They will take a little while to get to know you... you may need to Help a few people before they realize you can help. Probably best you assist with gardens growing at first. Watch for the Priest; I think he only comes once or twice a month, but he is an unknown factor in this village.
As for your night time issues, we'll visit a couple times a month at first, but I suspect there will be one or two girls around, just be careful as they can cause issues if someone things it's his girl/daughter or whatever.

He will start off as a hunter, providing food and skins, and will of course share with those more remote, making sure to befriend not just the girls, but the parents as well. He will bless gardens under a pretense of looking for pests or something similar. Generally he will stay out of town.

Town is really just a gathering of homes with a single merchant who provides a store, ale house and common meeting area.
There are 24 houses here, many small, although each has a garden plot of about an acre/0.40 hectares.

The merchant is the accepted village headman.
There are 6 young women between 15 and 20, but only 3 boys in that age group, not counting you.
There is also one widow of 24 with 2 small children who struggles to survive. Actually a fairly comely woman at that, but dirt poor.

Mossy will get to know everyone well enough to gauge what they thought about the witch in whose cabin he now lives, the preist and generally the families, particularly the families of the girls. He will also find out a bit more about the widow. And of course he will hunt a particularly pests such as rabbits that raid gardens and foxes that raid chickens or livestock.

He will make a point of getting to know the merchant too.

All that will take time.
Getting rid of pesky rabbits is popular, particularly with those you leave them with.
Fox pelts can be valuable, and saving chickens is also a good thing.

The merchant is glad for you to bring him herbs and such to sell, as well as pelts That the widow can tan for him for food or whatever.  He pays her fairly, but not at all generously.  The woman's husband had been a forester until a tree they were cutting fell all wrong. It was quick for him, but she and her kids suffer now because money is hard to come by and she has to work very hard to make it. The town pities her, but doesn't do anything to assist her.

The girls all talk with you, and so do their Fathers, who order you away, as you have not shown a trade.

The priest is not overly friendly, although he welcomes you and asks what you do... He also watches who puts how much in the alms plate very carefully and treats the generous with a more effusive manner. He has no time for the Widow who can't afford to provide alms.
How much, if anything do you contribute?

Since I can provide food for myself, I put in a quarter of what I get from selling skins. I will also tell folk I am a hunter by trade, and set up a small farm as well using a few vegetables and herbs, as well as fruit trees. I will help the widow do likewise.

The Hunter story seems to be accepted ... two fox pelts net you 16 copper ($16) ...so 4 in the offering plate is well received, few other's put more because few can afford to. Your best guess is the Priest leaves with about $31.

The Widow is quite thankful for your help, but also very careful and reserved; you have been here long enough to know the married Merchant has been hitting on her pretty hard and the Priest wanted to stay in her cabin while he was here, but she refused. The Town has noticed but is a little divided, the women very irritated and many of the older men shrugging and saying it's how it is, some woman will die in childbirth and her husband will marry her most likely, so he has someone to cook, clean raise the kids and keep his bed warm.

Hunting is OK and you bring in quite a few rabbits, some grouse and portions of a recently dead deer "You found".

Becka swings through to check on you, she is not pleased about how the widow is being treated and suggests maybe you can influence things.  She also ruins your sleep for much of the night she spends with you ... seems like you were her only release for sometime.

Mossy enjoys the loss of sleep, and agrees the the widow needs to be treated better, but asks how this can be done without it appearing to come from me. He does not want to be seen as playing for her...

Perhaps the merchant is Rich enough to afford 2 wives. How would that be seen here?

It's a 'Roman Catholic' world around here. Two wives would be  a heresy / a major sin etc.

Becka agrees that you probably shouldn't get too involved with this woman, but that you use your talents to get the woman to come to her aid. But if she needs close friend and finds you acceptable, go for it, so long as she knows you will not be a marriageable lay.

Mossy will basically do that...help her, and assist in helping other women befriend her, though he is not sure how exactly to do that. Probably by following the advice of the woman and also by talking with the rest of the townfolk to find ways the women can do things together.

You need to talk to the young women and their mothers or older sisters, the local market that meets every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday is a good time, and you can sell game then too.

Well you don't really have any people skills, but you can try and work with the older women.
The younger women will likely cause trouble as folks will assume you have other interests

Any attempt to use people skills is at -5.

You quickly get a reputation as socially clumsy but well intentioned. The older women put up with you and make some small efforts to help the woman. It doesn't change things very much, but Kadulf the Merchant starts to feel a tiny bit of the displeasure. His response is to move the widow to a place where she is less visible, but more accessible.

Ummm, we miss communicate, Kadulf has her mostly out of sight and is pressing her, and freely putting his hands where she doesn't want them.  She has to suffer this to feed her children.

The older women laugh at your awkwardness, the younger girls go hot and cold, depending on whose around and who is trying to influence who.
The older women are more interesting in many ways, but all are spoken for.

One of the wood cutters manages to run a knife through his right hand between the Metacarpals for the middle and ring fingers. It's actually a fairly clean cut, although bloody and with several of his buddies offering all sorts of advice, some good, some bad as he staggers into the village. You are there and close by.

Oh, in that case Mossy will try to get as many of the other women to visit the widow as she can, as well as the more honourable men of the town. Does the merchant have a daughter?

When the injured man comes into town, mossy will prepare a bandage, saying that this method helped him when an animal attacked him. He will apply the bandage at the same time as casting a healing spell, hiding the healing spell with the first aid everyone is familiar with.

OK, Need a roll for the 1st aid and for the spell ...

Kadulf does not seem to have any children, his wife is in her late twenties you'd guess and is certainly attractive; Kadulf is a few years older.
His wife knows he is pestering this woman and is trying to interrupt as often as she can, which is causing Kadulf to order her to stay away.  Male dominated society here, so his wife is out on the thin ice.

A few women try to help, but no men get involved.

Rolled one under first aid, and 13 (IQ) for the spell, which I am guessing is a fail. If not detected, could he try again?

This sounds like a job for the priest to deal with, not for the new Hunter kid. Does Mossy get a chance to privately voice his concern? Perhaps under the guise of confession?

No, The 13 succeeds, JUST! .. so which spell was it? Clean or Heal?

The priest hears your concern and suggests it is not your place to confess Kadulf's flaws.
You later learn that one of the other women had to "rescue" the widow from the priests clutches, as he had his hand in the front of her bodice and was holding her hands as he did it. The Priest was furious at the women butting into her confession. The woman had heard the widow's cries and appeals for him to stop.

The spell would have been'Heal'.

With regard to the woman, Mossy would respond to feeling helpless but wanting to protect the widows, like scripture said they should.

Who are the men of the community that actually have a sense of Justice?  If the preist is not willing to help, perhaps let that be well known. If, on the other hand, he can be convinced to be a good guy, all the better.

The priest is a self serving jerk
Kadulf is just a fairly decent guy with a failing, in that he thinks he has this widow in a spot where she can't say no.

There is a very strong inclination to not get involved, especially as it may look like they too are trying to take advantage of her.
Thus the women are a bit more able to work on her behalf.

The day after you bandage the wound, the man is back, it is red and tender, quite swollen and it is hot to the touch.

The Merchant wants in her panties (or whatever she is wearing) ... You are not going to talk to him, as he is your elder and a successful member of the community.

You spell works very well and is unnoticed, as the fellow isn't the brightest light and is in a LOT of discomfort. The various leaves and the salve you use are assumed to be the reason for the improvement.  Becka will counsel you on her next visit to clean the wound before healing it. She has a male visitor it seems and you go without, as she doesn't spend the night.
