Re: OOC

I was admittedly vague, the shooting things was just an example.  Kyle's more intending just for someone sneaky to peek through the windows without being noticed to have a better heads up on what's waiting for us inside, instead of walking face first into it like usual.

Re: OOC

fixed post. And while the wording may have been vague-ISH, I think it's more because I read the ooc commentary that followed what Kyle said and my brain thought he actually said "lets circle around and shoot at things"

Re: OOC

Quest For Glory 1-5 bundle (includes both versions of 1) is on half off sale for Five Dollars at GOG.com

GOG makes games playable + includes the manuals and images of the various bits (such as the Maps of Shapier, and the Correspondence course guides).  Though I'm sure Tim has the old games workable through some means or the other by now.

Just a reminder, since the company is in some ass end nook of Europe, USA credit cards are often blocked (my Paypal based on my card was a workaround, until it wasn't.  I've since arranged for the company to be allowed by my card).

Sweet!  Thanks!

Oh right, GOG is DRM free.  Just make one account for you and Tim to share.

EDIT: Also got Kyle's initiative up on the Map.  Oh wow, 8.

Tim: enjoying quest for glory 1.  went with original rather than vga remake.
Me: glad it's workin out.  I really need to get around to the fan remake of 2 sometime
Tim: ...Fan remake?

Oh my God.  I know I told you guys about this, but it was well over a year ago.  VGA styled remake of Trial By Fire, character import functional apparently.  Not 100% same as original, there's a Pizza Elemental sideboss and the Cheat Codes just set all your stats to 1 if it isn't New Game Plus, etc.

That was Chris you were talking with, btw. I only took over briefly to say hi. Though as I remember it, when you told me about the fanmade remake of QFG2, it was still being made and wasn't ready to be played yet (otherwise, I'd have installed it and played it back then). Now that it is, though.... :9

TY for the link!

Re: OOC

Question for SoW group:
The next module, Fist of Mourning, is an optional side-quest designed for helping lvl 10 PC groups that didn't quite make it to lvl 11.  It doesn't really tie into the main arc in any way I can tell and is entirely skippable.  Do we want to work through this module and skip any XP so we don't out-level the rest of the rest of the adventure series?  Do we want to skip it entirely?  Do we want to go through some of the encounters and not others?  Be warned, it involves Slaads...  Nasty demon frogs that implant eggs in you that if you fail two DC 20 endurance checks...  your character dies.

Chaos Phage
Level 16 Disease

Initial Effect: A slaad
embryo is implanted in
the target.

Endurance improve DC 25,
The target
is cured.

maintain DC 20,
No change.

worsen DC 19 or lower

The target takes a –2 penalty to
Will. While bloodied, the target
succumbs to madness and attacks
the nearest creature.

Endurance improve DC 25,
The target
returns to the initial effect.

maintain DC 20,
No change.

worsen DC 19 or lower:

The target dies, and a slaad tadpole
burrows out of its skull (see MM 237).

Jake will have to roll 19 or better to not die of this thing.  I can DM handwave successes or we can spend uglies like candy at the end of the adventure to remove the disease.  Or we can take our chances and use resurrection rituals if PCs die.  I'm inclined to give it a shot and just skip over the boring looking encounters just to test drive our new paragon paths, but it's up to you guys.

Re: OOC

Reminder of 4th Editions Cure Disease methods.  You add the Level of the disease to the Heal check (no take tens), to this results list here.

0 or lower: Death.
1–9: Damage equal to the target’s maximum hit points
10–19:  Damage equal to one-half of the target’s maximum hit points
20–29:  Damage equal to one-quarter of the target’s maximum hit points
30 or higher:  No damage

However, for a level 10 party vs a level 16 disease, that's STILL better odds than making your Extended Rest checks to survive.  17-25 for the patient to get their ass handed to them with 3/4 the patient's max HP in damage, but cured.  Vs "Please roll 25 or more to improve at all".

At least, you can't be infected by the same thing more than once.  And in 4th ed, getting infected by a Monster Attack is one Save Throw roll at the END of an encounter instead older "you'll probably get mummy rot every single time the mummy attacks you".

Another silver lining for Cure Disease.  It's a Lv 6 ritual that only takes Ten Minutes (disenchant magic item takes like, an hour), and the Component cost is 180 GP.  It does not scale with needs or level like a lot of rituals.

Also, the Remove Curse equivalent ritual works same as cure disease for if that comes up.

EDIT: Reminder, I'm 90% sure the Cure Disease results take effect before Extended Rest gives you any hitpoints back.

Fortunately, Sladd disease progression has enough leeway that you can sleep and fail once without dying, but have full HP so survive the next day's ritual unless you get DEATH.

You guys can afford raise dead rituals right?

Turns out the module's claims about level projections were misleading.  So I'll be squeezing in the Slaad adventure so we stay on track XP wise.  Fun times.

Re: OOC

It's been almost a week and things STILL are not done, ugh.  I'm borrowing ancient computer that wants to kill itself attempting to use multiple browser tabs, let alone use Roll20 well >.>

Flooring is ALMOST finished (down but not fully sealed at some edges), MOST of the wall repairs are done (but at least fumigation and sealing of the Ants most favorite holes are dealt with). Tomorrow I'll be grabbing gloves, cheap dust mask, and buying fresh saftey goggles to assault ancient, Pink, lead based paint with a wire brush to get rid of the loose bits.

No clue when I'll have my computer and casual net usage back up, let alone staying up considering things have gone on this long.

Though I'll be attempting to catch up with various posts tonight at least.

Re: OOC

Pink lead paint chips bouncing off the side of my head is worse than it sounds, honest.  Though your Glasses fogging up at the same time as full size safety goggles fogging up is as bad as it sounds.

Progress though.  Have my computer stuff set up at the moment, which I'll have to disconnect and move to safety again anyways for further wall work tomorrow/tues.  But if things progress at the speed they are supposed to, me and my brother can get to putting everything back, setting up the new futon cushion and it's coverings, and my new fancy desk chair put in place instead of this folding one.

It's apparently a month until the (thank god half off) new recliner is available.  I still need to get my brother to arrange it to be DELIVERED instead of us trying to cram a full size, back does not detach, in box, recliner into a vehicle, bring it into the house and maneuver it down narrow hall bits ourselves.

Which he has assumed will 'probably' fit because he didn't take any measurements.  But then, 350 for a good new recliner is a price you do admittedly need to grab then and there.

Re: OOC

Progress?:  Oh cool, aside from a spare outlet a family friend is setting up, we can start putting everything... back...

Oh, right.  The guy we hired on a flat rate still hasn't finished caulking the gaps between the new floor tile in this room and the hallway.  Only 1.2 Walls are done, and tiny ants are enjoying one of the open far corners left open.

His excuse was that he ran out of caulk... several days ago (he had bought two whole tiny tubes for what's basically 1/2 this floor's worth of wall).

He's a nice guy, but he's kind of terrible about getting any length of work done on a day, if he even shows up.  If he was being paid by the hour he was actually at our house, we'd have to murder him because 4/5 of when he's at the house he's not doing anything, before he leaves early.

At least the corner I set up shop in is dealt with, which is good because I got a new desk ordered.  The good news, nice desk.  The obvious bad news, oh god home assembly required.

EDIT:  To make matters more facepalm, the new bulk floor tiles (simply put down over the old, not actually cleaned up at all because we can feel the broken bits of old one under it) thing was supposed to be a simple side project for bad weather days, when he couldn't strip the old lead paint from our house and repaint it.

He's done basically nothing there either so far.  Bluuuh.  There's only so much sympathy "His wife got caught out making up things and trying to get her kids to lie about him hitting her in divorce court" can carry a guy already paid to do a job and taking it to mean sit around doing nothing for 3/4 the time he's actually at the house.  Besides which, the half assed pace means he's getting less work to be paid for over the span of the month.

You never know the things that come from internet research. In this case, researching lagomorphs so I can know more about what I can do with the moogle race:

Re: OOC

All but completely decided on the name "Atlas Gunfist" for my moogle. Seems moogles don't get surnames, so his surname would be something he's kind of earned. He might have other nicknames he goes by, like the moogles might call him "Atlas Leopardskin" since he's had that spotty fur pattern from birth.

I think one of my goals, besides questing for bullets for my Magun, will be to earn a Space Mutiny style list of nicknames. XD

Re: OOC

  <First World Problems>

Many years ago, I forget if it was either for my Birthday or Christmas, I asked for a Megazord 'the one that combines from the five robots'.  I was told that I got a megazord, and it turned out to just be an 8 inch tall megazord that was one single item.

Thursday, while I was browsing Toys R Us near where Mom's pool rehab is, I saw the 20th Anniversary Legacy Megazord.  Which was all five robots that combined and everything (also there, a cool lego robot).  I called my brother for some price checking.  "Hey, they have 20th anniversary megazord.  Yes it is the five smaller robots that combine into the big robot, if even does that tank thing."

Brother goes "Oh sure, that's cheaper on amazon. I'll order it and the legos for you."  They came today, but since today was insane I didn't open the box till right now.

It is an 8 inch tall single item made of die cast metal and plastic.  It's a lot nicer than the one I got ages back (because it is an expensive poseable), but still no proper megazord.

So I'm just ordering the damn thing from Toy's R Us (its $83 one left in stock, through $120 plus on amazon) for the price I saw it at the store, plus shipping, and probably taking even longer to get here than next Thursday when I'd be next to the actual store, but due to how life works would be guaranteed to no longer have it.

If you want a Megazord done right, place the order yourself I guess?

Re: OOC

One in stock and costs more, so no amazon order anyways.  Granted, even then it turned out Toys R Us .com while only costing as much as in the physical store, would end up more expensive because of Sales Tax (on the internet) and shipping charges.

So I finally managed to be able to just drive down to the place today and grab the thing.
