Heroes Guild Log 24

It's mid day and there are plenty of quests to go around. Timothius is seen exiting the heroes guild, looking ready to take a quest on. But oddly, neither of his sisters are with him.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Terdisas meanwhile, is approaching the guild.  Though circumstances may result in them not bothering to enter.  "Hello Timothius.  Has something urgent come up?"  Hey, it said right in the narration they looked ready to go, so the Sorcerer's generic Insight isn't an issue.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Indeed. You don't need insight to know that when someone is smiling, they are likely happy. Or in this case, someone geared up, exiting the guild and turned towards the exit of town with a look of being lost in thoughts. Although Timothius snapped out of it when Ter talked to him.

Timothius says, "Well... not urgent, but it certainly needs doing. You busy?"

Terdisas says,  "Nothing so urgent that I could not put it aside to help."  "Tweet, free time is of abundance.  He'll live without coffee.  The sorcerer ignores this comment, and asks "What is it that needs to be dealt with?"

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Timothius says, "Well, it's your standard guard duty at a bridge construction. But considering the ambushing types reported to have been encountered by other heroes, they actually asked specifically for the added help of any available adventurer who doesn't have other immediate quests to do. I figured, of all the adventurers with free time, a cleric would actually be quite welcome." he smiles at Terdisas. "And your ability to attack at a distance sure will be handy in keeping the normal guards from sustaining any injury."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

"Hmm, yes.  I'm sure my lack of indiscriminate fireballs would also be of some appeal."  Not that scorching burst or burning hands seem to do much there, but it's the thought that counts.  "I find myself hoping this will turn out to be a waste of time, for the obvious reasons."

Yes, having your job validated by a vicious assault on the area isn't exactly a sane outcome.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Tim nods in agreement as he goes to exit town with Terdisas. "Heh... yeah. Me too." His existence as a cleric is validated by sadface. But then, Timothius is the kind of guy who knew people would suffer whether he adventured or not and whether he became a cleric or not. He just chose to be part of the solution. "So I've been curious... how long have you known about your powers?"

Terdisas follows along, "Oh, only a few years so far.  I left Amn the moment they first became apparent, due to the Cowled Wizard's policies.  Normally the people think along the lines of those who studied the arcane or make otherworldly pacts in secret, as opposed to those born differently.  I suppose that, as well as my avoiding any destructive obvious signs made my departure easier."

"Chirp, he asked how long you shot lightning, not for exposition."

Timothius smiles and nods. "Thanks for the details. I actually was mostly making conversation, though it's a topic I've been curious about. My sister Raichel has known about her powers since birth. In fact, when she was born, she accidentally zapped the doctor and herself. Thankfully, it didn't do any permanent damage and she is resistant to her own powers."

Stock comment about differing length of IC experience resulting in the same OOC experience point level goes here.

"I have not had the nerve to test if the common sorcerous ability to bypass protection against your most innate elements means I would zap myself just as hard."  Really, resistant to lightning+Thunder Sorcerer that also ignores X amount of lightning+thunder resistance.  "Though, my compliments to a doctor professional enough not to drop her in shock at the time."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Fun Fact: Raichel won't ignore resist until Paragon level. So she's good for another 76 or so log entries before she is capable of shocking herself.

Timothius says, "Uh... heh... I didn't say the guy didn't drop her..." he rubs behind his neck. "But Rai's tough, you know... always has been."

Still more fun facts! EVERY adventurer is technically tough by comparison with normal folk.

"I'm imagining her punching him in the shins for that now, chirp."  Yes, most would not take kindly to being dropped 3.5 seconds into their life.  "She seems to have turned out well enough, as have you Timothius."

Timothius bows. "Thank you. Though obviously, what I told you about her being dropped is just between us. Don't need townsfolk teasing her about it."

"Were you dropped on your head when you were a baby or something? Oh! That's right. You WERE!"

The bridge is coming into view, but is still probably a couple minutes more walking.

"It would be in poor taste to bring it up, of course."   "So, not because both his sisters would kick your ass if you did then, tweet?"  "Not every act of courtesy has to be a mere formality, bird."

How many people really mean it when they say 'Have a nice day?' after you buy something?  who cares if they don't?  Broken, twisted people is who.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

It's probably a good thing most people actually DO mean it. As the two approach the bridge, the guards notice. There are four normal, non-adventurer guards there. There is one other adventurer there. A rogue who has rogue painted all over him. No really... the word "rogue" is on his arm pads, one of his boots, his belt, his hat, and one of his shoulder pads.

Guard 1 says, "Oh look... another adventurer. And he brought his pet cat and pet bird. Hope the cat doesn't eat the bird."

Guard 2 says jokingly, "Don't make fun of the kitty. He might use you as his scratching post."

Guard 3 says, "Cut that out, both of you! These men are here to help and are respected heroes of our very home!"

Guard 2 says, "Lighten up."

Guard 1 says, "Making fun of catboy is the only way I *can* lighten up."

Superbird goes all Raveney and staaaaares at guard one, and says "Seven days. Seven daaaaaaays. Chirp."   "...Please stop implying people will die in seven days when you have no prophetic qualifications."  "You're no fun."

Terdisas moves on with his life, and comments "We are indeed here to provide more aid.  Though it is good to see we will not be alone there."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Guard 1 looks at Superbird like he's from Mars. Guard 2 and the rogue laugh from Superbird's antics. Tim giggles some. "Nice, Superbird." he comments.

The rogue says, "May as well introduce ourselves to each other. My name's Rogue." Well that seals it, doesn't it?

Tim says, "I'm Timothius. This is Terdisas and Superbird." While Eli has the vast intellect AND the gives-a-care combined to remember Superbird's actual name, he's likely the only one in many many miles. Which leave Tim as one of the many others who doesn't remember it.

Guard 1 says, "I'm Jeris."
Guard 2 says, "I'm Feris."
Guard 3 says, "I'm Thorton."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

Eli's name remembrance is made all the more impressive by the fact Terdisas's player both can't remember without referencing a text file, and the fact Superbird could have kept going even longer.

"A pleasure to meet you all, I do not suppose there are any known estimates for the bridge's completion?"  Not that Terdisas would be staying the entire time until it was finished, that would be just silly.

Re: Heroes Guild Log 24

The bridge actually looks to be mostly built. Thorton says, "Probably another 2 to 4 days, depending on whether and how much work the builders pull off."

Tim nods. "I take it the builders will be here soon?"

Thorton says, "They're on break, but the city is still worried about sabotage. Even after the bridge is finished, there will always be two guards here."
