Nature

The setting: The world of Ohn. This world has a giant ring around it that has land bridges that lead between the ring and the world. Imagine the Halo world, but as one of a world's rings. This world also has pathways made of energy that lead to various other locations in the world. Today, we start the story in a city that has been built inside a forest, buildings built around the trees and other trees having been re-planted on and in buildings. Most buildings are made of stone while others are made of cloth that has been magically enchanted to stay standing.

Bud and Lumin, the plant twins, are known as children of nature. Born of the will of nature itself and entrusted with protecting the forest. Unlike other settings, the twins are actually able to be apart and so today, Bud is on one side of the city while Lumin is on the other side. Doesn't stop their mysterious bond, though, as both bend down to sniff flowers at the exact same time, nobody by maybe scryers knowing any better.

Re: Nature

Joe has always wondered at the efficiency of 'enchant cloth for building materials' over 'use more rocks'.  But then, he's a stock character archtype 'Human Ranger' with A side in thievery absolutely no multiclassing whatsoever.  So cost to benefits ratios for magical construction is a touch out of his area of expertise.

One coinflip later, it is determined that Joe is on the Bud side of the City.  'That is the shortest wildling I have ever seen, maybe one got together with a halfling?'  Yes, we are continuing the slight running gag of my characters assuming Tim's custom shortys are half halfling (Quarterling?)

Re: Nature

Bud tail-wags as he enjoys the aroma before noticing Joe and waving with a bright smile. "Hello, citizen! How can I help you? Need an escort?" he asks with excitement in his voice.

Re: Nature

Joe kerblinks, considering this.  "Well, I hadn't really had a place in mind to go at the moment.  But I guess a points of interest reference could be nice?"  Okay, his brain is mixing signals here.
Section A) of brain associates referring to people as 'citizen' with 'surprisingly dangerous, hair trigger, terminator like city guard'.
Section B) of brain meanwhile associates Bud's enthusiasm with the existence of optimism that has not been crushed under the steamroller of reality yet.
  A and B don't normally go together.

Re: Nature

Bud considers some options and says, "Well I could take you to the center of town. My sis and I have been watching the two ends of the city for a while now and it's about time we patrol the city and meet up at the center, so... how about that?"

Meanwhile, Bud's brain is working much differently. "This flower smells like my sister's hair. My sister is pretty. This guy seems nice. He doesn't know where he's going? He should meet my sis! I wonder if he likes chocolate..." and other simple thoughts.

Re: Nature

"That works, thanks.  Normally the more interesting landmarks tend to be in the centre."  Unless it is a cliff or mountain based city, then they tend to be in the back.

"Anyways, I'm Joe.  Nice to meet you."  Introducing yourself first?  You are failing at mysterious wanderer cliches Joe.

Re: Nature

Bud ohs and says, "My name's Bud! And my sister's name is Lumin. Nice t' meetchya!" he gives a fist-to-chest salute. Standard greeting for the people in this city. He begins leading the way and asks, "So ARE you a citizen of this city? Or just a passer through?"

Re: Nature

"Just passing through at the moment."  So much easier do deal with not being familiar with the area that way... At least OOCly.  "There aren't any obscure for elsewhere but second nature to everyone who lives here laws I should be aware of are there?"

Damnit Wesley, you tripped on someone's garden.  Didn't you know they put you to death for everything here!?... Oh, wait, we sent our crew on shore leave without knowing that either... Starfleet is terrible at this.

Re: Nature

Bud blinkblinks. "If there were, how would I know if I take them for granted?" he looks around, then back to Joe. "Well there is ONE rule around here I can think of off the top of my mind that you might not be familiar with: Don't take anything unless you payed for it. So don't pluck a flower, for instance."

Re: Nature

Joe really hopes that isn't taken to extremes such as 'hey! did you pay for all that air you were breathing!?'.  "Still good to know at least.  You wouldn't happen to know the going rate for wild flowers offhand would you?"

We're sorry Ma'am, we had to take your child in.  Yes, we know they were picking flowers for your birthday, that's why we took them in.

Re: Nature

Bud says, "They aren't for sale." he rubs behind his head. "Some jerk found a loophole in the rules once that technically allowed him to take my sister as his property just because she counts as a flower. So... yeah. That's how it is until they can fix the rules to be better."

It's Lucky!  He spots Lumin, smiles, and waves.  He's wearing commoner's garb.

Re: Nature

Joe considers this revelation.  "Well, first, that guy is a dick.  Second, unless there was some kind of blanket sales price that means no florists shop could do business on all flowers, wouldn't your sister have a say in the sale or not?  Or can you just throw enough money at something and go 'mine now! Bye!'"  He looks over tot he waving Kitty, and half waves back.

"So, someone you know, or just friendly like you seem to be?"

Re: Nature

Bud answers Joe, "You asked about wild flowers, not tamed ones. Flourists still sell flowers. But I am not a lawyer or an expert in that field. Couldn't tell ya the details, just that Lumin got in trouble, I had to beat the bad man to a bloody pulp, and they had to change the rules so people can't buy wild flowers."

Considering Lucky was waving at Lumin and not Bud, that puts the group suddenly at the center of the city since Joe was able to see Lucky. Warp time!

Lumin waves back to Lucky and has a very happy smile. Bud spots what Joe is pointing out and says, "Dunno the kitty. But that flower is my sister!"

In their carebear fashion, the twins run to each other, hug, spin each other around (Bud spins Lumin around, they nuzzle, then Lumin spins Bud around), giggle and kiss. Then turn to the others.

...  Joe's players face, Meet Mr. Desk! *thud*  Clearly the quick travel was powered by time traveling embarrassment.

"Nice to meet you Lucky, though considering how they seem and I've never heard of them before, I can only wonder how elaborate the description was if it properly got across how adorable they are."

The twins look over at the two and blush from Lucky's and Joe's compliments, each sliding a foot. Then they perk up, and in unison say, "Let's go to the pool together! It's fun to splash in the water!"

"A relaxing time at the pool sounds much better than a vague 'nothing in mind'."  He looks over to Lucky and says, "I'm Joe, and admittedly I tend to pay more attention to rumors of horrible dangers to avoid more than 'hey there are these awesome people you should totally see'.  Which as you can imagine cuts down on recreational sight seeing."

We can see it now, a your guide describing things you will be going nowhere near.

Re: Nature

The twins hug each other excitedly and then rush off to lead the way. Soon, the group is at the enchanted pool, which seems to dimly glow. But it's more an optical illusion from the ambiance and such. There are glowy plants in the area and the water is crystal clear. There are water creatures swimming in the same pool, such as manta rays, a few otters, and some fish.

Bud and Lumin hop right in!

Re: Nature

Joe was having an amazing lapse of paranoia today as he's not walking through town decked out in leather armor.  Though he still had the bow and cloak and a couple small sharp objects along <.<  (Hey, easier to arrow shop when you got the bow with you).

Boots and cloak and such go off.  It's shirtless O'Clock! (Though not pantsless O'clock).
