Arrrrr!

In the late 16th century, English ships cruised in the Caribbean and off the coast of Spain, trying to intercept treasure fleets from the Spanish Main.  Angel Bard, in spite of being a woman, a colored woman no less, somehow managed to get her hands on a letter of marque from the English crown.  Did she disguise the fact that she's a woman?  Or is she open about it?

In any case, she and her crew are legally sanctioned to pillage Spanish ships.  Who are busy looting the South American indians of their gold.  Who were a bunch of blood-thirsty zombie worshipers.  (True story)  So... history doesn't have any real good guys in it.  At least... not on a national level.

Re: Arrrrr!

Angel wasn't open about it at first, but eventually came out to the open. And due to being officially sanctioned now, it isn't just HER law demanding the support of her crew, it's the crown as well.

Angel has quite the resume, unknown though it may be. So she has taken to this job like a fish in water. She goes to meet her crew to prepare to set sail...

Re: Arrrrr!

Lucky isn't a kitty cat.  Nope, he's a freed slave.  Freed by Angel maybe.  In any case, turns out he's got a talent for shooting things from a safe distance.  A lot of that sentiment going around lately, it seems.

He stands at attention when Angel addresses the crew.

Re: Arrrrr!

Ah, the Privateer business.  Good ol legalized and specific pirating.  Joe's got that less than great job skill (in the personal hassle sense) of patching up holes in ships and hoping you manage it before the thing sinks.  He's oddly not so great with a rifle, but fairly handy at landing cannonballs where he wants them to go and 'pointy end of knife goes here.

Re: Arrrrr!

Angel goes to the wheel and says, "Alright, crew. Shall we be off? We can take care of introductions on the way."

"How's that for a rousing speech?" Lucky chuckles, "Aye aye, Captain!"

He helps with the hoisting of the mainstay or some such.

Re: Arrrrr!

"Yes Captain, Shipping off the ship."   He turns to Lucky, "Well, beats the 'your lives belong to me out here' speech my last gig had.  We're still not sure how he got eaten by a shark while still inside his room."

Re: Arrrrr!

Angel overhears the conversations as she steers the ship. Then raises an eyebrow. "Either very bad luck or an act of God." she comments. "Take your pick. But hey... far as your lives belonging to me? Well let's face it, my life belongs just as much to you. Folks! We are all we will have while out there. Most any other ship we come across, if any, will be enemies. We will be as close as it gets to having a family in the following months."

Re: Arrrrr!

Lucky stifles a laugh at Joe's comment.

"Awesome."

To Angel he replies, "Nice!  I'm honored to be a part of your family, mam!"

"Well, while I don't exactly have a poor family life, hopefully this will involve less sneaking up behind me with a blunt objects accompanied by screams of 'surprise sucker!' passed off as reaction training."

Re: Arrrrr!

Angel says, "How about this?" she tosses a sack at Joe. "Think fast!" Once it's caught, Angel explains, "Get that to the cook. Tell him it's a gift from the captain."

"I knew someone had to bring up the 'family isn't always a good thing,' argument," Lucky sighs.

Joe makes the catch, Yaaaay!... And no he doesn't spike the 'ball'.  "Moments of annoyance is not the same as 'terrible thing forever'.  Though I suppose dealing with extremes is the simplest way to think about it."  That said, he goes forth to give cook ze bag.

Re: Arrrrr!

When Joe gives the bag to the cook, the cook thanks him, checks the bag and gets excited. "Tell her I am very grateful!" and such. Angel walks among her crew to get to know them each, eventually coming up to Lucky and Joe.
