Re: Heroes Guild Log 19

"Considering out task, I feel we should allow Antoinette to decide if we remain for now or return home at the first opportunity.  Though if there were any overt risk to staying, then it would fall within said task to leave as soon as possible instead."  Short version, Go with Antoinette's ideas unless they are clearly bad ideas.

The servant says, "The king's answer is that he will not ally himself with Grayhawk."

Antoinette says, "Our job is done. We should go home."

"Let's get back to town, th... wait, isn't that what I just said?"

"Right.  Our thanks for the king's hospitality.  Let's not forget the prisoners on our way out."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 19

Terdisas nods in thanks to the messenger,  "Thank you for informing us, it will save all involved some time."  Of course, not as much time as if they dealt with attempted murderers for them.  Politeness of holding doors open for girls gives way to heading out first (if Lucky does not), because having someone you are supposed to guard enter places first is just kinda duuuuuur.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 19

Antoinette heads out with the group. Fast forwarding a bit, the prisoners are indeed given over freely for Grayhawk to deal with them. The road home begins and Antoinette only answers when addressed. Unless Ter/Mitts have anything important to RP on the trip home, the group makes it home safely.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 19

Mits mainly just muses out loud whether the villains will be executed by hanging or beheading... or both!

"Use a spiked chain as the noose!  That'd be awesome!"

"Let's talk about more pleasant things, please," Lucky requests.

Beyond banter like that, nothing worth slowing down scene change for.

"Chirp, Spiked chain would only tear their throats.  You'd need enchanted garrote wire and a high drop at lest, tweet."  My, how helpful of Superbird

Terdisas ignores this and asks of Antoinette "Do you feel this was a trip well spent Antoinette?  I suspect you may have, but it would be more certain to hear it from yourself."

Antoinette answers Terdisas, "Yes. The king would have gone to war if he was not given that message."

The prisoners don't even feel it's worth it to talk anymore. Besides, they would wind up with mouths stuffed by socks anyway.

Once the group arrives in Grayhawk, Bridget is there to greet them. She looks at the prisoners, then to the heroes. "What are these men guilty of?"

"Ambushing Antionette and the rest of us with intent to kill," Mittens answers, "They'll readily admit to it.  At least, they readily admitted to us their intentions and reasons.  Curious what story they'll tell now that execution's on the menu.  But probably best to remove the socks after they're in separate rooms so you can catch them in inconsistent lies."

Lucky nods.  "On the bright side, this apparently didn't hinder the ambassador's mission at all.  The king didn't mention the blood stained holes in her gown."

(( Assuming such wasn't dealt with.  If it was, just ignore that last sentence. ))

Bridget says, "I'll take them from here."

Antoinette says, "They believed me a villain. That is why they will confess. Their intentions were good. They have served good, saved lives and been heroes. They will continue to serve the common good if they live."

Bridget says, "Anyone else wish to add anything?"

Re: Heroes Guild Log 19

"I disagree with the lady," Mittens says, "I think they're far from being heroes.  They're villains through and through.  Even worse than the evil god cult they're so quick to accuse Antionette of associating with.  Because not only are the evil god cult members NOT running around killing ambassadors willy-nilly, they also don't masquerade as heroes and give real heroes a bad rep by doing so.

"I think hanging and beheading too good for 'em.  They should be tied to a post so all the real heroes can throw rotten tomatoes at them!  Then they should be planted neck deep in the ground and mocked with taunts like, 'Look!  Your face is red and your in the ground and your surrounded by tomatoes, so obviously you're a tomato!'  Then we should bring in some fertilizer..."

"Thanks, Terdisas," Lucky interrupts, "As for the ambushers...  Maybe I'm a little calloused about murderous ambushes, but I don't feel that strongly about their attack.  I trust Antionette.  She's a prophetess.  If she says they'll do good in the future and not evil, I believe her.  I'm glad I'm not the one who'll be passing judgment on them either way."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 19

"Somehow Mittens, I expect their fate is out of our hands regardless of what we wish upon them at this point."  Yes, handing criminals over to the authorities then asking the authorities to do what you want instead seems counter productive, when you had many hours before the authorities got involved.

Bridget looks around. Then nods. "Thank you for escorting Antoinette. Sorry for your troubles. I'll take the prisoners. Good day." and heads off with said prisoners.

Antoinette is staring into nothing. Hi, Hoal!

"Yeah," Mittens answers, "But she asked if there was anything I would like to add, and I did.  She sure is spaced out a lot."

"Let's get her back to the church," Lucky suggests.

What is the sound of One Hoal Not Actually There Waving?

Terdisas nods, and will inquire into his payment when not surrounded by an impressionable crowd.  "Taking her home does seem to be the sensible thing to do, hopefully there is someone to greet her return."  In the looking forward to it sense, as opposed to the dreading it sense anyway,.

Antoinette is returned to the church. The annoyed priest dude is there. "Lemme guess. King didn't make friends with Grayhawk."

Antoinette says, "He did not make friends."

The priest says, "Well... not for lack of trying, I guess."

Terdisas nods,  "While I am far from an political expert, the fact they put so much stock in the darker religious establishments as opposed to ones such as your own is somewhat telling of their reluctance.  As for the 'loot', if not delivered to the guild then it will involve a very long and very boring wait in line.  And forms."

Mits snatches her gold.

"Another successful mission!  Well... I'm off to look for more adventure and/or hang out with my sibs!  Take care you two!"

Lucky takes his own payment and waves goodbye to Mittens.

"Thanks for your help.  Take care."

He glances at Antionette.

"I'm guessing she doesn't get paid for this trip specifically, does she?"

"Thank you sir."  Coins get!  He turns to Lucky and says, "The task given and paid for was as escorts for Antoinette Lucky.  Before whether or not the church pays her comes into question, is the fact she did not escort herself.  Although on that note, do keep at least myself in mind if Antoinette is in need of further aid."

The priest says, "Your friend put it correctly. She doesn't get paid for escort service. She gets payed differently for the task she performed."

Antoinette doesn't seem to mind. Then again, that's because she's spaced out. She looks at Lucky and smiles.

That done, Terdisas follows along with Lucky unless something comes up.
