Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie swings her sword, but hacks at just the wrong angle and barely misses, clanging against the wall instead! But she quickly recuperates her pride with a taunt, "How many times do we have to squash you like a bug before you get the picture? You must be the STUPIDEST demon there is!"

Dido says, "No. You face ME first! I don't like hitting handicapped people, but you're evil and I won't abide someone attacking my friends!" with that, he slams his hammer down on the demon's toe, crushing it.

Callie lets one of her hands free of her sword and holds her holy symbol in the direction of the demon before BLASTING the demon and her allies with holy radiance! The demon doesn't get harmed by it, but Callie's allies gain something from it as they all feel tougher.

Terdisas nods to Mittens, "True enough, though perhaps somewhere down the line you shall discover a Staff that allows something a demons multiple choice protection can not counter." Granted, necrotic damage is countered by many undead, poison immunities abound, etc.  Acid is cool though.

The sorcerer decides to wait until the Demon has already taken it's turn left itself off guard, before blasting it off it's feet with a bolt of lightning.
Standard: Readied action, Pinning Bolt.  Hits.  20 Lightning DMG.  Knocks target prone, and slows them until End Of My Next Turn.

Dido blocks the demon with his shield before slamming his hammer into the demon's kneecap! Thanks for the inspiration, Matt! "You must hate yourself MORE because you keep coming back to be humiliated! KNEEL!" and thanks to timing, the dude is forced prone by Terdisas.

FWOOSH!  Mittens manages to angle her signature burning hands just so that it hits only the demon!  The tieflings step forward to stab at the fallen demon.  Kitau carves open its chest cavity through it's back, yanks out it's beating heart, and tosses it at Terdisas.

The demon doesn't even get a chance to give a come-back before its body dissolves to smoke.  The gnoll giggles.

Callie says, "Ewe! That is absolutely gross!" she waves her hand in Ter's direction and turns her head away with squinted eyes and tongue out. Notably, she didn't say the team couldn't keep it. Callie then turns her attention to the gnoll. "Not a friend of yours, I take it..."

Dido looks at the others. "Do NOT eat that or feed it that to anyone you care about! It will be bad for your health at best, and corrupt your soul at worst. Still, I'll be surprised if it lasts any longer than a few minutes, given how his body vanished... but even if it does stay around, are we in the business of collecting the body parts of our enemies?"

"Nope," the gnoll answers, "Guy's a total jerk.  Hate him."

Sure enough, the heart also dissolves into smoke.  Kitau takes a rest.

"At least it would have been non-fattening?" Mittens offers.

"Darnit!  I was going to test the mirror on him!"

Terdisas looks to mittens, "As amusing as it is to think of the demon locked up in that enclosure, it would probably just explode in rage, possibly literally, and return home if it had worked."

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie says, "We can test it on the other gnolls if they come our way. But for now, let's rest and make our way to the next spot." She looks at Damakos and Nemeia and says, "Again; thanks so much for your help. I have a feeling you'll save us loads of time by the end."

Dido seems calmer once the heart vanishes. To Superbird, he smirks. To Terdisas, he says, "If he hadn't, though, would have been poetic justice to have him in the same room with the gnolls who were serving him. Because it wouldn't take long for him to kill them for failing or some other retarded self-defeating villainous thoughts. As it is, if we trap the other gnolls in that room, chances are they'll eventually turn on each other just to sate their hunger, if not their blood lust."

"Yeah, prolly," Mits agrees generically.

After a short rest, Mits picks up the black mirror, black cloth draped over it.  The familiar sound of hyena can be heard approaching from around the corner.  Kitau gets ready for another fight.

"I say let 'em come to us," Mits suggests, pointing at the mirror.

Terdisas nods,  "I am inclined to agree at this point.  I wonder what has made this place suddenly so popular all of a sudden, beyond our usual luck with timing and ancient lairs."  Will Dido and Callie even have any heal surges left by the time they deal with the apparent dragon locked away somewhere?

"Need to be in the open for the mirror to work," Mittens says, stepping into the open, "Could use someone to stand between mirror and enemy."

Kitau stands in front of Mittens.  Sure enough, four hyenas run into the room and vanish the moment they catch sight of the mirror.

"Close your eyes and fight with your ears!" the tied up gnoll shouts into the hall, "If you look into their mirror you'll be trapped!  Just come in straight!"

Two gnoll marauders charge into the room, eyes closed, and slash Kitau bloody!

"Can't have this one giving them instructions," Mittens says, stepping forward.

FWOOSH!  All three gnolls in the room are lit on fire!

"In case you were wondering that's nonlethal magical fire damage to the helpless jerk, Terdisas."

A huntmaster shoots an arrow into Kitau, nearly killing her!  Kitau slashes back at one of the gnoll with such fury it staggers back!

Callie steps out from hiding. She doesn't bother talking to the tattle-tail yet. She'll save that for later and is glad to hear Mittens say she's going nonlethal. Callie blows a kiss to Kitau, healing her wounds! Then shoots that wave of radiance her team is familiar with that makes them all slightly tougher.

"Yes, this Gnoll is only getting dumber.  Somehow, to my amazement in the face of much past stupidity." Stupid Gnoll helping his friends, who would do tha-...  You have got to stop applying logic to enemy actions Terdisas, it's not helping.

"Chirp, no, no.  Keep thinking he will see reason.  I want to see how deep this goes bossman."

The sorcerer shoots the closest marauder in the face with a rather lackluster (for him) thunder wave, and then 'sneaks' behind a pillar, only getting away with it because they have their eyes closed.
Standard: Thunder Slam vs Marauder #???, hits.  19 DMG.  no push.

The tieflings charge the nearest gnoll!  The maurauders attack Dido and Kitau, missing their marks, and one of them is punished with divine radiance!  Mits covered over the mirror, hoping the bigmouth would say, "You can open your eyes now," but the gnoll figured out her plan and just giggled.  Oh well.  Fwoom!  More fire!  The taddle-tale passes out.  The huntmaster fires at where he heard the scream come from, but the arrow flies harmlessly over Dido's shoulder.

Terdisas rounds the pillar to stop by Dido, and kerzaps the most wounded Gnoll so hard he doesn't even need a damage roll, sending a mild ochie into the face of the huntmaster.

As the arrow zips through where a taller Paladin's head would be, Superbird comments "Tweet, You'd think such a tall guy would be an easier target.

Callie heads forward, trusting Dido's challenge to keep her safe even if the marauder attacks her. She gives Kitau another heal, the gnome's wounds completely gone and good as new! She then holds up her hand and a glowing yellow lance appears in it. She throws the lance at the gnoll and it hits, granting Kitau an opening!

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Terdisas steps to a better firing position, and seeing the crowd of allies, is again reminded of his self conscious decisions to avoid area attacks (this may change at level 7).  He fires an angry curl of lightning over the heads of those he'd rather not hit, blasting the Huntmaster's legs so hard it does a double front flip and cracks it's skull open on the stone floor on landing.

"Chirp, it's not the fall that kills you."  "Actually, that is exactly what killed him."  "What am I supposed to tweeting say then?  That it's not the not the fall that kills you? That's stupid."

OOC Also, oh hey. Milestone? probably, it's been two encounters since I last thought it might have been.
