Looking For Talent

Working with Roenna is rather more fun although it does affect your hunting... Traps however are effective.
You also do better at finding various plants and things working together than either of you had alone.
Tabitha is a little miffed and apparently has a talk with her daughter one evening ... you hear about it the following day.
Tabitha wants some attention too and if she doesn't suit you, neither will her daughter.
You are discussing this when Becka shows up... smiling, she apologizes for butting in, but couldn't help but over hearing the issue.

Roenna is obviously bothered by your familiarity with Becka; expect to explain later.
Becka however is quite intrigued by Roenna and asks who her family is.
Once that is established, she seems even more interested and ask Roenna if she will do some things for her.
You Immediately know that Becka is checking her for the gift and you know when she shows it.
Roenna is not at all pleased that Becka plans to stay the night, until Becka suggests she stay the night too, and she can sleep with you so she knows there is no hanky-panky going on. Roenna, handed the hot potato, mutters something about her Mother killing her if she did.
Becka smiles and replies that she won't at all, but that Roenna is going to have to understand the teachings of the Goddess, she suggest that all of you have supper here this night, Tabitha included.  Becka is willing to cook whatever you have.

Mossy is happy to have Becka cooking, and takes Roenna aside while she does so to explain the how he met Becka, as well as going into some details of their relationship. He will not hide anything, and will be as honest as possible.

So you slept with her?  So what is your relationship? It sounds like Dad's where he had women come in from other places and always obliged them and Mother when they weren't around, Is that what would happen to me? Mom is going to insist you do her every so often. This is crazy and unlike any other relationship in this town. Still, ... well let me think some.

"Well, if your mum is allowed, then my teacher, actually possibly our teacher, perhaps should be to. I am open to discus details..."

OOC: The whole parent daughter thing is awkward from my perspective, the pen relationships also but less so, but if it is part of the plot then I am happy to have him play along.

Roenna is obviously unsure and unwilling to commit to anything.

Becca manages to get you aside for a few moments and asks your feeling about all of this. She listens and nods I don't want you to put Tabitha out and make her angry, but You have every right to be true to your wife ... I assume that is your plan? To make Roenna your wife?  She has the talent, and I can help her develop it, the two of you would be a big blessing to this community.  Let me see if I can find a good way to redirect Tabitha's urges. I have some ideas. Tabitha will lose her interest in sex and retire early tonight. Tomorrow I'll take her off looking for herbs and things. Becca smiles.

In reply to Becka (msg # 90):

"Yes. That is my plan, and the idea sounds very good. I also do not want to get involved between mother and daughter, because if things go badly, they will both blame me and that will prevent me from being in a position to help fix the problem. Thank you for resolving that. Perhaps her urges can help be directed to the merchant to protect the other widow? But I will leave you handle that."

No, I think the merchant should take his urges home.  I have some ideas to explore.

Over the course of the afternoon and evening, Becka talks with Roenna and her mother separately. Dinner is calm and when you go to your bedroom Roenna blushes and joins you. Her mom smiles and stays out of it, and Becka just nods to you.

She wants to be held, and kept warm, the idea of sex is too scary, particularly with her Mom there.
She'll let you feel around and will do the same, ask lots of questions etc., but she is unfamiliar with sex of any sort.

That is OK. Mossy will take things slow, caressing her gently, teasing her in some ways but not advancing any further than she is comfortable with. He is trying the get her to want it, rather than forcing on her something she is not familiar with.

It's a good plan and seems to pay some small dividends ... she wants to be close all day he next day as you look for plants, work in the garden and set some traps while checking others.  The traps provide a nice surplus of catch, so you have meat to sell.

Becka has gone back home but left you a short note; She thinks Tabitha is handled for the short term and she will work a longer term solution.  There will be a coven meeting at the full moon in about a weeks time at her cabin, be there.

You also need to create your Athame, either from purchased items or hand made from scratch (do you work metals?) .

He really does not have any metalworking skills. What is an Athame? Also, can he take Roenna to the coven meeting?

With Roenna, he will be as close to her as he can be, and continue to teach her as well as work with her, to see what she is capable of.

Roenna is expected to come to the Coven meet.

She appreciates your patience and your teachings , you may pick 2 level 0 spells and teach them. I'll roll for her success at them.

The witch will also have a book to begin her own Book of Shadows, and a non-magical, non-consecrated athame, a blunt, ceremonial dagger which serves as a focus  for witches, (much like a wand or staff, but never wver used as a weapon or reach extender). These may be adjusted according to the witch’s tradition or coven.

More detailed explanation: Athamé
The Athamé (pronounced ah-thah-may) is a magical knife that is commonly used in witchcraft. It is never used for cutting or combat purposes, or for any purposes outside the coven or spell- work. The Athamé is used in ritual to direct energy and is an instrument of power and manipulation. The blade is often dull and double-edged and the handle is black or some other dark color to absorb power. They are very fine quality and normally have to be specially made. Normal or magical knives, daggers or swords created for combat cannot be used.
Each witch will have her own Athamé for ceremonial purposes. The knife will have the witch’s personal symbol of power and that of the coven somewhere on the handle.
A witch becomes very connected to her Athamé. Since Athamés are used in all of the witch’s mundane and magical rituals, it begins to absorb a bit of magical energy. The witch can always locate her Athamé as if it had a permanent Locate Object spell cast on it. A witch without her Athamé may not be able to cast some spells. Of course, the witch may not want to cast any spells without her Athamé. Also due to its magical focusing power, the Athamé cannot rust and makes saves as if it were a +1 dagger of fine quality.
The Athamé is the tool of the East and is associated with the element of Air. In some traditions it is the tool of Fire. The Athamé is also phallic in nature and is therefore a masculine tool and linked to the God.
Some witches have taken to using a Boline, or a white knife for practical purposes. It is sharp and is used as a normal knife or dagger. It is also used in rituals, but it is keep separate from the Athamé. Losing one’s Boline is an inconvenience, but not worrisome to the witch.

Mend is the only 0 level spell I know, so I will teach her that, and start working towards a 1 level spell of her choice...

I guess if all witches got an Athame when starting, I would use that...

That and a spell book are normal, IIRC Becka gave you a book to record your spells and taught you a form of glyphs to use to record them.

The Athame always has a dark wood or bone handle, The Boline or "white knife" has a light or white wood/bone handle.
Becka would have an Athame, but you need to have one made or get the parts and make it yourself.  The more you do, the more it is "Yours".
A bought blade will become yours over time as you use it, but if you build it, make the handle, polish the blade, it becomes yours faster.
In time, it adds to your magical abilities.  Roenna will need one too and a book. These are things you don't share.

Then we can work together to built ours...together, but individually. Kind of like 2 kids doing a class assignment while the teacher is watching!

What skills?

Carpentry for the Handle (or sculpting?)
Smith for the blade? But without the tools?? Or can we make a stone blade? (Sculpting again!)

You could make a stone blade, but it would be fragile. The local smith can provide two blade blanks  for $35 each or say 6 or 7 rabbits over the next few months (say one a week).

Wood is readily available, but a correct wood not so much, still the amount needed for knife handles is what is often seen as discard, so  you should be able to acquire that.  Give me a roll for each of you to see what you can find. You both will also need to work on the blades to shape them and mark them.  Mend would allow you to put wood chips back together for the handle and leather could be bound around the wood as a grip.

Not to be mean, but this has become a piece of string for me to push ...  wulfe won't do a witch and has asked me to keep theTravesty & Response game background alive. ... so I did that ... now he wants to keep wulfe and I said no... so it too may not come to pass, but you are welcome to join if you'd like... i kept a spot for you, if you want.

We can retry witches in a bit if you are still interested and start with Moshennik as a developed Character.

That is confusing, as Moshe is a magic user already. No mages...what type of person? Leader? Thief? Cleric?

Check that, I just read the thread. Clearly not someone who can create food...nor someone so charismatic.
