Re: The Frozen Wastes

Kyle wishes that weather patterns and other seasonal phenomenon were not dictated by individual entities. Could be worse though, they could be rescuing the worlds most muscular baby to start the new year.

"Well, you clearly seem to have a handle on compensation.  Far too many consider it selfish to ask for so much as a single copper after saving a few hundred people.  Is there anything we should be made aware of when it comes to actually fighting Mordona?"

Ivon probably got token 1 hitpoint guards for her nap time too.

OOC: Since no magic items selection is at hand, I'll be able to work out level 5 stuff in a few minutes (Thanks, builder!).

Re: The Frozen Wastes

Mits is of course thrilled to have new powers and starts blasting bits of scenery for fun!

"Wheeee!"

She snaps out of it and smiley-nods to the orb.  "Sure thing, Ivan the Luminous!"

Re: The Frozen Wastes

Ivon looks to Kyle "Yes, you should know that Mordona can not be so easily defeated, even with the last of my power it will take more power than you have even now. Go Travel to the north past the town and you will find the entrance to the Ice Caves that Mordona has made her home, they change by her will and may have a different layout than that of when I owned them, But within lies my treasure room and a chest that contains crystals known as the Hearts of Fire, items I have long kept so that the towns people can approach me without freezing under my cold aura. Should you find them and someone with the ability to forge them to weapons then you may have a chance, but be warned Mordona will not have left them unguarded."

"If you will permit it I would traval with you so that I may provide help as I can."

Re: The Frozen Wastes

Eli says, "You sure are a nice ghost, Mister Ivon... I don't know why we wouldn't want you to come with us..."

He cringes when Mittens starts blasting scenery and says, "Mittens! Careful! You could cause an avalanche and kill innocent people without realizing it!"

"Well, that sounds promising if they still work."  He tries to pretend the frivolous destruction of scenery didn't happen, and says to Eli "I suppose some might not trust the one who's power is being used to cause these problems in the first place."

You know, the one that needs special precautions to not kill people just by being near them.

"I thank you adventurers." Ivon says.

Ivon floats to Eli's side and hovers over his shoulder "I shall stay close to you young one if you will permit."

(The encounter with the mysterious orb lends our heroes with new found power and friend, with the orbs help the team easily navigated there way through the storm and into the town of Congelata. As they enter the town the can see few people and two carriages filled with people leaving the town. So now heroes what shall you do next for this quest may spell the end for you and this town should you find yourselves ill prepared.)

Re: The Frozen Wastes

"Good question, consider magic crystals have already been brought up."  There were many guesses, but considering the subject involved was Magic it could be basically anything.

Re: The Frozen Wastes

Ivon laughs at the reactions the Crystal brought, "No young ones that is no enemy, but an Fairy crystal that allows those who posses a fairy stone attuned to it may return to it from any location. Though not used very often because of the rarity of the stones it is useful to those who bear its stone. I know of only of 3 to have one, and two are no longer in this land, the third was lost at sea with a dear friend who died over 300 years ago. Hmm, but i may have had some stored among the treasures in my home should you find them they are yours. Go ahead Yong one touch it feel the energy that runs through it the energy that binds all life, and runs deep through our world to connect everywhere."

"If we are able to recover the remaining crystal, it would be an easier question to answer."  Though named artifacts are always a bit more tricky.

"Though with it unused for so long, I expect the townsfolk leave it be for sentimental value if nothing else"  As opposed to selling several tons of rare gemstone to get their economy back on it's feet.

Re: The Frozen Wastes

Ivon hovers over to Eli interested in the boys eagerness to learn and his affinity for magic and all the energies of the world. "It would be quite impossible to remove this crystal and if you could it would die for it feeds off the energy that runs through the planet and cannot survive without it. Tell me child, no your name is Eli is it not? What is it that you see, what does the energy that reaches all points of the earth tell you what things to you hear, taste, feel, and see all of these senses are effected by the energy and you most of all have a high affinity for it, a rare thing indeed."

Re: The Frozen Wastes

Eli says, "The ley lines of the world... I see places I've never been. I see desert, ocean, mountain, plain, forest, the underdark, the weak points between the planes..." his eyes widen with awe. "I see forgotten places... cities thought only legend or fable... I see travel ether; ether used for transportation magics... in its purest form." He looks conflicted as he removes his hand. "So that's how it works. I knew things like this existed, but I didn't think I would find one so soon."

See Kyle?  This is what happens when you don't take the arcane class named 'Wizard'.  "I can see how teleportation circles became so popular, while this languished into obscurity then.  Even the best method in all the planes only goes so far when it can hardly be used."

Ivon looks at Eli "Should we survive this venture and stop Mordona I would not object to teaching you the ways of old Magic, though the ice is my home to master one element is to grasp the theory of them all. I have many friends throughout this world that I can ask to help with the training as well."

( As the group heads further into town they hear a voice behind them.)

"So you made it did you. Well then allow me to show you the way to the tavern." Gloria appears behind the group axe over her right shoulder and the soldiers dog-tags in her right hand.

She stops when she notices the orb and looks confused, "So what is that, I don't remember it from our last meeting."

Eli looks real excited about Ivon's offer and says, "I look forward to that. But I guess we gotta wait..."

Eli then turns to Gloria and explains, "This is Mister Ivon. He's the spirit of winter, who Mordona stole the power from. He is here to help guide us on how to stop her."

Ivon replies "Then I shall teach you all i know when the time comes."

Gloria bows to the orb, "Master Ivor forgive me I did not know it was you. We all assumed you dead and that as the reason for the natives to run wild."

"Raise your head child and I will explain." Ivon tells Gloria of things past and the situation.

"I see, then we must make for the Ice Caves as soon as possible." She looks at the group, "Please follow me and I will take you to the tavern we can speak more there, as much as I wish to leave now you all must need rest and we must gather previsions." Gloria walks off toward a large building near the fare side of town.

Re: The Frozen Wastes

At the very least, Eli should make sure they manage to recover the 'Need these or just being near him kills you' crystals before taking up any apprenticeships.

"It would be best to prepare for the trip, yes.  Though will anything change with the natives if Mordona is stopped, if you do not make them change?"  Kyle would not be surprised they were normally kind of jerks and Mordona's just canceled their curfew, the way this sort of thing tends to run.
