Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Mits steps away from the two skeletons and blows them back into a corner with beguiling strands, defeating one of them.  As expected, it bursts into an explosion of bone shards, injuring Kitau and Dido both.  Kitau grabs Dido by the belt, drags him away from the last boneshard, and finishes it off with her javelin!  It explodes, but the two were just far enough away to not be harmed!  Kitau then drops to one knee, black ichor oozing from her wound.  Meanwhile the Tieflings continue covering up mirrors.  "That all of 'em?"

The gnoll runs to the exit.  "Blast!  Who put this dire boar in the way of the exit!?"

The big piggy growls at him and attacks!

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Dido puts a glowing hand on Kitau's shoulder and the shards of bone that hurt her drop out of her as her wounds begin to heal.

Callie blows a kiss to Mittens before quickly going to help extract the necrotic gunk from Kitau.

Dido: Lay on Hands. Dido spends surge, Kitau gains her surge value (11) hp.

Callie: Minor Healing Word on Mittens, Minor Moon Touched on Kitau (heal for 3), Standard Heal check on Kitau to stop the ongoing. success!

Kitau HP: 9 + 11 + 3 = 23
Mittens HP: 14 + 23 =

Terdisas covers up the last remaining pillar, than looks to see that yes, his friends have completely obliterated the skeletons while he wasn't looking.  As well as Necrotic BBQ Sauced when he wasn't looking.  And healed while he was looking.

"I am glad that it was nothing you could not handle without me, but I do wish I could have been a bit more direct help."

Superbird, still by the door, chirps "I have conflicted feelings about this hairy vs hairy conflict."

"Thanks!" Mittens and Kitau say in unison.

"OW!  I'm going to turn you into bacon for that, pig!" the Gnoll screams

They hear things getting violent around the corner and rush to investigate.

"That's our friend's pet!  Don't hurt it!"

OOC: Double Move.  Also, was milestone?  Things get hazy when combats are months apart.

"Continue covering mirrors," Damakos says, "Got it."

He and his compatriot continue to cover mirrors, eyes closed.

"OINK!" the dire boar roars as it gores the gnoll who yelps in pain.

Mits points her staff and demands, "Drop your weapon and step away from the pig or..."

Kitau javelins the gnoll!

"Or that."

The gnoll snarls, jabs the pig in the face, then steps back.  She hides like a sissy behind a pillar and magic missiles.

"And that."

"Hey!  I stepped away from it!"

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Dido finishes his sprint by running to be in between the boar and the gnoll. He reaches one hand to put it on the boar's snout and the other hand to hold up a shield towards the gnoll. He looks up at the boar with a pleading expression and headshakes, shushing the pig. "It's OK. This one's a prisoner." he says as calmly as he can to Steeltooth, hoping it had been trained what the word prisoner means.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Terdisas takes a moment to facepalm, as Kitau and Mittens do the opposite of what Callie said.  This moment of luxury taken as people gouge bits from eachother, he looks to the Boar and yells "Stop making yourself more trouble than the than you are worth, or I will kill you with your own namesake."

The boar suddenly sits, and starts crying piggy tears.  But at least it's not trying to kill anyone anymore.

Terdisas turns to the Gnoll, "I am sorry for my friends violently protecting our paycheck, but considering there is a Dragon in our future I will finish the job if this doesn't stop right now, and from what I can gather violently exploding can be a worse fate than stab wounds."

  "Chirp, Damn dude. That's harsh."

OOC: Intimidate, high roller success on Boar.  Action point (because intimidate is standard in combat, I might get away with it because im not fighting but just bein safe) Success vs Gnoll.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie hurries over to the boar and gnoll. "OK! ...OK... is everyone calm now? Please everyone? Just calm down. I will heal you all." She's not going to contradict Ter. She would rather be stabbed to death than become unrecognizable chunks on the walls. Although exploding DOES have the advantage of a quick death, she would rather her friends have a chance of closure if she ever does die.

Callie pets the pig and rubs her cheek against him before kissing her hand and then petting the pig with said hand. The pig's wounds begin closing.

"Looks like someone already covered this last one," Damakos comments, cautiously peeking an eye open.  He heads over to the altar to loot it.

The giant piggy oinks and licks Callie's face in gratitude.  Kitau draws her axes and approaches the gnoll who points his spear at her!

"Back off!"

Kitau jumps up, knees him in the teeth, and brings the hilts of her axes down on his shoulders in one fluid motion, knocking him out cold.

"Warned him to drop his weapon," Mittens mutters.

Callie pulls Kitau close to kiss her cheek, causing Kitau's wounds to close. She looks at Terdisas. "Thanks for helping with calming the situation, Terdisas. It is calm now, though. So let's gather together and rest like Dido suggested. All things considered, I think that went better than I expected. I'm very proud of all of you. Now for the record; if we ask someone to surrender, and that someone doesn't drop their weapon right away but isn't attacking anymore, I'll consider that good enough for us to not attack them for the time. Is that acceptable for everyone?"

"Well how 'bout that," Damikos says, inspecting the contents of the altar, "Hey, everyone!  Found your mask!  And there's a spare one of each of those mirrors inside this altar.  I'm guessing for when their acolytes decided smashing was the answer.  What's this?  How 'bout that.  There's a booklet with instructions on how to deactivate and reactivate them."

He returns to the group with the book and mask, reading the book.

"Oh, so that's how you were supposed to get out of that prison.  There's a command word that will send those trapped inside the room back out here."

"Handy!" Mits answers, "Thanks!"

Kitau blushes from the kiss, glaring daggers at the gnoll.  "I'll consider it."

To Terdisas she answers, "If by 'nearly everyone else,' you mean, 'One out of eight.'  Callie was the only one to offer to protect him from the pig.  Which I was conflicted about.  The gnoll hurt a friend of mine unprovoked.  I'd have laughed at his corpse if he died a piggy death."

Mits shrugs and answers Callie.  "I doubt the same courtesy will ever be extended to us outside some super arrogant enemy who thinks we're harmless even when armed, but sure, I'll give it a shot, Callie."

"I don't care enough about them that I will cry if Kitau rips out his heart and eats it right now."  "Chirp, not that I wouldn't pay five gold and two silver to see that."  Terdisas ignores his familiar,  "So much as I am annoyed with the whole 'let's stab and maim problems that have already been solved peacefully... So far as my yelling at people I may explode them is peaceful."

His thoughts turn to Mittens's past solution to an upset Kitau over prisoners not being dead that second instead of a few hours later, is to light them on fire.  Terdisas may not fall close enough to Good to leave Unaligned, but he was also raised to be practical when it came to violence, crime, and the mixing of the two.

Sure, the Gnoll might very well have decided to suicidally attack them like so many have before.  But then it wouldn't be while Dido is deliberately putting himself in harms way instead of smashing things with a hammer.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie turns to Damakos and says, "Thanks, Damakos! That's extremely helpful! Now that we know all that, we could retrieve the mirror that's still in that enclosed room."

Dido says, "Cut us some slack, Terdisas. Just like Steeltooth is used to being tortured by gnolls, so too are the rest of us used to needing to defend ourselves or die. It's not as easy for most people to exit combat mentality as it may be for you or Callie. As much as I like peaceful solutions, that guy pretty much offered to kill me even when I was offering kindness, and Kitau was present for that. In my mind anyway, that guy was a threat to my life as long as he had his weapon. Perhaps it was arrogant of me, but I was also sure I could take a hit from him. Kitau, however, likely didn't want to wait to see my blood get drawn."

Callie says, "And we have a protocol for future incidents now. And what's more; Kitau didn't kill the gnoll. Everything is OK now. But is there something you would like to hear, Terdisas?" she glances at the gnoll. Dido is done tying the dude up, so Callie offers a prayer for the gnoll, healing him.

Healing Word on gnoll: 6+21(surge)=27

The gnoll regains consciousness and is to flustered to say anything other than, "Stupid pig."

Kitau nods to Dido then offers Terdisas a hankie.

Mittens takes a look at the book Damikos is reading.  "Tartar?"

Bamf!  The mirror that was in the trap room appears at her feet.  She and the two tieflings look at it out of reflex and Bamf! Mits and Damikos both teleport painfully to be around the corner!

"Idiot cat!"

"Ouch."

Bamf!  The familiar smell of brimstone and brutish voice accompanies the return of the Balgura out in the hallway!

"The hells?!  Here again?!"

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

"That is exactly my point Dido, while the Gnoll was being a threatening idiot they only bothered to stab the boar trying to kill them, because they did not want to just sit there and die before we got around to getting it to stop.  Then Kitau stabs them, and the Gnoll doesn't even even fight back against her, or Mittens, or any of us except the violent pet of some dwarf."

He accepts the hankie because why not, "It isn't if the Gnoll deserves it or not, which they probably did.  It is the pathetic circumstances around it where the worst thing he did to us is make threats, and whine without even fighting back when we stab him.  How pathetic a Gnoll is it when they just let someone walk right up to them and axe them twice, without taking a swing back."

Then there is the familiar sound of recurring demon, and Terdisas sighs melodramatically (but no snorting involved).  "Of course, after all that talk against what I feel is needless violence, here comes someone which I desire to perform so much needless carnage against Bane would say 'dud, that's kind of extreme'."
