Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

The centaur blink-blinks.  "Aww...  I can't attack!  Where's the fun in that?  Tell you what.  I surrender till this stuff wears off."

The dragon thing curses in draconic, then in common says, "I'll roast you over the lava and savor the taste of your flesh!"

It then flees and hides behind the statue with the other one.  Not it's turn yet.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

May says, "Pff... silly centaur... silly baby dragon thing." and hops past him before going to face both the centaur and the dragon-thing. She smacks it unconscious and seems to miss the centaur due to her carrikal getting caught on the dragon's hip bone.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

Kyle moves up for a better view, then unleashes angry tornado punch to the face at the remaining enemy, sending them flopping to the stairs if not dunked into the lava.  "Surrender's don't really work that way."  Well, okay that's how surrenders work for PCs. But still.

Standard: Gale via Mittens. 24 DMG. Knocks centaur prone.
Mittens haz +5 power AC.
Centaur now slowed, until end of it's next turn.

Centair: 112 HP left

Raichel yells, "Rai!" and thunder accompanies her voice, but all that happens is the centaur feels a powerful force go over his prone self. Feels like it could have knocked him in the lava just as easily as Kyle's Tornadoooo PONCH!

"Dodged!  Ow!  Dodged!  Dodged!  I can't believe I'm lasting this long!"

That last dodged was because Mits failed to connect on her attack.  "Yeah, but you're getting boring."

She steps back.  The centaur looks deeply offended.

"How do they make threats like that when being beaten so soundly? Do we literally beat them senseless?" Timothius asks. The one who threatened to eat him is unconscious before Timothius can even answer the guy, so he doesn't.

"Evil makes them senseless." Raichel answers.

Timothius shrugs, causes his wounds to completely vanish, and says, "Have fun, team." and radiant targets appear all over the centaur.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

May's faster-than-lightning block pushes the jab up over her head before slamming into his belly. "Wow! That coulda hit me! Nice try, buddy!" then suddenly, her carrikal slips in from behind her shield gashing him badly!

The centaur takes advantage of this follow-up and hits May HARD with the greatsword, cutting through even the protection Kyle had given her and sending her back ten feet! "I hit again! WOOO!" he seems energized. "Not bad, kobold, but I won't let you win without a challenge!"

May grins. Yep... she's in the moment now. But hey! At least she doesn't hate the guy.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

Kyle was more concerned about the potential dunking than the centaur landing a hit, so is glad to see May didn't get sent quite far enough.  He sends the centaur falling back on it's horses ass with a shot from his crossbow in the meantime.

Timothius looks off to his side at the sudden zap.

Raichel dodges the lightning and turns into lightning and BOOM! zaps right through the centaur's side and out his other side, materializing in front of the Abishai. "Big. Mistake." she says to the demon, eyes narrowing and fists gripping her staff.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

"I still don't trust that big statue, but unless people want to try their luck rope crossing above the lava from the other side up twenty feet, it's the only path leading up to the latest teleportation circle."

Fortunately in this case, Kyle is just being paranoid as the statue does not try to impale him then dunk him into the not lava as he approaches.  At least when it comes to 'magical' hazzards he can take ten just shy of Hard Lv 30 on the DC chart (so far as that ever gets followed).

Mits tugs on the centaur.  The body doesn't budge.

"Right.  So leaving the bodies to burn in the lava is fine with me too.  Sorry Timo."

She follows Kyle.

Timothius says, "You could've dragged the gith.." before grabbing the centaur and hefting the big guy out!

Raichel shrugs and picks up the abishai, runs to the other one and scoops it up and tosses them out!

May goes and tosses out the gith then helps Tim finish tossing the centaur out.

The three come in, shut the doors, and follow the other two.

"I need to ensure we have a way out for ourselves first, the last one of these took much longer than expected without the lava rising at the time" ... It did, right?  He's got his dailies charged and everything.

Double ladders!  The first one is tiny, the second one not quite so much.  Well at least Kyle's got good cardio.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

The group makes it to the teleportation circle in time.  The lava continues to rise for a minute or two, then stops just short of the two 50-foot ledges.

"Well...  Turns out the bodies weren't in any danger of being burned up after all.  Wait.  Why is the lava above ground level?  We're about 50' up from ground level... Which is below dike level...  Oh ok.  So it seems Elemental Chaos lava follows some of the basic laws of fluid dynamics after all.  Just looks confusing from here.

"So we ready to activate the notoriously dangerous trap teleportation circle?"

Teleportation Circle: This permanent tele-
portation circle has been set by Sarshan to send
creatures to the teleportation circle in the next
encounter. It cannot be reconfigured.

Raichel says, "Oh sure. Come all this way, fight dragons and brave chaos lava just to stop because some portal might be a trap."

"It is somewhat unfortunate, yes.  I suppose I could always send a clockwork bomb through first.  They are not as good as they sound, but I suppose would make for a good distraction and decoy before we go ourselves."  Well, also a loud warning something is coming through.  But whatever.

"For me at this point, basically none." Yaaaay alchemist theme.  And alchemis gloves. And an artificer feat.  But mostly the first one right now for frivolous usage of things.

A quick collection of parts results in... Uh.  Clockwork crab cuckoo clock?  He sends it through the circle.  "Okay, we should wait a few moments first.  Then we can head in whenever it seems the least bad idea.  Which I guess is anytime.  Not like it will become a better one"

Close burst 1 on bomb, 24 vs reflex. 3d10 Fire on hit.  being hit (kyle def) makes it splode early.  Set for 6 tiles of movement.

Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between

"K!"

Mits steps through the portal.

This L-shaped chamber is bare stone except for the glowing
sigils of the permanent teleportation circle within which
you stand. The chamber is divided into three subchambers,
each set 5 feet below the previous, but the far end of the last
section cannot be seen.
Perception Check
DC 16: Scratches mar the floor and ceiling, as if the
walls have moved inward at some point, then back out.
DC 21: The dull echo of your footsteps suggests that
hollow spaces lie beneath the floor

With a grinding of stone on stone, the walls of the
subchamber lurch forward. At the same time, two ghostly
forms shoot up from beneath the floorboards.

Two ghosts - a banshee and a specter - are hovering in the middle of the room with scorch marks on themselves and the floor from the bomb they attacked.
