"I am afraid I never got around to such things, though we should probably take the most recent papers and most worthwhile seeming tome with us at the very least on the off chance we come across one of the means of translating it."

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

After searching, grabbing papers, and opening drawers, Lerkeeb finds a locket that has a painting of a pretty human woman in it. Aside from that and the papers, there is nothing else in the room.

"Perhaps belonged to an unfortunate victim of these kobolds.  Let's go."

He heads for the exit and moves bodies out of the way.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

It's a nice drawing, but clearly the maker did not have any Kodak Cantrip Paper... Wait, was Lerkeeb an Ebberon style Eladrin or a more generic Eladrin?  It's hard to tell when you have common magical cookies and hair care products in your pack.  (robes are cheap, even for players who account for the cost of a robe).

He pockets it and prepares to leave whenever the rest get around to it.  "As tempting as it may be, do not look directly into the sun."  Lerkeeb you don't have heal training why are you giving health advice to the Drow.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Because the drow is used to the DARK. Anyone would know that much. That said, when the whole group goes outside, Faerema is slow coming out. She seems hesitant, shades her squinting eyes as she comes out into the light. But when she does, even though she keeps her eyes closed, her closed eyes go from squinted to relaxed and a smile crosses her face as a breeze blows through her hair. "The air smells so wonderful on your world.... and what I was told about the sun by that human is true; it makes you feel warm all over and seems to soak into your skin, warming you all the way through."

June smiles over at Faerema and then glances at the others. "Never heard of a drow longing for the sun like this..."

"She is different from the stereotype in many ways," Archer agrees, "Though I suppose we each are in our own right."

"Even Dwarves go outside."  If only to yell at trees.  Still, he doubted a dwarf would look as good in the light shining on them.

"If only for self reflection, dare I ask how I differ from such expectations?"

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

June says, "I'd say what I see different in each of us, but I really don't know what's different about myself compared to the stereotype of my kind."

Faerema says, "I think any of you not killing me on sight already makes each one of you different from the stereotype of every capable surface dweller, elf or not. But elves especially are supposed to hate drow on a personal level."

Archer thumbs at Faerema.  "What she said.  So shall we get going, then?  Ladies first."

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"I have been somewhat distracted by the sudden imprisonment and things trying to kill me to worry about that.  Why, should I be concerned about you bathing in the blood of children and trying to feed me to your pet spiders while I meditate"  Of course not, that's stupid.

Where is she going to get children on such short notice?

Faerema asks, "Wha-...why would you not?" as she and June take the lead as per Archer's insinuation.

The forest is refreshing. No dark, cold cave walls. All warm sun with shade under the trees. Just ahead is a small clearing.

"You've so far given no reason to distrust you outside your appearance," Archer answers Faerema, "A hood will likely help shade your eyes.  You can borrow mine."

He offers her his cape.

"Is that a yes, no, or maybe?  Your capacity for unbridled carnage has proven true, but the same could be said for any Elf of competence.  Some of us just prefer to stand back when the blood starts flowing."  Not that it always helps.  Close burst five SO MUCH BLOOD.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Faerema takes the offered cloak and puts it in, hugging it close to herself, hands to her chest. "....thank you." She turns to look at Lerkeeb and says, "I am not like that. I have grown tired of the ways of my people and wish to be rid of it. I am merely surprised you are so trusting. If what my people told me of the innocent naivety of surface dwellers is true... I wish to be like that. I do not want to live in fear."

June nods. "I wouldn't call it naivety, Faerema. Innocence? Perhaps... but not naivety. Trust is a strength, not a weakness. These fine men and I are simply giving you our trust so that you can prove that trust worth it and, in turn, trust us. Give yourself time... you will find after a few nights, or maybe as long as a few months, that you can trust us not to hurt you."

Archer nods sagely.  Back to the task at hand, he takes a careful look around for hostiles.  Or another gift.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"If violence alone was a detriment to trust, then who here would be worth such a thing?" Whether or not it was anything close to naivety or innocence, at least Lerkeeb is even asking about the subject instead of blindly assuming.  Even if his questions on the matter are a bit direct.

"I have little doubt that soon enough, you will be wishing for more practical minded sorts dealing with you, than your expectations showing to be quite common."

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"I didn't say anything about violence having to do with trust." Faerema points out.

The area is relatively clear. There do not seem to be any hostiles. Just a quick look around, however, reveals there is what looks like a few cabins to the east.

When this is pointed out, June says, "Good a place as any to start... hopefully the people here have nothing to do with our captors..."

Archer nods and follows June's lead.

"Since we're on the topic of racial stereotyping, I would like for June to be our group spokesperson considering hers is a race generally more readily accepted by others than then rest of us."

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"When it comes to my expectations of the 'ways of your people', Violence is one such expectation." Violent spider worshipping backstabbing matrichal(cant spell word good) Drow, yup.

He looks over to Archer and June, and says "This is acceptable, if June desires."  Lerkeeb is aware that just because he is one of his player's CHA characters, doesn't mean he's the best front man.

She leads the group to the east. Enter the new map!

Somewhere in the shadows, Spokespewson Wonnie peaks ominously.

As soon as the goblin looks like he's about to shoot, Archer force-shoves the goblin! But the gobling goes with the shove, spinning on his toes before firing at June and hitting! The other goblin also shoots June, hitting her!

June squeals from the pain, arrows sticking out of her! She coughs some blood.

two shots! both hit June for a total of 18 damage

June HP: 30 - 18 = 12

Lerkeeb response to this turn of events with dignity and reason.

He set's the closest enemy's face on fire.  Pop quiz.  What hair do you burn off on somebody who probably doesn't have eyebrows anyways?  Their nose hairs.
Minor: Curse closest sharpshooter.
Standard: Witchfire vs closest sharpshooter.  Hits.  17 Total Fire and curse DMG.  Target has -6 penalty to hit, until end of my next turn.

In THE FUTURE: Teleport two east when curse boon triggers.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Faerema steps forward, "June!" she panics. She looks in the goblin's direction and the shadows cast by the fire on his face turn into clawed hands and rip the goblin's intestines out through his bellybutton. The goblin falls, only to hang by his own intestines.

"Gross!" June comments as she pulls out a hand crossbow and shoots at the remaining goblin. "But thanks..." Her shot grazes past him! "Take cover, everyone!" with that, she heads over to the wooden posts and kneels behind them.

Nightmare Shades v bloodied goblin. Hit(11)!
 dmg: 23

Goblin HP: 14 - 23 = hung from branch
June HP: 12 + 8 = 20
