For SCIENCE!

Mrs Dawson's 3rd grade class is taking a field trip to the Science Museum. Liberty, being one of the class, is going on this field trip and has gotten permission to take pictures. The class is led inside and soon enough, the tour begins. Everyone is given a red vest to wear over their shirts that has "Science is Fun!" embroidered on the heart-side pocket.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Joe is so short today.  These things happen when you're a 3rd grader.  "So, do we get to keep these vests or do we have to give them back for the next field trip batch to use?"  So, why all the Aqua text Joe's lately instead of the Darkgreen text?  Aqua is easiest to type (constantly typoing it as awua aside).

Re: For SCIENCE!

Liberty and the others all look at the tour guide for the answer. The tour guide says, "These are actually for you to keep." various kids yippy or quietly "YES!" there. "My name is Cave Johnson and I'll be your tour guide today. I actually own this facility, but hey! I can be a tour guide too if I wanna. Besides! Gives me an excuse to hang out with eager young minds like yourselves. Now what's your favorite thing in science?" he has the kids name one-by-one their fave thing and then he points at Liberty who answers, "Ummm... that's a hard question because there's so many neat things in science. Space?"

Cave nods and then looks at Joe, waiting for his answer.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Joe could use the 3rd grader situation as an excuse to default towards 'Dinosaurs', but we're not going with that.  "The insane length and results that can turn up to make dangerous super sciences safe for people.  Like those weird manufactured elements that end up destroying the devices used to create them so hard shrapnel shielding is in place for the lab."  Joe's player can't remember offhand exact examples of these, but he has seen some such things listed in the past.

SCIENCE!  We're going to completely destroy this machine to make voliatile elements!  Safely.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Cave laughs. "My kind of guy! Well I can tell you we have all kinds of exhibits for everything you all mentioned! I asked in case I missed something. At the end of the tour, two of you will be selected for a very special science experiment that requires volunteers..."

Many kids get excited at that. Cave proceeds to begin the tour! Starting with the botany section. Liberty asides to Joe. "Exploding safety? Didn't know there was such a thing."

Re: For SCIENCE!

"NASA straps people to what is basically some of the worlds largest piles of explosives in order to send them screaming into space.  Moon dust is basically crushed sandpapery death that is so fine it will sift through Kevlar.  Safety from the insanely dangerous inherent in the job will end up an interest to you if Space is your favorite thing Liberty." Joe randomly read some of the dangers of moon dust before playing portal 2.  Thank you, Cracked.com.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Liberty scriggly-faces. "...you really think so?"

The science museum is, of course, fun. But to hurry plot along, Cave picks the two volunteers and, surprise, it's Joe and Liberty.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Joe is volunteer!... What did he volunteer for?  How detailed was that permission slip?  Does any of this matter when he'd want to keep an eye on Liberty anyways?

"So, we're going to be dealing with what exactly?  Not to say kids are dumb, but there's only so much a short elementary school kid can pull off."

Re: For SCIENCE!

Cave Johnson says, "Some of my latest. Now put these on." he offers what look like child-sized oversuits that look space suit-ish.

Liberty shrugs and begins putting hers on. Easy enough anyway.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Joe of course, checks to see if the midget astronaut apparel has pockets as he puts the thing on.  He will have mixed feelings if next they are handed rayguns and told to go stop an alien invasion.

Joe is also very glad he's already gone to the restroom recently.

Re: For SCIENCE!

Sure enough, Cave provides the kids with helmets to go with the suits. Then gives them ray guns. Liberty widens her eyes. "...cooool..."

Cave Johnson says, "Now I want you two to fire at those targets!" he points at some targets in the room.

Liberty shoots a laser at the target and it dings! OK, so the laser isn't burny. It's like laser tag. Meanwhile, Cave is putting on a suit himself...

Re: For SCIENCE!

Joe is still not going to point the thing at himself or Liberty anyways, that'd just be rude (unless she had a literal target on her or something).  Hopefully a lack of bullseye but still hitting a target counts well enough.

Just for reference, he checks if there's any other manipulateable bits on the raygun beyond the trigger.  Or if he's got a holster so he doesn't have to carry the thing the whole time.  "My short lifetime of violent videogames has of course, done nothing for my aim.  Way to let me down media scare expectations."

Re: For SCIENCE!

Cave then proceeds to flick a switch and the room no longer has gravity. "Anti-gravity laser tag!" he says, his voice coming over a com in Liberty and Joe's helmets!

Liberty woahs! "DANG this is cool! Since when do field trips involve anti-gravity?!" her voice comes over Joe's com also.
