Re: Delith: Return to the Unknown
In reply to Shorty (msg # 575):
Dualis continues his story "As I mentioned this next part goes back in time, long before that spell was cast that changed the timeline. It really begins right after the group I was with destroyed Eosense. You have heard some of the stories and may know some names, Finella, Hon, Elsura and there is Aztar of course and others. Hon and Elsura were good friends, Finella and I fought like cats and dogs. Ah, fun times." he has a far away smile and then his face goes dark "Eosense's curse changed all that. I was the only one to survive the final battle and thru various means I was able to recover everyone; however I had lost everything that was not with me. I had a large castle on the Elemental Plane of Fire, full of treasures and knowledge and allies of all sorts. Eosense's curse destroyed it all. I was pretty bitter and determined to regain what I had lost and so I left the group and pursued my own path. I met others along the way but I really just used them to achieve my goal. Eventually I wanted one thing that I had a long time before Eosense. Taken from me by another lich, Gargaragoth. And so I need to go back a little further. Prior to the timeline change he was a great enemy, of all of Delith. Many many years ago we did battle and he stole from me one of my favored possessions." He pulls out his short sword and it flames when he does so, "Inchian." he pats his long sword. "The time had now come to retrieve Inchian. Well, I investigated and found that Gargaragoth had given my sword to none other than Astun Ulderan, Master of the assassins guild known as the Gauntlet. Orkex and Art did a little scouting for me while I prepared. Once ready, I layed siege to the Gauntlet."
He pauses a abit and goes on.
"I went thru the various Gauntlet holdings like a tornado, destruction was my plan, leaving little in my wake till I finally got to Astun. Seeing the end in sight I probably let my guard down a little. He had a plan, a trap, that with which he hoped to get me. I chased him to a room where he stopped and sprung his trap. It was a Mirror of Opposition and what stood before me was my greatest foe. Me. It was a copy of me in every way except for philosophy in which he was the exact opposite. Astun ordered the copy of me to attack and we went at it for a few rounds but neither of us could get the upper hand because we knew exactly how the other fought. I even tried to be a little unconventional but it did not help much. Finally I appealed to his, well, my ego really. I asked him to think about why in the world would he follow someone who is inferior to himself, why take orders from such as he when you could do so much more." Dualis shrugs "Well it worked, he agreed with me and teleported away; which left Astun alone. Which lead to another small chase where I eventually cornered him in an Anti-magic room, the one you are going on about Trysk. That is where I dispatched him and reclaimed Inchian. At that point I began to feel better and I eventually re-joined the original group, well there were a few changes. Met Shorty along the way. I have to admit I was not very kind to the big lug." he bows his head to Shorty "Of course that has little to do with the story. Before I move on, a little refreshment." A glass with clear liquid floats to Dualis hand and he takes a long drink. He then sighs and see if anyone has comment.
