.  Mayor get mad.  Not sure why.  Horse old tough.  Not good eat and me was hungry.” Shorty pauses for a second and says, “Not sure about Knight teachin either.  Me know dat to be knight had to fight really bad fight, get almost kilt, and den save whole world.  Very not fun hard job.  But me ken teach fight.  Might need good helmet thogh.  Or head hurt.  Ken teach most important rule. “ Shorty points to the dwarf, elf, human, and No Man and Trinny.  And even reluctantly at Dualis.  “Pick good friend.  Soldier and fighter maybe run away, but friend stand at back and always be there.  Good friend die fer you if needs to be done.”

After Shorty pats Dualis' back he then clears his throat "Thank you Shorty, ahem."

Pat and Robert again look at each other after Shorty's statement and they each have a half smile, perhaps mildly confused, neither speaks.

You will notice that Alannon is making his way at a quick walking pace over to you all.

"Sorry my friends" he says "It has been a while since we were all able to gather like this and  there were many to meet.  I still owe you all some explanations.  But please, finish gathering your food and drink and then we can discuss.  We will go over there."  He indicates an open area of grass over near Dualis' tent.

"Oh and try not to eat too much, just in case." he finishes and smiles.

Shorty finishes his meat roll and fruit juice.  He indicates the rolls in the mens hand.  “Should eats.  Gonna needs food to work tomorrow.  Can maybe hang up old armor on tree thing please while me suffer through more mage talkin.” Shorty then slngs his pack over his shoulder and grabs a pitcher of juice and wanters over to the tent.  He waves to the Druid as he walks.

Warwick grabs an apple and another mug of age and follows the others.

Trysk pauses for a minute and uses his psionicist to create an additional 2 arms so that he can becarry his plate of food, his mug, a bottle of blue wine and a bottle of Poltorak Mead into the tent.

In reply to Trysk (msg # 42):

You all grab some food and drink and make your way to a patch of field over by Dualis' tent.

Dualis starts over and a carafe of blue wine, pitcher of Oakley's Special and pitcher of Mead follow him.

"Trysk, just remember, using your psionics calls out to any who happen to be passing by in the ethereal of astral planes to say, I am here.  Unlikely they would show up, given the company."

You each find a spot on the turf and are about to sit when Dualis calls out "Table and chairs."

You will notice a few moments later several, what look like flat tables and chairs float out of Dualis' tent.  They split off so that there is one pair for each person.  The tables and chairs then unflatten or unfold.  Out from the bottom of the table, 4 legs swing out.  The chairs sort of unfold as the legs and seat pivot near the middle to form the full chair.  Each chair has a padded seat.  Both items are made of wood.  A table goes in front of each person and a chair behind.  The tables are about 3' by 2' and the chairs are sized for each individual.

Dualis sets his food on the table and the carafe and pitcher settle on the table, then he sits down.  "Ah, 'modern' convenience."

Alannon just looks at the items near him and says, "I prefer to stand, thank you." he then takes a breath.

"Settle in all, now to tell of what you have and more."

Shorty whispers (sort of), “Shh friend.  Need know what he have to tell.  Eben you.  An maybe what gots to tell more den just what new present do.  Already him say more work need doin.” Shorty realizes then that he left his glass behind.  He shrugs and sips more juice from the pitcher.

Trysk nods, "Good to know, Dualis.

Alannon smiles at Warwick's comment.  "Kind of you to say Warwick; but we feel it is barely anything for what you all gave us."  he clasps his hands together.  "Now, on to the items we gave you.  We shall start with Warwick.  Your boots of flying will give you a maximum flying speed of 21 but with a maneuver class of 'B'.  Watch out going full speed on those tight turns, you might get light headed.  They will also give you flight of up to 4 hours per day. On Arcturus they provide unlimited flight time with flight speed of 24 and class 'A' maneuverability. Try not to do a full turn at top speed here, I am not sure if you will have all your parts afterward."

He then looks at Trysk. "Trysk, as you know that belt I had in my younger days." he winks "The elemental belt will give protection to the various elements, one at a time, depending on which you choose thru the gems.  It will provide a +2 save and reduced damage.  The ruby protects against fire, the sapphire against cold, the emerald against gases, the garnet against earth based magic and the diamond against lightning.  All you need do is tap the gem for the protection you want active.  On Arcturus, all of them are active."

Looking over at Morteft. "Morteft, the Staff of the Four Winds has a +3 enchantment.  As I mentioned earlier, the staff may look brittle given its crystal structure however it is as strong as steel if not more so, strikes for 1-8+3.  It has various spell powers, Control Winds 2/day, Obscurement 2/day, Call Lightning 1/day, Weather Summoning 1/day, Rainbow 1/day and Ice Storm 2/day. On Arcturus it has 1 extra casting per day as well as being able to cast Control Weather, for which it only takes 1 round to cast and the change coming within 2 minutes time."

Warwick slips on the boots.  "This is a kingly gift, Alannon, thank ye.  I'm going to have to get used to flying from me feet instead of leading with me head."

Trysk nods, "Yes, tis a wonderful gift you have given us, but why does it sound like our stay here is not over, yet?"

Shorty grins.  “More to dos.  Friends stay longer wid Shorty.  An now we gots squires to.  Wonder if dem as much fun as squirrels.  Kind of sound the same.”

In reply to Shorty (msg # 51):

"Ha ha" Alannon laughs  "No no Trysk, there is no other imminent threat.  Since the the items are attuned to this world they have extra powers while on Arcturus, this you should  know.  Of course perhaps your assistance will be needed in the future."

Looking over at Shorty. "As far as Shorty there are many things to mention.  First his items, staring with the armor.  This special leather armor is infused with iron wood and therefore it is a tough as chain mail but much lighter.  It is also enchanted to +4. Further it has the property where all blunt items do only 1/2 damage."

He motions to the diadem.  "The Diadem of Clarity increases his mental acumen.  Since he was almost incapacitated by the psionicist it was felt he needed some extra protection.  And then there is the sword."  he puts his hands together with a little rub.

"Tainkintana is made of a special alloy called Thunderbolt Iron.  A shooting star fell over 10,000 years ago and the metal from it was mixed with the metals of Arcturus.  It is also called Horizons, where sky and earth meet.  It is a +4 weapon, here on Arcturus it is +6.  It is highly intelligent and has other powers which I will not boar you with and he will relate these to Shorty in due time.  Although I will tell you it can Teleport him back to Arcturus as well as his companions."

Shorty momentarilu looks sad that there isn’t more for his friends to do.  But as he listens to Alannon he grows excited.  “Horizons can bring family here?!?  Den not have to ask Old Mage fer favor.  Means gots to find new home not close to many peoples where Baby can fly an not scare eberybody.  Keep is nice houe but under da ground not best place fer Baby.” Shorty looks around at his friends.  “Much to do.  Alannon know where can look?  Maybe Warwick ken fly around to look too since him go so fast now?” Shorty has a scary look of concentration on his face.  “And gotsta grow trees and grass too cause me no like dat dust.”  Shorty reaches back and strokes the hilt of his sword happily.

"Aye, I can scout, but I suspect I don't need to.  Allanon, where might Shorty make a new home here and keep his Baby safe from others and them from him?"

Shorty grumbles.  “Baby no hert.  Him protect all who smaller.  Eberybody Eberybody smaller now him growin.  Eben me.”

Alannon has a small chuckle "Yes Shorty, that is another thing I wanted to talk to you about.  Dualis came to the council some time ago and mentioned Baby.  He was wondering if we would consider Baby coming to live here on Arcturus.  He mentioned Baby was a red but so far has not shown the tendencies of its kin.  This being a relatively new world and virtually dragonless, it may be an ideal place to grow up." he smiles "The Council agrees, we would like baby to live here and learn." Alannon's smile widens.  "Although Baby will not actually be the biggest.  There is one dragon that did survive on Arcturus.  He was hidden deep away.  He is a young adult gold dragon, by the name of Auric.  He can help teach Baby, a good complement I think.  His dwelling is all ready, you may bring Baby when ever you are ready."
