Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Because let's face it, the name of the series should have been Christopher-X anyways. ;p

Liberty is a 12-year-old, going to the nearby middle school. It's her first year there (obviously), and using lockers is something she is still getting used to. It's about a month into the school year and the announcement is made on the news that aliens are popping up in random places. When Liberty hears the news, she immediately looks worried. A lot of other kids get excited, of course.

The TV shows one of the aliens and it's an adorable furry creature who has very human features. Angel the bunny.

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Joe does not wear short sleeve shirts over long sleeve shirts.  (Though in cold weather, he has been known to wear long sleeve shirts over short sleeve shirts).  Today's stupid short sleeve shirt logo is 'My Life Is Rated PG-13'.  Guess how old he is.

He is also coincidentally hanging out with Liberty. "Oh, wow."   That's right, Joe, actual alie- "that one's actually wearing more than gloves and shoes."   way to prioritize.

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Liberty says, "Wha? Joe, it's an alien, not a cartoon character." And Angel has pockets! Many of them! "You know what that means... they're going to try to put her under a microscope and such."

"You could be right.  But I think they'll probably have more trouble than usual because, you know, Bunny.  Until some point where it is revealed they are here to kill us all nobody ever does bad stuff to the cute aliens.  ET was kinda freaky looking so he doesn't count."

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Liberty says, "Hope you're right. But what if you're not? I guess I wanna make sure she'll be OK." it's then the TV reports that alien is in the same town as Liberty and Joe! "....what a coincidence." O.O

"Yeah, even if I had something better to do I think this would win for 'what I'm going to do with my time'.  Wonder how big the crowds will be by the time we get there?"

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Liberty says, "What would be better to do with your time anyway?"

Moving along, Liberty would go with Joe to the inevitably large crowd Joe predicted. People from all over the place have come, even from out of state, pretty much just to see this alien in person. Some are religious about it, with picket signs that say stuff like "Deliver us!" "Help mankind evolve!" "Let the New Age begin!" and other such things. Among the more helpful pickets are the "We love you, Angel!" types. While the less helpful "Go HOME!" signs are definitely present.

Liberty looks around. "...this could turn bad easily."

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

"It's cool, I got this."  Joe picks up a discarded sign, scribbles over the 'meaning of life' part of the sign with a marker and adds in a new half.

Now the sign reads 'What is your Favorite Snowcone Flavor?'

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Liberty giggles. "I dunno... you really think that'll work?"

The bunny is lead out for the people to see and there is a loud, ear-breaking cheer from the crowd. Even the ones who held "GO HOME" signs are too much in awe of an actual alien to throw anything at her yet.

Angel scans the crowd and sees the one, lone, clever sign of a child. Angel gives the cutest smile directly at Joe.

When she is given the microphone, Angel says, "Hello, everyone. I'm Angel. I'm not entirely sure how I got here, so I can't go home yet. But just like you would be, I am getting homesick fast since I fear I may never find a way home. Your support and concern are appreciated. As for why I'm here? I didn't come here on purpose, so it's purely an accident. Coincidence? Maybe. But maybe I'm also here for a reason I myself do not yet know. One thing I find neat is that you all speak the same language I do, so that will save us all a lot of trouble." she then points at Joe. "To answer you, my favorite snow cone flavor is probably Strawberry Cheesecake. And if your sign is an offer to take me out for a snow cone, then I'll take you up on it!"

Liberty says, "I stand corrected. And glad for it." she offers a fist-pound to Joe.

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

It helps when you are one of the few people not only to ask a specific question, but one with implied benefits.  Fist bumps are go.  "Fortunately, Snowcones are within my price range.  So yeah you'll be getting a welcome snack.  I'm Joe, this is Liberty, I have no idea who everyone else is."

Well, except for the new reporters.  But that's because they always remind you who they are on TV.

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

The people in charge aren't sure what to do, but they can't exactly make her a prisoner. Well.. no more than Truman Burbank ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Truman_Show )

Angel heads for Joe and Liberty, follows the two. "Lead the way, kiddo." she says, looking up at him with a smile. "So how old are you, anyway?"

Liberty answers, "I'm 12."

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Joe thinks the news crews should be thanking them.  After all 'Two children get Snowcone with Alien' is much more front page worthy than 'Hey, Alien here'.  "Thirteen.  Your options at amusement parks will probably be a bit limited around here."  Unless they count her ears for 'must be this tall'.

He starts heading snackwards.  "Don't mind the crazy people, most people are half decent around here but too quiet to really get noticed as a statistical sample."

Liberty says, "Joe's an easy-going guy, but I'm not. So if I start getting too abrasive, lemme know."

Angel nods to Liberty. "The very fact you say that, Liberty, is a testament to the kind of nice mannered kids I'm with at the moment. I doubt there will be an issue. So how do you two know each other?"

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

This Joe is based on the earlier prototype Darkthornes.  "I still find it questionable when I'm equated with good manners."   Elbows are meant to connect with the table maaaaan. "Nothing special, we live in the same area, go to the same school, neither of us think the other is lame, so we're friends."   Maybe if he had saved Liberty from sharks or something, then that would qualify knowing her as super noteworthy as opposed to one of those just generally nice things.

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Liberty giggles. "Haven't known each other for long. A month, really. But he's a cool guy and doesn't get all bent out of shape when I rant about political issues and stuff."

Angel nods and enters the shop with the two kids, going for her favorite flavor mentioned. She gives Joe a side-hug. "Thanks for the snow cone, Joe."

Of course, as at least Terdisas can agree, NOT having to be in danger to meet someone is a good thing. And amazingly, this qualification is even met when meeting an alien visitor!

Re: Sonic-X Minus Sonic

Joe discovers bunny hugs are good hugs.  We also discover this is one of the Darkthorne models that remembers how to blush.  "It's cool.  And really I mostly just listen and agree with your sane points while pretending I can actually remember the difference between a republican and a Democrat Liberty."

Probably a similar mindset is used by her the occasions Joe would go on about technical loadouts for fictional videogame robots.
