Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

"Your food or your life!" the gnoll threatens, readying an attack.

Kitau slips behind it into flanking with Dido, readying an attack of her own.  But the gnoll watches Dido hungrily rather than attack.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie says, "If there is more to it... then maybe we have to get to the other end of the room? Why didn't those heroes tell us about these mirrors?" that last part grumbled.

Technically, the gnoll's threat is true enough. At least to Dido, who suspects the gnoll might know JUST enough to help him escape.

Dido says, "I'm getting the food. Just a moment." and with that, he pulls out some rations from his backpack. Should the gnoll make the foolish decision to attack Dido, Dido trusts Kitau to ventilate the gnoll. Should the gnoll attack Kitau, he will be punished by Dido's divine challenge. Win/Win.

Once the food is pulled out, he offers it to the gnoll. "Now... what's going on here?"

"Probably because they died before even getting there."  He then looks to Mittens and says "Somehow, I doubt there will be anywhere in the room with that much distance from a pillar."

Unless any particular reason not to turns up, Terdisas gets to going back and looting materials for operation... whatever.  Superbird comments before vanishing from the room "Gotta go, pesky distance limits."  and shows up on Terdisas's shoulder again.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

The gnoll accepts the food and devours it ravenously, weapon still in hand.

"We're trapped.  Some magic mirror or something teleported me here.  Only had a glimpse.  Blasted Minotaurs.  What's your story?"

Kitau is still ready to behead the gnoll.  Meanwhile Mits makes a blindfold for herself.

"I'm going to grab the mirror, flip it so the back is facing out, then come back here and take a look.  I'm hoping there'll be something written on the back."

As a precaution, she ties one end of her rope to her ankle.

"In case a trap door to a pool of acid opens up under me."

She gives the other end to Callie and the others who shrug and hold on.

Dido sighs. "Same story... minotaur mirrors. But my friends are already working on a solution. Be patient and we will get out of this." he then looks at Kitau. "....sorry you got trapped in here with me, Kitau. Wish I had time to warn you."

Callie holds on to the rope also. "You know... if we survive this, I'm sure we could get some real good use out of these mirrors. Could save us a lot of trouble in the future. Heck... maybe we can use one of them against the dragon."

Terdisas returns with a pile of obscuring loot.  "I wish I had thought of that.  Even if it stops working later because ridiculously inconvenient things are only allowed to happen to us, it would be quite beneficial for the moment.  Well, so long as we don't look at it.  And manage to Get Dido and Kitau free before making the place much more crowded."

Once Terdisas get's back, Superbird flies off into mirror zapping for SCIENCE.  "Sup, squawk."

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

The gnoll is only slightly startled by Superbird.

"Well that's handy.  I'll be happy to be finally out of here.  What are you expecting in payment for my release?"

Mits doesn't fall into an acid trap, grabs the mirror, flips it around, then takes a peek at the backside.

"Brilliant idea, Callie!  Just bear in mind that there's apparently a one in three chance for it to fail judging from results so far.  But if we figure out what the others do...  Maybe we'll be able to up our chances."

She'll work with Terdisas to identify the enchantment on the mirror.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie cracks a smile. The wizard called her brilliant. "A mirror with a 1-in-3 chance of stopping the dragon right off while we have our hands free to do other things is still a better chance than us without it. I just wish I could help more than just coming up with that idea. Feeling pretty helpless at the moment. Hopefully, you two can figure things out enough to help Dido out. And then we can proceed with the plan to cover the mirrors."

Dido says, "Fair question. I suppose helping us with the rest of this place would be good."

When Superbird poofs, Dido waves and says, "Welcome back, Superbird."

Dido waits for the gnoll to agree to that. But whether the gnoll does or not, Dido then asks, "So why were you in that room and not warned of what it does?"

Superbird rolls his birdy eyes,  "And I gotta go again, the things I put up with."  Back to Ter, Superbird looks again  The tickets are now diamonds and gets teleported to the opposite end of the room facing the altar.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Kitau headshakes at the idea of having the gnoll join the team.

"And risk falling into another crazy magical trap?  No thanks.  I was sent to explore the room.  I guess when I didn't return, the others must have figured, 'Don't go in there or you'll never come back.'  Tell ya what.  You can have my shield once we're outta here.  Must be worth several gold."

"Don't sweat it, Blondie," Damakos, "Think of it as your friends' chances to shine."

"Blargh!"

Two boneshard skeletons appear from behind the curtain that can only be seen by Callie and the others through the portal mirror and defeat Superbird!  They then return to be behind the curtain.

Between Mits and Terdisas, they figure out what each mirror type does without any further mishaps and without having to go any further into the room than the first three pillars.

"I have an idea.  It'll hurt a bit if we're right about the attack on this one, but...  If someone deliberately looked into the black one while carrying the portal one, then they'd be trapped with Dido and Kitau but with a way out:  Looking into the somewhat painful portal one."

Superbird is dead... For about give minutes.  "Blarging chirp.  That was lame.  Skeletons are lame."  The familiar hops to his feet on the ground.

Terdisas says "For the moment, those harmful mirrors will be of little use considering the undead tends to ignore that sort of thing.  And yes Callie, at the moment you are probably the toughest one of us left so should stay.  I'll deal with carrying the teleporting mirror through the teleporting mirror"  And hope the universe does not explode.

"And I'm staying here while he goes this time, tweet."

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

"You kidding?  I'm SO done with those other gnolls!  Didn't lift a finger to help me out, nooo.  Left me here to die slow of starvation!  Soon as I get outta here I'm gunna take up a life of hunting.  Pheasant!  Mmmm.  Boar!  Mmm-mmm.  Wild raddishes!  Yum!"

Kitau looks irritated.

"The advantage of Callie going is that she has the ability to turn undead.  She pops out with Dido and Kitau, the skeletons attacks, then BLAM!  She hits 'em with that holy power of hers.  But to save her, Dido, and Kitau a bit of pain, I'm thinking I could go in myself.  This robe of mine when activated grants me a bit of a health barrier.  I go in, you, Callie, and the Tieflings get ready at that corner over there, Dido and Kitau hold on to me, I look at the mirror, all three of us teleport.  Then we all deal with the skeletons together."

"Just a thought," Damakos interjects, "While you guys do your heroing, me and Nemeia will be dealing with mirrors so you can see what you're doing."

Dido says, "Good to hear." even though he doesn't believe the guy. "I wonder what the others are up to..." he thinks aloud.

Terdisas shrugs, "True enough Mittens.  At this point I just want to get this over with as fast as possible without getting any of us hurt."  He looks to Damakos and Nemia, and says "Thank you, that will definitely save us some time."  And the end boss is getting bored waiting for the party to deal with this room in an smartypants manner.

Either way, Terdisas will get to working on the project as soon as the others are ready.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Mits poofs into the trap room and explains the plan to the others.

"What about me?" the gnoll asks.

"You like me must exit by looking at the mirror.  If it doesn't work at first, just keep looking.  It's only a one in three chance it won't work on any given glance."

The gnoll looks unsure, but doesn't really know of any other options.  When Kitau and Dido are ready, they need only stand on one of Mits' feet and hold on to her arm to be technically held by her and close their eyes.  Kitau shrugs and goes along with the plan.

Dido says, "If my weight hurts your foot, Mittens, I appologise." he's only half teasing. After all, he doesn't expect a giant like Mittens to be bothered by his weight.

Callie moves up into the room with Terdisas as much as she can. "Who knew rescuing slaves and a dire bore would involve all this?" the Duergar slavers in a fortress made sense. This all is a bit intricate. But hey... cultist gnolls. What can ya do? "I'm thinking I'll get as close as I can and when I hear a skeleton coming close, I'll use the power of Sehanine to turn them."

Mits uncovers the mirror and POOF!  She vanishes, leaving Kitau and Dido behind!

"Oops," Mittens says, keeping her eyes pointed in the direction of the skeletons, "OK Callie!  Do your thing!"

Kitau notices Mittens vanished and didn't bring her with.  She opens her eyes and teleports, wincing from the pain.  The skeletons attack!  One manages to slash Mits, causing her to get seriously sick.  Mits and Kitau retaliate with their readied attacks!

"Urk.  Ongoing necrotic."

The gnoll also is teleported out of the room.  He slinks away from the skeleton he appears next to then begins to follow the outer wall.

Dido looks at the mirror and... nothing. "Fudge."

Mits blasts the enemy with more fire then shakes off the ongoing necrotic.

"Ooh.  Feeling better now."

Kitau smacks her enemy and several shards of bone explode from it, hitting her and Mittens!

"OW!  Ok fair warning, stay at least 15 feet away from these things if you can help it," Mits warns.

Kitau then steps into flanking and hooks her axes on the skeletons to slam them into each other in front of her!  The gnoll continues to run from combat.  The skeletons retaliate against Kitau, one of them landing an attack that sickens her!
