Re: Heroes Guild Log 26 (With Dice!)

Seeing the wolves are undead, Emerald says, "Undead. Of course." only to see a gnoll charge out. Emerald yelps and prepares to defend herself, but the gnoll attacks the grave hounds. "Well... I'm not arguing!" She uses that sword of hers, hacking at the grave hound, gashing it well!

 dmg: 16

Re: Heroes Guild Log 26 (With Dice!)

Lucky stands up and blink-blinks in surprise at the arrival of the very tall lady but since she's attacked the zombie dogs and not the fox, he'll hold off making any assumptions for now.

"Thanks for helping, stranger," he says.

He uppercuts one of the hounds with his mace and with a flash of radiance it flies up over the gnoll's head and lands 10' behind her in a heap!  The other yelps in pain from the flash as well, but stays put.

Loik turn undead v gravehound 2, 3

Gravehound2 24-9 =15
Gravehound3 54-18 =36 and Immobilized.

The only gravehound that can attack decides to step away from the nasty cleric and snaps at the gnoll, but misses!  The other just snarls and snaps.

23:02, Today: Narrator rolled 16 using 1d20+7. gravehound 2 v gnara.

Terdisas is beginning to feel positively bald by comparison at this rate, three fur covered people in combat beside (well, in front of) him.  Upshot, him and his outfit will dry out SO much faster.

The sorcerer makes a careful shot between Gnara and the injured Gravehound, striking the farthest back one.  While a bolt from the sky vaporizes the one by Gnara.

"... Chirp, You did that on purpose, right?"  "I have no idea."  "I take back everything I said about you avoiding big boom spells, tweet."

Lightning Strike Vs Gravehound 3:  Hits 20 Reflex (Ally cover? HAH!). 12 Lighning DMG,  Full Arc to Gravehound 2, 8 Lightning DMG.

Gravehound 2: 15-8= 7. Less than Half Kill.
Gravehound 3 HP: 36-12= 24/54

Gnara cackles as she rushes over to the wolf. She reaches for it and its shadow engolfs the wolf, Gnara seeming to vanish from existence while the shadow writhes around, bone-crunching sounds and yelping suddenly turn into silence. Gnara rematerializes and quickly turns to face the others, sword at the ready, but she doesn't charge. "Don't hurt me!" she calls out.

Emerald watches and when Gnara asks to not be hurt, Emerald sheathes her sword. "You helped us... I can only assume you're a friend."

Lucky urks, drops to one knee, and spits up something black.  "Hate zombies," he says, "Everyone ok enough that I can use a heal on...  Oh right.  Emerald's a healer too.  Healing myself, then."

He binds his wound, drinks some water, glows a bit, and stands back up.

"Hi there, tall, dark, and lovely.  My name is Lucky, this is Emerald and Terdisas.  And your name is?"

Re: Heroes Guild Log 26 (With Dice!)

That whole 'Dog and Cat option' shifter situation really takes the edge off of the 'getting along like cats and dogs' stereotype it seems.  "After so many failed attempts to avoid senseless combat, I do not think we shall pass up this chance merely to strike down one who has helped so far."

"Tweet, orc desk clerks and assorted back in town anyways."  Admittedly, there is still the temptation to use race=assumptions when it comes to goblins so far.

Gnara giggles to nothing in particular. "Lovely? Me? *giggle* My name's Gnara. I heard about Greyhawk and how it's become a haven for those who want to live decent even if you're of what's been called "monster races". So I thought I'd come this way and check it out." once again, another giggle.

Emerald rests up also, strumming her lute for a song of rest. As she strums, she smiles and says, "Thanks for the offer, Lucky. Good to see you're alright."

She seems to recover from the necrotic stuff fine enough. "Nice to meetchya, Gnara."

Lucky hooks the loop of his mace onto his armor and steps forward to offer a handshake and a smile.

"Well it's not perfect," Lucky says, "Greyhawk does have some great people.  Looks like it just added one more.  You seem pretty capable in a fight.  If you're interested in a small bounty offered by the city, would you join us in finding out what's causing the disturbance in this area?"

Terdisas nods, "Alas, social enlightenment still comes with a price tag.  Payment for dispatching what you would already is a decent enough head start."

"Chirp, We'd be out of jobs if Bandits turned to adventuring.  Also, I am inedible, just sayin, tweet."  Now, isn't that an amazing thought.  Random encounters living in fear of other random encounters.

Emerald says in response to Superbird, "I'm quite edible. However, I don't appreciate being eaten." She then looks at Gnara. "Superbird is Terdisas' familiar and tends to say odd things. You'll get accustomed to it." She didn't want to say "used to it" because that isn't as accurate as "you will kind of understand what he says more as you get to know him".

Gnara says, "I'll join you. *giggle* Lead the way, my new allies." She gives Superbird a toothy grin. "Not edible? *giggle* Doubt that... even souls can be eaten." that last bit said kinda darkly and accompanied by more giggling. She looks at Lucky. "You're a holy guy, right? You would know all about eating souls more than the rest of us, wouldn't you?" More giggling.

"You can't choke to death on me either, chirp."  Terdisas facepalms, his familiar started this topic.  "Entirely possible regarding souls, yes.  Perhaps one day you may even accomplish such, but for now I am certain that at the very least is something none of us can do, nor should worry about."

All of them probably have the 13 CHA needed to pick up a the Infernal specific 'pick a pact boon' Warlock Multiclass, and then gun for the Life Stealer Paragon Path.  But who would bother with that?

Re: Heroes Guild Log 26 (With Dice!)

Lucky wonders what's with all the laughing.  He hasn't had much experience with Gnolls, so he can't figure if it's common to the race.  He concludes that it's more likely a nervous tic than actually finding humor in a dark topic.

"I'd love to be put out of a job by folks turning away from crime," he says, "I long for the day when I can set aside the armor and weapon.  Raise a family in peace.  But it looks like I'll have to postpone my dreams."

He ties the end of his rope to the legs of two of the dogs.

"To be sure these don't animate again to cause more trouble," he explains, "And to have proof of our good deed here.  Care to handle the others?"

He begins dragging his dead dogs through the mud back to town.

Gnara giggles some more and gets to wolf tying / dragging. "Sure thing, little vixen. Dragging dead things is a lot easier than dragging living things..."

The gnoll assassin follows the others toward town and just seems to giggle at random. Probably confirming what Lucky assumed of it.

"I'll keep that in mind if we have to move a dead elephant, chirp."  "I would question the odds of that ever occurring, but that would only make it all the more likely."

Terdisas helps as much as 8 Str actually can... Which is not much.  "I believe they will appreciate it if we leave this 'proof' outside of town."

Re: Heroes Guild Log 26 (With Dice!)

The group delivers the dead dogs to the Church of Pelor where the priest promises to have them properly disposed of to prevent their being re-zombified in the future.  Of course, Gnara gets many a strange look, but that's apparently the worst of her welcome.  The constable asks that the group return in the morning for their payment since the lockbox key isn't left with him overnight.  Lucky suggests the group find rooms at the Inn now famous as the Heroe's Guild.

Terdisas can't let every lady who fights alongside him once crash at his place, but he also isn't inclined to leave Lucky and Emerald alone either, so the stay at the Inn is looking like the better option (sort of.  Always feels silly paying Inn bills when you have a house).

"I believe I once heard a drunk going on about how delayed pay is a conspiracy created by Innkeepers.  Of course, he was not particularly believable."

The group is allowed to spend the night in the dorm for a very affordable price.

"As late as it is, it doesn't allow for much conversation," Lucky points out, "I'll socialize in the morning.  G'nite all."

Emerald sings a lullaby for the group, promptly making herself sleepy and cozy.

Nocturnal animals you say? Oh look, Superbird is an Owl.  Now if anyone tries to kill them in their sleep they will hear an Owl flipping out before they get all their hitpoints Coup de grace'd out the back of their skull.

"Alas, despite the more accepting nature of the local, business hours remain a daylight claim."

He thanked Emerald for the music and fell fast asleep.  The next morning fins him sitting on the edge of his bed, sleepily sipping from his canteen.  He waves to each as they wake.
