Re: OOC

Regarding the posted in IC thread hook dump.  Pretty sure we would have remembered running into a Pirate Drow.

Would definitely have taken up the job if it had been offered and we were not constantly busy with "Oh wait, people in mortal peril that we haven't met" almost every single second.  Antiques dealer/collector of less than reputable race trying to make a (mostly) honest living?  A certain Sorcerer has parents like that.

Some EXP filler would be good if we need it, and we probably will.  At the very least the "Level 1-30" Scales Of War keeps mentioning GMs will most likely need to come up with sidequests to keep people properly alongside that campagin's level progression.

I wouldn't be adverse to waiting on doing this after the keep deal, but it sounds like it is a case of "Oh hey, sidequest for extra experience if you pick up an item in the dungeon you are already going to for main quest" so waiting until later would be counter productive.

Re: OOC

I think he meant waiting until we get back to Winterhaven to be fully awarded the XP that Bairwin Wildarson will give us for having delivered that box to the drow.

Yes, we would do the "may as well since we're here" drow quest.

Far as the Winterhaven? The only thing returning to Winterhaven will do is us reporting to Bairwin Wildarson that we did as he asked. Roleplay-wise, the experience of doing the task of delivering the dagger is already done. All that's left is a "Good job!" from Bairwin Wildarson. So sure... I'd say you could hand-wave it if you wanna.

Re: OOC

Seth has a spare beta key (I checked, I don't) for Path Of Exile, the Closed Beta.  It is a diablo style game with a Oh My God What huge passive skills tree.

Open beta is on January 23rd, where they will reset everyone anyways.  But Seth wanted to know if you two were interested in taking a look sooner rather than later.  Part of why he's been hazy to ask is he's only got the one key and there are two of you.

Seth mentions that at the very least close beta players get to keep the names, even if the characters are reset back to zero.  I ended up defaulting to Skateboard as the name of my duelist.  Would you believe Pogostick was taken?

Re: OOC

The consideration is much appreciated, but if I'm honest I'll admit that the chances of my having even 3 hours worth of time to spend on playing a closed beta between now and Jan 23 are very small.  If anyone should test play it between Tim and I it should be Tim.  But I think the chances of even HIM having 3 hours worth of time between now and Jan 23 are pretty small too.  First there's RL chores, then his gaming priorities likely put Camps higher than updating all the various tabletop characters he needs to work on, which is higher than working on his comic, etc. etc.  By the time it filters down to even WoW (Which he's paying for), I think he's played it maybe once or twice in the past 2 months.  I told him to cancel the sub, and he was 1 day too late.  But I'll let him speak for himself.  The game looks pretty neat...  even if it is Diablo top-down view.  Which I don't much care for.

Re: OOC

From the Eratta file...

Falling Prone: If a creature falls prone while it is
flying, it falls. This means a flying creature falls when
it becomes unconscious or suffers any other effect
that knocks it prone. The creature isn’t actually prone
until it lands and takes falling damage.

a creature is flying when it starts a high-altitude
fall, it has one chance to halt the fall by making
a DC 30 Athletics check as an immediate reaction,
with a bonus to the check equal to the creature’s fly
speed. On a success, the creature falls 100 feet and
then stops falling. On a failure, the creature falls as
normal.

✦ High-Altitude Falls: Some encounters take place
very high above the ground. In such an encounter,
it is possible for a creature to spend more than one
round falling to the ground. As a rule of thumb, a
creature falls up to 500 feet during its first turn of
falling. If it is still falling at the start of its turn, it can
take actions on that turn as normal, then falls up
to 500 feet at the end of the turn. If none of those
actions expressly halts a fall, the creature falls up to
500 feet at the end of the turn. This sequence continues
until the creature lands.

Prone
Page 277: Replace the bullet point that reads “You’re
lying on the ground. (If you’re flying, you safely
descend a distance equal to your fly speed. If you
don’t reach the ground, you fall.)” with the following
bullet point.

Restrained

Unlike the 'once per serving' Paint jobs, at least the Cockpit novelty items you keep forever and can swap around your various robots instead of buying multiples.

Re: OOC

There's been talk between Tim and I of giving up on Vulpus.  I take it a step further and say stuff like, "I'd just as soon leave both those boards completely."

And Tim answered with, "Yeah.  Join one and they're like, REBOOT!  Only... not.  Now it's just a chore to have to clear the red numbers after getting my hopes up that there's any RP that has anything to do with me."

Me: "Yeah it's nifty that one of our ponies runs those places, but even she had to admit the players post way too fast to keep up with."

Tim: "I haven't any clue what's going on in either board."

Me: "And it would take a colossal amount of time to get caught up."

And once caught up we'll wind up left in the dust again over 1 weekend.  So...  Leaving the Vulpus scene is a given.  But IS it worth the effort to catch up / keep up with the speedy Giant Comics folks in your opinion?  Or... is it not worth the effort?

Re: OOC

I have no idea what Vuplus is.  But I do have one friendly reminder when it comes to clearing Red Numbers.

The "Mark All As Read" button on the upper right corner of the game's threads listing.  (Just remember you have to hit Game Menu on the lower right, or close and reopen the tab after.  Or it will KEEP clearing out the red numbers whenever you refresh it).

Giant comics wise, that depends on if you are interested with playing with the rest of them, or only into it because "Will is in that Game".  New Beginnings is in a rough spot for reentry, literally everyone is cramming themselves into Doctor Dodd's house (after months in a tunnel with 'what's posting?' psyhic and NPCs, I'm FINALLY involved with things, and the Narcoleptic Psychic has a normal post rate again).  So New Beginnings wise if you want to get back into it, ask in the OOC for insight there.

Weston, you could look into the "Weston DPA building" thread, where the terrorist with hostages situation is going on and they already had one long time absent just walk on with no issues.

My character is involved elsewhere in the "City morgue" thread, just about to move on to the "Dark Carre's Lair", but then "Follow the reainmated corpses seeking out their stolen souls" is kind of freaking obvious.  Soul stealing jerkfaces involved there and Matt is in a van full of Knight templars while Ozzy and Clarrisa fly above tracking their awkward friendly zombies.

Selfish admission:  after this long to get involved on the inner plots train, I will tell an entire orphanage Santa Isn't Real (even though he is) to stay that way.  Matt on Weston's already occasionally beating himself up over the fact while a Boss Fight was happening and he could have prevented (player willingness aside, I think it was pre-arranged dramatic death) somebody's death, he was off in a police station talking about his own.  New Beginnings, I've already mentioned the facepalm it's taken to finally get involved with main plot.

So yeah, I have to admit that when it comes to Giant Comics, staying on Track is a bigger priority than hanging with Tim/Chris alts (even if both could happen at some point).  Crazy I know, but better to admit it than otherwise.

Re: OOC

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm gunna just let Tim decide what he wants to do and I'll follow suit.

Everything's all set up for Salow's alt-swap.  If he wants, the man leading his parents can be his new alt.  We can RP it out or I could just fast forward to make things easier...   I don't feel comfortable RPing Rolen's parents.  They're Salow's creation, so I don't expect to do them any justice.  And Byron's made forever leery about RPing an NPC mentioned in a player's background.

That is, in fact, the pointless chore Chris speaks of. Since, you know, the red number have nothing to do with us and they become red often. :p

I understand. Admittedly, the point was less about "Yay! Joe is going there!" and more about "Neat! Superhero place I don't have to run and loads of other new players are on." Although your very being there makes the place cooler (and adds validity; "Joe approved!").

I also understand you'd rather have a place that keeps going. I'm grateful you continue to RP with us in all the slower places, given that 2-3 posts a day is entirely too slow for at least 5 of my friends (Kalinka, Raikoo, Kelevor, Rick/Zero, Byron). I'd rather not be the reason to hold you up if possible.

For what it's worth, while I enjoy the places where it's just me, Joe and Chris (Hi, City of Heroes!), I think it's more fun when one or two more are involved (Hi, Mutations!). Which is part of the reason I'm still magnetized to the Giant Comics threads. But the challenge is finding a place to start and be able to keep RPing from there.

....at least it isn't City of Forbidden Desires (Anitaverse - Las Vegas), where you finally find some people to RP with, start getting into a good RP scene, and then GM announces "alright everyone! It's now 4 hours later! Move out of your scenes and into a new one!" ... >.> Sometimes, I'm tempted to one day go "My character sat there for 4 hours staring blankly, then continued the conversation where it left off."

ANYway... point is Maverick is too spyish for a place where it's hard enough to get involved. I keep thinking "If only I was playing Emerald, who's power IS communicating, I would get more RP", so I think I'mma app for her or something. Maybe "run" Maverick in the background as someone who just spies on people. Send PMs to the GMs that he's spying on X or Y. Who knows. Anyway...

So what IS the story with Weston and New Beginnings? One of the reasons I hesitate playing Emmy in NB is because they made it a point to say superpowers are hush-hush there. So I *thought* unless I give Emmy the ability to shapeshift, she'd be in serious trouble. Then they turn around and have the police act like Mittens being a cat is an every day occurrence. XD Meanwhile, Weston gave the impression they were retiring that place. Do you have any clue what's what for those two so I can figure out which, if either, I can go have fun at?

Re: OOC

Chars that would work for Kingmaker, ranked on a scale of 1 to 5.  1= I'd like to see you play something else.  5=I think we'd both enjoy this char.

Alexis 1 (playing in rick's game)
Angel Bard 2 (playing in thunderspire)
Antoinette 5 (only sorta playing in vegas, and heart oint.)
Arowyn uh... 1? (remind me again who this char is?)
Bethany 5 (not playing anywhere at all and is interesting char.)
Bridget 4 (not playing anywhere, but I can see her having issues with the team.)
Butterfly 3 (not playing anywhere, but was never that excited about the char.)
Callie 1 (playing on thunderspire)
Carla 1 (playing on ascention)
Chant 1 (meh)
Dauros 1 (meh)
Dido 1 (playing on thunderspire)
Enna 1 (meh)
Flora 1 (meh)
Holymoley 2 (I'd looove to have him around.  But I think Byron's eyes would explode from rolling at all the puns)
Honey 1 (meh)
Jengus 1 (Way too awesome for Jinxy.  Would make him look bad.)
Liberty (Grown up) 2 (Too much rage.)
Lumin (Grown up) 3 (not sure how well this'd work.)
Mara-Kai 1 (playing on wrath)
Maverick 1 (playing on ascention)
May 1 (playing in Olympus)
Meriele 2 (was a cool char, but... meh)
Mialee 1 (meh)
Miranda Murdock (Grown up) 4 (this could be interesting)
Morthos 1 (meh)
Opal 3 (i love pixies.)
Paela 1 (very unfond of gender ambiguous chars.  and assasins.)
Quelenna 1 (playing on wrath)
Raichel 5...billion (can't get enough of this char)
Special mention to Reverie (do not play this char.  Too hard to rhyme on the fly.)
Shadowsong 4 (lolz.  just... lolz)
Shardon 1 (meh.  Also, no evil chars allowed.)
Shelly 4 (heart)
Shina (Grown-up) 3 (cute and all, but never really grew on me terribly much)
Skylar 1 (meh)
Sora 1 (meh)
T'shock 4 (not playing anywhere else)

Re: OOC

Chris' male characters concerning the Expanse Campaign, ranked in the same way my characters were for King Maker. Note: I'm also listing characters that may or may not be yours.

Before the list, though, let's look at who's in the party:
Anastrianna: Striker (Warlock)
Emerald: Leader (Bard - Multiclass tons of stuff)
Mikal: Defender (Fighter - Multiclass Wizard)
Mittens: Striker (Pyromancer Wizard)
Raichel: Striker (Monk/Sorcerer hybrid)

We have plenty of strikers. But it's almost impossible for our team to get hurt anymore. Emmy isn't really needed. What the team could use is, ironically, another striker to make fights go even faster. But as mentioned, our team is unstoppable. So pick whatever you want.

Bruno 2 (Interesting guy, but kinda basic and didn't have much to him. Granted, you only RPed him briefly)
Captain Harrowleaf 1 (I *think* this is a module character, but you went to the effort of adding him to the cast roster in MitsDungeon, and RPed him going through a dungeon with us)
Grall 4 (You mentioned playing an orc. This guy from Unity was memorable. Little did you or he know, Grall managed to squeeze a tiny crush from Bridget.)
Icarus 4 (Would add something interesting to have a fairy in the group. He could replace Ryujin's role as paladin, or go pure fighter. W/E. But he's definitely a cute addition.)
Jack 3 (As much as I love Jack and enjoy his antics, you *are* already playing him in Pathfinder, and he's a bard... having two bards in the party would be meh).
Jake 5 (I like Jake, and he'd love our group for all being practically peers for how smart most of us are (Only Raichel has a low-ISH int score), though he'd have to be an adult or our group would just escort him home and bind him to his parents with astral diamond shackles.)
Joey 5 (I love Joey. I think Mikal would love him too. He would easily fill the paladin shoes Ryujin left behind.)
Justice 3 (Technically my character, but mostly you RPed him. Usually as Lib's adopted bro or such.)
Lucky 4 (Ironically, it's been a while since you played Lucky in a campaign. Last time you tried, he got eaten by a bunch of dire rats alongside Mittens, Raichel and Timothius. >.> He'd fit well, save for being a second healer where we don't need one. I love Lucky a lot, but between redundancy in healing and yet another cat person in the group, I'm unsure if he's the best fit for that campaign specifically)
Marsh Laval 1 (I think he was a cool NPC, but wouldn't work for adventuring)
Mortin 3 (Grall's rival was a cool guy. I figure if you play Grall, I'll play Mortin as an NPC who shows up from time to time. And if you play Mortin, I'll have Grall pop up once in a while to try to show you up. However, I don't know how well he'd fit with our group. He might see us and facepalm... "Why? Why do the most respectable heroes who just saved the WORLD have to be a bunch of lax, silly jokers?")
Philip 3 (I may have made the original concept for this character, but you've turned him into your own for sure. Would be good for keeping you awake on nights when you're tired. However, you've mentioned you actually don't enjoy playing Phil, despite the fact everyone who's RPed with him (and isn't a douche canoe *cough*Jamie&JackSprat*cough*) has loved him.)
Pyrannosaurus 3 (He would need an alignment upgrade if he hoped to survive the beatings from our team's square chins. Maybe. >.> Ryujin got away with a lot of jerkly things. I don't know how much fun you'd have with him. And I don't know how much he'd feel like Pyrannosaurus if you changed his alignment to good. Plus, don't forget Mittens already has a dragon named Pyrus.)
Randal 2 (Beastmaster ranger... hmmm... anyways, I don't remember if this guy was yours, was from a module, or was one of Dre's many attempts to RP with us that didn't happen)

...that appears to be it. Hope this helps.

Tim's caught a pretty severe head cold.  We had to end Saturday's game early because he was feeling so lousy.  And he's been in bed since 8 last night.  I'm hoping he'll be well enough for Sunday's game, but it's looking unlikely.  And even then it might be wiser to keep those germs away from your family just to be safe.  We'll keep you posted on his condition, but if you don't hear from us, assume he hasn't improved.
