Corvus laughs. "Well it seems like it will be a fun journey with you my friends. So how should we proceed from this point onward?"

Kitau blushes from Callie's doting.  She hops to her feet and runs to the entrance to the ettin's lair.

"Where's Pyrus?"

Callie agrees with Ter's assessment and nods to Corvus. Then Kitau runs off. "That way, I guess?"

To Kitau, Callie says, "Probably wherever Mittens is."

Callie and Dido follow Kitau to the entrance. Dido says, "I expect when we clear this place out, we'll get our answers."

"It is quite likely, and not much different from usual except for the forced arrival" Show up, smash everything, repeat.  Terdisas feels quite fortunate that his Charisma modifier also contributes to explosions, give how violently disagreeable so many are.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Corvus turns and goes to follow the two that went ahead eager to help them find the friend they lost. "Wait up you two we do not want to get separated we don't know what types of traps may lie in wait." As he finishes his sentence there is a loud click and the tile under his feet sinks into the ground. Without warning there is a loud tearing noise and the air around him starts to warp sucking him into what looks to be a rip in space itself. It vanishes as quickly as it appeared.

Dido freezes in place and glares at the trap tile. "....fudgenutter." he comments. "Well he at least made one good point right before being ejected; we need to stick together."

Callie says, "Ejected. Yes. That's what happened." as though trying to convince herself Corvus didn't just get utterly destroyed. She then takes a deep breathe and goes to climb down the pit to double-check Pyrus, Mittens, and Corvus are not among the dead bodies.

"Chirp, But he was so young and beautiful!" No he wasn't, but it always sounds good to say at someone's unfortunate passing.

"I doubt they are dead.  Circumstances would rub it in our face more if he were."

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie finds no familiar corpses.

"I'm scouting ahead," Kitau offers.

She grabs one of the ettin's head and kicks it down the hall to check for pressure plates to the north.  No traps trigger.  So she sneaks to the door and peeks in.

Cold air brushes past as the door opens, carrying the smell of
dust and freshly turned dirt. A fine white powder dusts the floor,
except in the far corner, where bones form an enormous mound.
Perception Check
DC 20: Within the scattered dust you see the clear print of a
small claw or a line made by a tail dragging along the floor.
DC 25: A large crack runs along the frame of the door in the
north wall—large enough for a small animal to squeeze through.
Similar cracks are evident in the walls in both chambers.

"Room full of bones," she says to the group, "I'll bet they animate into skeletons."

She waves the team over.

Callie comes up behind Kitau and says, "If they do, that should make this fight a little easier to deal with. Confined room, my anti-undead power..."

Dido takes point, "On your mark, Kitau."

Dido will, of course, enter when everyone is ready.

  Klank. Klank. Klank.

What? Oh, Terdisas is using 'overlooked mundane item number 87'.  Door spikes.   This looks like the sort of thing with a tendency to slam shut behind you as something happens.

"It is days like this I wish I had a wider array of explosions.  But then, it is never really safe to use the only one I have around you all."

Dido charges in and says, "Terdisas! That explosion you were talking about? Would be really nice about now!" as he whacks rats with his hammer!

Callie says, "So much for turn undead..." unless these are undead rats? "Sounds morbid, but what if we were to lore them to the pit?" Callie has the rare opportunity to use Hymn of Resurgence and uses it! The rats defenses go down while the team all gain 5 thp!

"Sounds tempting, though I get the impression someone else does not have that luxury"  Terdisas fires off a blast of thunder as close as he can without catching his friends in the explosion.  At least one batch of still intact rats won't be moving closer any time soon, don't ask us why thunder causes immobilize.

A loud crash and splintering door fly from the right of Dido and a slim medium height figure rolls and takes stance close to him holding her hands out filling the room in front of her with a black flame scorching everything inside.

She notices Dido and turns to face him half wary of him half happy just to see another person rather than more rats. "Seems i'm not the only one who cant help but find themselves in outrageous situations."

(Flame was Drow darkfire.)

Kitau steps forward and takes out a rat with her javelin, watching Nina for signs of turning against her allies.  Almost half of the rats are defeated already!  The remainder attack Dido and Nina, biting at their legs!  Nina gets an opportunity to slash one of the rats as it passes her on its way to Dido!

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Initially, Dido doesn't get all that hurt, thanks to Callie. But with that many rats attacking, the shield breaks down and Dido lets out a practiced wince that doesn't even let out more than a cheek-twitch and slight hiss from inhaling sharply. He twirls his hammer, smashing all of the rats around him! "No kidding. We're missing four of our team now."

Callie steps forward, holds up her holy symbol and a huge swath of radiance comes forth, burning the remainder of the rats! The smell of burning rats fills the room. "...yuck. Well there, stranger, thanks for joining in. Feel free to exit the room at any time. My name's Callie. This is Dido, Kitau, Terdisas and Superbird."

So a few more rats spawned.  Nina gets a chance to look helpful this way.  In any case, between Kitau and the rest of the team, even the add rats are finished off in short order.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie snatches up Kitau into a hug. Her eyes are watery and her voice shaking. "....I'm worrying more and more for you as you scout in this place. But I do like how you did it just moments ago. Using something hefty to test the floor while you stay a safe distance. Just... be careful please."

Dido looks up at Nina. "Thanks for the assist. Kitau is our scout and she's tough enough to take what may be thrown at her until we catch up to her." First a tiefling and now a drow. He sees a pattern forming. But so long as these dark people are aiding the team rather than trying to kill the team, Dido doesn't mind.

Still... he hopes this drow won't suddenly disappear. They've lost enough people in one day to have nightmares for life even if they ever reunite with the missing teammates.

As long as the Drow keeps stabbing their problems, that's okay with Terdisas for now. Not that the perfectly normal Human is one to talk.

"Well now that that's out of the way, its nice to meet you all. Long story short I was returning from a contract when I came across a small golden item tried to pick it up and wound up in this place. I assume its the same for you guys, minus the reason for being on the road?" Nina cleans her blades and puts them back into there sheaths. Walking over to the rest of the party she offers her hand to any that wish to shake.

She looks to the two Dido pointed out as Kitau and Callie, "If its scouting or looking for traps I can help with that. After all in my field of work its always good to know how to disarm and locate a few traps. Besides not many compare to me when it comes to staying out of sight."

Kitau blushes from the sudden Callie cuddle.  Probably won't ever get used to that.  She refrains from pointing out that she was just now snatched up by someone totally unafraid to have her in close proximity, but Terdisas' point still makes her smirk proudly.  She nods to Callie and gives her a confident thumbs-up.

To Nina she answers, "OK."
