Live and Let Die

Setting: D&D

It's a relatively normal day in the crowded city of Gargoth. Today is a widely celebrated holiday that normally brings lots of business, so the normally crowded streets are even more so. People barely squeezing past each other.

Re: Live and Let Die

One of the benefits of comfortable clothing and a slender frame was that you could slip between most crowds.  The downside of this, was that you lacked the oomph or pointy shoulder armor to muscle through EXTREME crowds at times.

Victor the Vistani Visar... Wizard was demonstrating the latter more than he'd like today.

Re: Live and Let Die

A salesman aggressively tries to get Victor to buy from him. "Can I interest you in any of my wares? I sell all KINDS of things; from ointments, to clothing, to trinkets!"

Re: Live and Let Die

"Perhaps if you were a little more specific.  I've made it a policy to avoid street side skin creams, but if your trinkets are more than sharp tin I may be interested."

OOC:  Ancient childhood memory.  Oh hey this old timey wherever place has you make tin cut outs to take as souvenirs...  Welp, confiscated by parents once we get back to the car cause oh hey TURNS OUT CUT TIN CUTS YOUR CHILD HANDS -.-

The man says, "What's your fancy? What kinds of interests do you have? You might be surprised at what all I can offer you..."

Re: Live and Let Die

Victor says  "A 'water proof' Quills case that is actually water proof?"  Some days the weather just doesn't care how deeply buried in your inventory things are.

Re: Live and Let Die

The man says, "Alrighty! Come with me then!" he merrily heads to his stand and begins telling some bigger man about Victor's request. The man nods and puts his hands together before opening them to reveal a quill case that looks rather air-tight when sealed. "That'll be 10 gold."

Re: Live and Let Die

Victor Scoffs, Scoffs I say, "Ten gold?  I'll give you seven. Eight if you throw in pointers on your slight of hand work.  The whole street is your customer, but I'm the only one who seems to be listening right now." Of course, Victor is /Wis.  So much for the charming Vistani stereotype.

Re: Live and Let Die

The man says, "Sorry. No trade secrets. But if you are serious about a quill holster that is guaranteed to keep the quills dry, this will do the trick. 10 gold and the EXACT item you asked for, made to order, is yours."

Re: Live and Let Die

Victor knows a failed haggle roll when he sees one... Not that he can see the dice, or other metaphysical OOC things.  "I suppose 1 gold would be insultingly cheap for the tricks in hindsight.  Very well."   He pulls out the money, but asks before handing it over "And just who am I making this made to order purchase from?"

Re: Live and Let Die

"The name's Marvin the Marvelous. Thank you for your business..." he has that classic 'evil smile' that cartoons give to villains so that even the simplest mind will know the guy is has less than nice goals going on.

Re: Live and Let Die

"Second strangest stationary accessory purchase I've ever made, Mr. Marvelous." But sales made and Quill Case possessed... That might be possessed in the other way.

Victor has a feeling he'll be tempted to purchase some sand bags to hide behind as he tries to Identify.  Or maybe just use an already standing stone wall.

Re: Live and Let Die

"I think that's enough for the moment, thank you.  Impulse purchasing loses its appeal with repeat use."

Victor goes through/is carried off by the crowd.  He doesn't bother looking to see if the vendor mysteriously vanishes or not.
