Delith: Treasure Pick

OOC: Starting a thread for this as well.  Are you guys really going to use a d6 to determine the initial pickor something higher like a d20 - the higher die will reduce the number of ties and rerolls.

Also, so I am clear, the agreed upon process will be ..
Have a die roll-off to determine the initial order.
Once established, you pick treasure in that order and reversing the order in subsequent rounds, so that odd rounds the first person in the order picks first and even rounds the last person picks first, like the following pick order  12345 54321 12345 54321 12...

This will begin with the next treasure pick

After each treasure pick is completed the order for the next treasure pick will rotate right to left so (I will use letters to make it less confusing) if the treasure pick completed was
S M T W E then the next pick order will be M T W E S , then T W E S M ...

One suggestion, any new player coming in goes to the back of the order .. I did not see anything about that in the discussion.

Sorry I meant rounds within the same treasure pick.

Then switch the order, as you have shown, after each treasure pick is completed.

OOC - I think because they probably only had 6 sided dice back then! LOL!

I'm fine with using a d20 for determining the next round order.

Trysk is fine with the new party member starting at the end of the line.

OOC:  First,  Please explain what "Trysk is fine with the new party member starting at the end of the line."  Not sure I like the way this sounds.

As previously stated, Shorty will wait until all are done with as many picks as they choose.  Ge will then select from anything that remains or nothing at all.  Shorty will roll his position but will pass his turns to the end i.e. when he returns from Arctiurus

I don't remember what the picking order is.  I believe we agreed it's however we left off from the last time.  So, it's a matter of finding the postings from our last picking.  In the future, I suggest we create separate threads for each treasure picking to make it easier.

The current list of the haul is what I just posted.  As for pick order... the onld one is probably near the beginning of this thread.  I can keep it in the rolling treasure list for the future.

It would probably be a good idea if someone took marginal command of this base.  Tracked the maps and made changes as necessary.  And kept track of what group items are stored here as opposed to personal possessions.  I decline the job,  Akready trying to track of stormhold, its residents, and its treasure room.

My input, the way we did it if someone joins with or is accepted by a sentient item we considered that the person's first pick.

Which would be Trysk in this case, if Sizzle accepts him.  Warwick already had the battle axe, it was just modified so it would not fit that category.

Again, just my input.

OK, this is what I found:

In message 796 of Some R&R, Rest & Resurrection:

BIC - Trysk replies, "I'm good with the person picking first in a round picking last in the next round, but instead of a die roll each mission,  would it be fairer for us to roll just once, re-rolling ties, and then just rotate the order? That is, whoever picks second this mission would pick first the next mission, and so forth. That way everyone will definitely get a chance to pick first."

As far as I can tell, only Ez'ard responded in message 798:

"fine as long as the cast of characters remains the same"

Book of Construction - magical tome that allows you to build a structure in 30% less time and cost and the structure is 50% stronger.

Hawk Helm - helm shaped like a hawks head, can see 3x further, gives infravision, immune to fear and confusion.

Cubic Gate - other 5 sides not known yet.  Yes the cube goes with you.

Magic bottle - bottle of duplication - Pour a potion into it and after a week it will have two doses - pour the first back out.  There is a chance a random potion is made instead.

Crossbow of the Kings - combines speed/distance/accuracy, +3

Cloak of Pilfering (Thieves class) - acts as a cloak of blending and displacement, has 10 pockets that can hold 100 pounds each.

Ah yes, flail of the elements - fire, cold, electric.  Roll to hit per flail head (3).  The flail is +3 and a hit with any of the heads causes an extra 1-6 damage of that element type.

The Arduin Grimoire is another gaming system - I have the original 3 volume set.

In reply to Ron, The DM (msg # 44):

Couple of questions.....  One for the DM and several for the team.

Is the Iron Flask occupied?

Fpr everyone else.

1)  Shorty is very interested in seing the two inteligent evil swords destroyed.  He will use some of his picks to accomplish them if that is the groups deisre or we can all agree to feed them to the walking bug.
2)  The three sets of +1 Ites...  Can they move as a lot vice individually?  Obviously not for personal use.....

I have undated my list with the one Ron posted in my word document.  I will mark the two evil swords as destroyed and the +1 stuff to the two realms.  I will track the picks from there.  Do not forget there are still items left from the dwarven adventure as well.

We keep the same order for every round of this treasure haul, i.e.

Ez'ard should be next.

Then next time we have a haul to split, it would be:

Shorty

Have a die roll-off to determine the initial order.
Once established, you pick treasure in that order and reversing the order in subsequent rounds, so that odd rounds the first person in the order picks first and even rounds the last person picks first, like the following pick order  12345 54321 12345 54321 12...

Beyond that, Shorty will let everyone else do their thing.  He would only be picking armor and weapons for Stormhold.  He can pick however many rounds there are when everyone else is done.  Sadly the figuring is also evil.

OOC - Shorty has a circlet that Trysk and Morteft would kill for. I guess that's why Shorty doesn't wear the crown that can summon the Fire Elemental.

Also, why is the Scarab of Insanity considered cursed?

Relax everyone.  Shorty tried to do what he did the last time.  Once there is little that he wants personally, he lets everyone else get things that they need.  Then he picks for Arcturus and specifically Stormhold.  The Spider cloak was my oops for not reading it earlier.  That one fell into the toy catefory.  The rest is just eqiping folk at Stormhold.  The Pots...  Shorty thought he could duplicate them.  But that is okay too.  He can make some with the beaker and he has the treasure find and an xHeal of his own.  Its mostly about playing with toys.  This will happen again.  Shorty will not push for something unless it is a fun toy.  Hawk Helm would have been but did not fit over circlet.  After that...  no big deal.

Just to clean things up:
- Should we just put the potions from the Giants/Dwarves adventure in the Community Chest?
- Should we give Shorty the human +3 plate mail for Arcturus? I think Morteft took some pretty nice armor for Calator already.

Using this thread to post something totally outside the games.  The subject is personal treasures vice game treasure.

I find that I have 40 plus years of painted game figures sitting in my basement that I can no longer see well enough to even recognize that they are.  The local game stores won't help me resell them.  Can't see them well enough to do any kind of ebay sales.  Too much work to see hundereds of DnD and Warhapper pieces.  Tried giveing some of it away to grandkids....  But even the Mage Knight castle did not go over the way I had hoped.  Any ideas?  Not really looking to make a lot of money off it.  Just hate to take years of work and throw it in the trash.

Yes, the 25mm for man size scale, yes that is fine.  I have ettins, umber hulks, efreets etc that are bigger but to scale; so that should work.  My son has access to a 3-d printer so he has made a few things for me - more of the stuff they usually they tended not to make like devils and demons, some of the giant classes.

I am not really interested in any over the oversized pieces - such as a dwarf as big of bigger than a human figurine.

So how do you want to work this?

So I opened a random bin yesterday and sorted out the DnD figures from the warhammer ones.  Two small boxes with a giant and I cannot remember what.  A plastic bin with a variety of monster type figures.  And a shoebox that I believe had all of the figures that I used with the castle that used to be set up in my basement.  Those are mostly tissue wrapped.  Hopefully the glue that held them to their bases is still good as they have been in that bos since 2003.  THe box went in the mail this morning.  It was over 15 for slow boat and only a dollar more for priority.  So you should see the box by the end of the week.  If you like them and want more, I will take the time to sort through the rest of the bins.  The storage room is not as well organized as it used to be.  My wife moves things as the mood suits her so I will have to find all by bins and go through them.

Wow.  They got there already....  The pieces were all sold in blister packs for DnD and other gantasy games.  I took what I thought I could use or that might be fun to paint.   do not remember a dog headed dragon like thing.  Especially not black.  Some of those figures go back to the early 1980s.  I gad one dog like creature that was pretty ugly.  I had a druid I played back then that had a really ugly looking dog that he named Beauty.  Something I weaved into one of my stories.  I am guess that is the one.

How were the figures in the shooebox?  I did not want to take the time to unwrap and inspect them all as I really cannot see the details anymore.  Once we get through Easter weekend, I will go down iwth my wife and see what we can find.

Do you do any army type battles?  I have a number of multi piece orc setups that I used to use for large battle campains.  Might be 3 or four pieces on a single base.

In reply to Morteft (msg # 226):

Cloak of Displacement: This item appears to be a normal cloak, but when it is worn by a character its magical properties distort and warp light waves. This displacement of light waves causes the wearer to appear to be from 1’ to 2’ from his or her actual position. Any attack by missile or melee strike which is aimed at the wearer will automatically miss the first time*. Thereafter the cloak affords +2 protection, i.e. 2 classes better on armor class, as well as +2 on saving throw dice versus attack forms directed at the wearer (such as spells,
gaze weapon attacks, spitting and breath attacks, etc. which are aimed at the wearer of the cloak of displacement). Note that 75% of all cloaks of displacement are sized for humans or elves (persons 5’ to 6’ or so tall), and but 25% are sized for persons of about 4’ height (dwarves, gnomes, halflings). * This can apply to first attacks from multiple opponents only if the second and successive attackers were unable to observe the initial displacement miss.

from shade: Single Sheet of Parchment
pirates: a small crystal eye

Are those magical?

The flayer also had these:

a pouch (Not magic) containing Non magic - did it contain anything we care about?
a sheet of folded parchment

I thought the rectangular prism was the key to unlock the manacles.

The small crystal eye is the artifact we shut inside the heavily warded box.

Ez'ard is up and then Tzar.

Sheet is here although it follows what is posted too:
https://docs.google.com/spread...J9c/edit#gid=5065862

And then the order reverses, i.e.

Tzar
Ez'ard
Trysk
Morteft
Warwick

So Tzar should pick twice and then back to Ez'ard.

In reply to Morteft (msg # 241):

Ez’ard having returned from visiting Stronghold and Shorty walks into the area where the others have been going over the adventure’s spoils. He waves hello and as he ponders what he would like, he starts regaling everyone of Shorty’s exploits and the saving of lots of people to start rebuilding the world of Arcturus. It seems Shorty spent ALL is stash to include his “marbles” to buy the slave and set them free. Some wanted to return to their homes but a lot decided to stay and help build stronghold town. And he ends with, “And he saved a young blind girl who can see auras. She thinks he has the brightest and whitest aura she has ever seen.” He chuckles, and says jokingly, “good thing see can’t actually see him.”

Along the tale he selects the Dagger+4 and sheath saying it will be nice not having to constantly go fetch a thrown dagger for once. He thanks whoever cleaned the sheath of its poison.

He sits down and examines the dagger, looking at ways the secure the sheath to a leg.

In reply to Morteft (msg # 231):

Neither sheet of parchment is magical.  No one has tried to read them so they are just there.

To save time....

The parchment from the shade is a contract for the killing of a dark elf currently intruding in the ethereal plain.  The offered reward is that the elf may be fully drained as can his companion, a human.  In addition, Shodow will deliver 20 dark ones to be drained of strength at the Shade's request.

The second is a contract for the death of a dark elf and his lackey human.  Both brains may be devoured and additionally, Shadow will deliver a human mage of level 14 to the flayer to do with as it wishes.
