Misadventures of Unity

A bit of adventure had gone by and Reverie returns to the city of Unity, where Blake's last known location was. The civil war that happened wound up with some traitor in charge and the people unable to do much about it. Most of Unity's loyalists are dead.

Reverie came here ahead of her allies, due to things that she had to take care of in Unity and things the others had to take care of outside of Unity. She is observant, though, and notices that while there isn't any fighting going on, the general atmosphere is less happy.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Most of Unity's loyalists are dead?  Well, no wonder Blake is still alive then.  Not that things have improved any.  At least Unity hadn't been quite so obvious with it's political shortcomings.

On the bright side (for Blake), supply of low level magic items probably went with said loyalists.  So bring able to make those himself has helped in making ends meet with less life threatening government sanctioned assaults.

In fact, he's right there.  "I suppose your interest in an amulet that helps protect against poison would be minimal.  Hello Reverie."

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Reverie looks around and back to Blake with a sad look.

"I suppose it's too much to ask
That the good survived the attack.
What of Grall or Bridget, dear?
Are they dead too as I have feared?"

(OOC: Couldn't find anything on whether Seth's alts went to Unity or to Sunshine Villa, but it seems like they went Sunshine-ward. Hard to say. I think Chris left that open on purpose since it was during one of Seth's busy phases and he didn't want Seth to feel unable to join either Blake or Mittens)

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Blake shrugs, "If they have perished, I have not heard any proclamations of it.  Neither have I looked for them, in case they do not want to be found and my prior employment with them makes me worth watching to someone."

Reverie says,

"It is good to see that you're alive.
I wasn't sure when I arrived
Would I see friends? Would I see foes?
Would I get hurt? I couldn't know."

She lowers her tone.

"Is it dangerous to leave this place?
Or were you waiting for a familiar face?
I have a lot to tell, but not out here.
So show me where we can disappear..."

Re: Misadventures of Unity

"If we want to catch up, then the least I can do is see you to my home.  After the obvious events, there was no shortage of housing.  Why claim homes owned after the battle when so many are empty use as they saw fit."  Plus, the expenses of snooping methods on a lone man's home when they were trained in the Arcane was likely too high for Oppressive Government Budgets... Well, unless they got plot hook funding.

Blake gestures to lead the way, if the sweet poison girl was so inclined to follow.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Reverie follows Blake and keeps glancing around at all the aftermath. Most of it is cleaned up (such as the bodies), but the obvious signs of a struggle and the fact people are now very depressed shows Reverie something needs to be done.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Sharing some similarities to other Alts, the state of civilian life is slightly lost on Blake.  Narfel was not a place full of smiles after all (you could get frostbitten lips that way).  Not that he approves of how the current situation came to be at all.

Blake's home is reached soon enough (don't want to live TOO far from the exits, after all).  Once the door is shut behind them he will comment "While I have picked up more utilitarian training, rituals for privacy are both a waste of income and counterproductive in how much attention they can bring.  After all, why magical silence if you had something to hide?"

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Reverie says,

"It isn't something I've thought about much.
But I trust your opinion on such.
Emmy and the others are doing OK,
I just went ahead of them for today.
Mittens, well, has an interesting tale.
What we saw was kind of a veil.
She had been split into many parts,
Dividing her soul, dividing her heart.
None of us have actually met her yet,
For that, her other parts we'd have to get."

"...Let me see if I understand this correctly.  Mittens has suffered a literal and physical split of her conflicting traits?  If so, don't assume type for result.  Anger can be justly placed, while Joy can be found in sickening things."

He is silent for a moment, then adds "I would assume you came here seeking my aid in this?  For my known skill or ability to move more freely than certain children I can not guess yet, though I am inclined to help her."

Eli's jacked up INT stat probably isn't worth the tiny bonus to Arcana compared to his likely Kill On Sight status with the current government.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Reverie shrugs a shoulder, then goes for a hug.

"I came because I love you.
I came because they do too.
We didn't team for long,
But that doesn't lessen our bond.
I came to make sure you're alive.
And if not, try to help revive.
I plan to find Grall and Bridget too.
Bring our band together anew."

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Blake returns the gesture, Amulet Of Health for a reason (even if they nerfed the thing).  "The bonds forged in battle are stronger than many, even it seems my desire for quiet safety.  You would have better luck than I in finding our lost allies, though I will still do what I can."  Reverie is the one with the positive CHA mod after all, that's way better than Blake for Streetwise checks ;D

"When we find all that we are able to, what then however?  If we are going to make ourselves a target, it should be one that knows where to strike ourselves."

Reverie says,

"The current plan is to retreat;
If we stay here, we'll face defeat.
Once we find Bridget and Grall,
We'll rendezvous at Perish Falls.
From there, to Sunshine Villa we go
To meet the other four we know.
Then we sit and plan together
How all of this we'll weather."

Blake nods.  "Taking things a step at a time works just as well in our situation.  No use planning for everyone, should we be unable to find them."  Or, you know, if they are dead. That too.  Short post.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Reverie gets to searching with Blake, holding a cloak close to herself, looking kind of like Little Red Riding Hood, if she had black hair and a black face and red eyes, that is. She goes to a burly man and gives some kind of sign. The man gives her a grunt and a suspicious glare, but lets her and Blake enter. Reverie explains to Blake once inside,

"The sign I gave was given to me
By Emerald for our entry.
Hopefully these people will know
Where Bridget and Grall did go."

Re: Misadventures of Unity

That sign wouldn't have happened to be the particularly silly QFG Thieves Guild sign would it?

"Hopefully if we do find that detail here, it does not become something a whole lot of others find out as well."  Nothing to worry about there Blake, people probably already know.  Get your paranoia straight.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Reverie wasn't shown the thief's guild sign, just "hey I'm not a thief, but a thief trusts me to ask questions" sign. It looked more like a Naruto hand-sign. After some asking, one thief points out that Bridget was seen fleeing south via the underground tunnels. She was also seen carrying an unconscious Grall.

The Sewer Level already?  Things were certainly moving fast.  "Thank you, hopefully we will catch up to them before something less pleasant does."

In the outtakes, Reverie screws up the hand gestures and blows up half the room with a fireball.

That would have been metal. Meanwhile, Reverie hits the underground tunnels with Blake. While traveling, Reverie says,

"When we all again meet together,
We should have a sign of our own.
That way, we can be sure to never
Giver our secrets to strangers to know."

Blake smiles (and the universe ends).  "Yes, I think this may work.  Unless we come up with a more sensible one later at least.  Now, to see how much distance a head start gives while carrying someone like Grall."

Re: Misadventures of Unity

Considering Bridget was last seen the other day? Probably plenty. But the two do make it to one of the outlets of the tunnels. Bridget apparently didn't go to much effort to cover her tracks. Soon, the two find a cave where Bridget must be hiding in. When they peak, she is in there with Grall. The two seem unconscious.

Re: Misadventures of Unity

The practical side of Blake wants to suggest Reverie check on Bridget.  The stupid conscience side of him has him go to do so instead so if the Serious Business lady lashes out they wont get poison blood all over them for her trouble.

"Somewhat wishing Timothius Mittens were here, if only for the conveniences of paladin healing."
