Re: Scales of War: The Temple Between pt.2
The behir roars in rage and thrashes about, trying to remove the powder on him.  The beholder glares at Rai, pushing her back.  It fires a central eye ray at her, weakening her, and a cold ray, but she dodges.  It then rolls around, trying to remove the purple powder.

Mits smiles that she made someone giggle with her antics.  She figures Rai's got the beholder covered, so she focuses on behir face.  The puppet flies off her hand and floats over to the behir.  It then dances about, flailing its eyestalks.

"Boogidy boogidy!"

The behir looks terrified and cowers!

Tim renews his seal.

Raichel says, "I'm OK! No worries! I'll down this stupid thing!"

All anyone can see is a stray woosh of air that causes a dent in the wall next to the beholder. Her recognizable thunder slam missing.

Still dealing with the magically induced weakness, Kyle digs through his things and pulls out a... Grapefruit?

  <Beholder>"...I'm sorry what? I know I don't need glasses but I can't believe I'm seeing thiAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA</Beholder>

Yeah, when you are 60% eyeballs, having a grapefruit bullseye (beholdereye?) you and spray grapefruit juice in a burst 2 radius is rather unfortunate.

May whacks the behir again. "You know... a behir would make for an interesting mount too, since it can talk."

She glances at Mittens and grins. "Love your puppets! But I have to admit I'm worried you'll pull badguys away from me if you get much better at enemy humiliation."

Weapon Mayster's Strike v Behir. Hit(43)!
 dmg: 30
 May heals for 11 hp

Maych-P: 109+34 + 11 = 120+34

The beholder sighs in resigned defeat and zaps Rai a few more times.  The behir thrashes about in a big tantrum.  Mits' puppet tries to wrestle the behir with its eyestalks but gets smacked aside.

"Heh.  We'll figure something out."

Tim says, "Nooo! Not the beholder puppet!"

Raichel throws a casual lightning bolt at the beholder and misses.

May whacks the behir, finishing it off. But KO nonetheless! It was an intelligent creature and May wants to figure out how to have one for a mount later, anyway.

Thump!  The beholder collapses!

"Thanks, Kyle!"

Sip sip sip.  Satisfied smile.  A phoenix feather falls on the puppet and it "resurrects!"  With happy smiles it flies over to cuddle Timothius!  ♥

Mits gets to work tying up behir face.

Timothius gladly takes the beholder cuddle. Then heads over to Mitts.

Raichel peeks around the corner of the KO'd beholder. "...rai?"

Then trots over to the others. Mitts is flanked by twin sibling hugs and May smiles at the bunch. "Behir mount... for when I wanna make a big impression. Drake mount. For when I want the enemy dead too fast to even make an impression." she nods sagely.

OOC: Yes, the group is STILL encountering enemies with smaller damage mods than the low level guard drake.

Mits is all kinds of smiles and blushes from the adorable attention.  She shares her hot chocolate.

"How 'bout a two-headed dragon mount?" she suggests slyly to May.

May's eyes sparkle. "That would be amazing... but I'm sure he'd sooner die than give us the time of day, let alone serve as a mount. Hmm... unless you magic types know how to cause a dragon to serve you against their will?"

The sibs just sip away happily at the cocoa, mewing in unison.

"Not particularly, no. Sorry May.  Taking care of a dragon is a big responsibility anyways, I'm amazed all our enemies who ride them don't forget to feed them."  Pffft, upkeep effort is for PLAYERS, not NPCs, Kyle.

"Super library of secret knowledge not far away.  Maybe we can find something about training dragons there.  Kyle's likely right about it being more trouble than it's worth, but nothing ventured nothing gained.  Hmmm... Maybe if we modified those apparatuses to look more draconic."

Ice Shaft: This smooth shaft is 10 feet in diameter
and leads up 30 feet to the second level of Icehome. It
requires a DC 30 Athletics check to climb.

When the group discovers this is the only way to the second level, Mits comments, "I'm now wondering how the giants get in and out of here.  I'm imagining them stacked up like monkeys and climbing over each other.  More likely they have a ladder up there and don't share with the fish people.  Who don't care to go up anyway."

Raichel says, "Think you're all fancy, eh shaft? I'll show you..." and proceeds to walk up the shaft. (haha spider technique climb speed at-will. I could even walk on the ceiling if I wanted)

May meanwhile grins at Kyle. "Thanks again for the rings. This has been a comparative cakewalk to what it could have been."

Timothius nods and says, "Yes. Thank you. And thanks for the magical protection. You can't really blame the enemy for going after you like they did, for as nice as your shield is working out."

An eerie rippling glow bounces off the numerous
stalagmites in this cavern, illuminating the area like light
shining off the water. At the far end, a pair of ledges rises
up close to the ceiling. There is a tunnel passageway to the
north.

Raichel drops a rope for the others to climb and anchors herself in place (unless she spots a convenient place to tie a rope), reducing the DC from 30 to 10.

Tim and May climb up.

Mits climbs up as well.  "Downplay it all you like, Kyle.  That's huge."

A voice from the shadows calls out in a metered, cool
tone. “You have come to threaten the will of my master. The
Seed must be protected at all costs. Approach no farther and
leave the way you arrived, and I shall spare you the agony
of the change.”

(Mits succeeded and shares) A DC 23 Insight check reveals that the githzerai’s
voice, though cool and calm, has conflicted underpinnings, and an external force is supplanting his will.
