Roahfustion chips in with, "Lord Hadrian, not knowing the size of the problem, specifically how many birds, if they're birds, and their actual size and capabilities, it may not be plausible to solve the thing immediately but we shall make our best endeavours and bring you proof of what we achieve. I feel certain that your payment will be proportionate. Nonetheless, perhaps one of your advisors might be kind enough to assist us with a map and directions, perhaps a local contact, for the area afflicted by these birds." She pauses to assess whether he's losing interest.

If not, the bard continues, "And on a further note, should you at some time in the future wish the situation of coins actually reaching your wall-soldiers, on otherwise, perhaps we could be of some assistance, should you wish it so." She bows, and then faces Lady hadrian to whome she curtsies. "Lady Hadrian."

That should be no issue, I'll send a Ranger to guide you. I would be most interested in what you find. As for the soldiers, we will handle thatwhile you take care of this other threat, thanks for the tip though, I'll add to your take based on what we find out.

"Thank you, Lord Hadrian," Roahfustion replies.

She looks at Blythe and Troels. "Unless there's anything else, it's time for us to depart."

Troels is a bit uncomfortable no numbers were actually agreed upon, but with uncertainty as to what they were dealing with, he could say no more, so he remains quiet.

En route, Roahfustion shows a casual interest in the page and asks about his circumstances, and any news or happenings about the town.

Back at the inn she asks the innkeeeper if he's heard anything about huge birds and then goes to clean up prior to the promised performance. While doing so, she sets aside one third of the money from Lord Hadrian to cover their forthcoming expenses in the days ahead. Returning to the inn's common room, Roahfustion performs a shortened set on stage. Heartened by the way she's holding up, the bard gives an extensive series oof encores before calling time..

Then it's off to their room, bed, enagage with her companions, and sleep.

Somewhere in the proceedings Roahfustion slips some silver coins to her companions.

Troels goes back with them to the inn, acting as security for Roahfustion. When she gives him a few coins, he smiles broadly, and looks after her for the rest of the night.

Come next morning, he eats well and prepares for the trip, loading the mule and meeting with the Ranger at the gate at the appointed time.

The Page provides little of interest. The Inn Keeper shrugs as he has heard nothing. But offers to keep their things, that they may not wish to carry, safe. He makes it quite clear that he would like them to come back and do mor performances.

Blythe brings her horse and everything she owns. Never know when you may need to change plans.

She thanks the innkeeper and confirms that she plans to return. If he'd keep an ear open for the whereabouts of Rufus it would be appreciated.

Troels considers the possibility of putting his stuff on Blythes horse and leaving the mule behind, availing it to the innkeeper to use, though perhaps with a crude contract to ensure he can collect it when he returns.

The innkeeper will agree of course, although he doesn't expect to hear a thing...

He'll suggest that Troels should take his mule, as the inn doesn't wish to be resonsible.

The evening nets $64 The Inn Keeper asks to keep $24 and you can keep $40

I will assume it has been a long day so there isn't a lot of activity before sleep becomes imperative.

Come morning the ranger is esy to find, sticking out like a sore thumb in his large dark cloak.
You quickly get arranged, and after ensuring you have adequate food and water for both man and beast, he leads you out.

As they leave town Roahfustion tries to leave by way of a market to buy a light buckler for herself and four crossbow bolts for Troels and some sling ammo for Blythe.

After the brief shopping the bard tries to engage the ranger in light conversation, his name, as to where he's from and any news or rumours about the town or surrounding areas. otherwise she seeks to priactise langauge and teach singing..

The scout says to call him Syl, he is not talkative and doesn't answer most qestions.
Once you get away from civilization around midday he tells you to stop all the noise, as you are awakening the dead. Shortly there after you start up the hills on a reasonably well traveled trail.
About an hour in on that trail, the reason becomes clear as a rough looking man appears with a train of 5 donkeys loaded with fire wood. Hee and the rangr exchange what sounds like grunts and both keep moving.

Troels acknowledges Syls suggestion and goes into stealth mode, asking the Ranger of what he knew regarding the dangers they were facing. Silence is good, but foreknowledge is arguably better.

He has is crossbow ready and is otherwise very quiet.

Syl says stealth isn't required yet, but quiet is...  He has no clue what you will find, he was just told to take you up to where you could finish the climb and resolve whatever issues you find. You can return as we have climbed when done. He has another mission to accomplish after getting you up aove the treeline and in sight of the top.

Never one to waste time, as they walk Roahfustion practises getting her newly acquired buckler out and equipped, then putting it away.
She repeets this an annoying number of times, slowly at first then getting a little faster.
