Pokémon continued

(We can continue on the whole "Lucky the persian" and "Liberty the psychic" or go with a new thing, whatever. But this scene setting won't change the old nor will it be incompatible with anything new.)

Maverick is not intentionally sneaking, but then as we know, he almost hovers even when he rolls a crit fail in DnD. But this is Pokémon, so no dice. The mechanics are programmed in! ....or it's just a cartoon. Right. Anyway, Maverick is walking along, wearing a cape and such. He has pokéballs strapped to his belt.

The town? Vermilian City (Where the S.S. Anne docks). So the smell of saltwater is in the air. It is just past noon.

Re: Pokémon continued

Today finds Lucky the black Pursian lounging behind what appears to be a lemonade stand at first glance.  Second glance might reveal the sign that says, "Pokemon Translator.  10 cents a minute."

Re: Pokémon continued

Raikoo would've really liked some lemonade too.  Ah well.  The day finds Raikoo of the self-proclaimed Team Vulpix, in park near by where Lucky's stand is, playing with all six of his vulpixes.

Re: Pokémon continued

If it's Pokemon, then all you need to do is not walk directly in front of someone for them not to notice you (and demand your battle critters fight their battle critters).  Joe doesn't exactly scream trainer material with the lack of Pokeballs harnessed grenade style.  The Pidgey who hangs out with him flutters to a stop on top of Lucky's booth sign, while Joe examines said sign. looking for an asterisk.  "So, no disclaimers like 'No guarantee you will like what you hear' or anything Lucky?"

He glances over to Raikoo and his Vulpix situation, thinking that is the most tails he's ever seen in one spot.

Re: Pokémon continued

The many vulpixes is eye-catching to be sure. Maverick sees the persian, the fact the talking man knows him (by the name Lucky), and the fact that man has no Pokéballs. He also spots Raikoo as a result of following Joe's gaze. But as mentioned, Mav wasn't sneaking on purpose. Actually, he's out in the open and begins walking to the most interesting of the bunch: The black persian. Sure, the persian is offering translations for money, but he's also black. So either he's a shiny, or he's from that island where Mav heard Pokémon wind up different colors due to eating the fruit there.

He pulls out a dime and begins having it crawl around between his fingers as he ponders using the persian's rare services.

Re: Pokémon continued

Lucky lazily paws at his own belt of pokeballs to bring it into view for Joe.  "Nah," he answers, "I've thought about putting it there but figure I'd get waaay less business that way.  So I got myself some muscle to defend myself with if someone wants to get violent about what they hear.  How you doin?"

He gazes over at the boy, slowly swishing his tail.  Cute vulpix team has been his main diversion up till now, but the kid has coin.

Re: Pokémon continued

Taking on the world with a team of just vulpixes is srs business don't you know.  Koo chuckles and looks up from the foxes he's tickling to see people arrproaching the black persian.  He hmms softly and decides to venture on over to see what the hub-bub is about, the six firefoxes pouncing and bounding about his feet all happily.  "Hello."

Re: Pokémon continued

Joe shrugs, "Doin good, relaxing day so far.  Figured I'd see how you were holdin up."   Considering Joe sorta kinda 'owns' Lucky in the sorta kinda sense the do the Pidgey Superbird.  Mostly for 'stop hassling them, he's with me' purposes.

At the quiet kid right next to him, he moves aside for actual paying customers, then looks over to the talking other arrival and says "Hello there... I assume lots of practice helps telling your foxy pack apart."

Re: Pokémon continued

Maverick eyes the vulpixes briefly before nodding at Raikoo in response to the hello. Then flips the dime and pulls out a pokéball. Out comes a rattata. This rattata is black with purple rune-like markings on it's hide. The rattata looks up at Maverick, then to Lucky. Maverick flings the dime to the pay bucket. The rattata says, <I'm Rune. This is Maverick. He's very good at understanding Pokéspeech, but not as good as you or other Pokémon might be. So I guess he wants to hear a literal translation for a change.>

Maverick sits in front of the persian and waits patiently.
