Scales of War: Throne of the Stone-Skinned King

May drinks a flight potion and presses her nose like it was a button, activating jet packs on her back to thrust her through the air at super speeds! "MAAaaaaayyyy!" yes, she finally used her name as a battle cry. Also, once in the enemy's face, she roars that draconic roar before whacking all three!

She throws her whole body into a "pitch" motion as if Kyle were her baseball and he goes flying towards May, landing well withing buffing distance!

Zoop!  Zoop!  Kada'ne teleports twice to get closer to the action.

<Abyssal>"Killkillkill!"

One of the demons claws at May!

Zoom!  Mits closes distance with her magic carpet and summons a hoard of little wrestler cherubs that all grab hold of the three demons and begin punching!

"Thanks, Raichel."  He toughens up May, and manages to hit two out of three huge enemies with pacification dust.  Honestly considering the sizes involved, he's just happy to have gotten two of them.

"So, figure this is worth the Eyeballs time or not?" While they are quite hefty, there are only three of them so standard issue radiant laser doom may handle things.

Raichel flies in the direction of the enemies. "Let's save our heavy hitting stuff for in case the authorities decide it convenient to sentence us to death for rescuing the people here. Just because a construct said it's OK, doesn't mean the authorities will be on our side."

You saved the city! The sentence is DEATH! Oh what's this? You're fighting back? And you just decimated the authorities! No you've REALLY done it! We were going to be nice to you before, but now we're going to kill you! ...wait. <.<

Yeah. When it's possible you could have people trying to kill you for saving their town, it's not like they can threaten to make matters worse.

May twirls her weapon around, doing that fun new tornado technique of hers that winds up hitting the enemies twice! "I agree with Raichel. Better to keep our better stuff for when we need it. These guys are just mindless dopes, so they should go down readily enough. I'm more worried about whoever is mind-controlling them..."

Because at this point, if something with the anger of a demon isn't responding to taunts from obvious threats and goes after random civilians, May is convinced these demons are being mind controlled.... or these happen to be the kind of demons that don't HAVE minds to begin with.

Zoopzoop!  Kada'ne teleports to flank with May.  Then he blasts the enemy with a huge burst of burning ball lightning, lighting the enemy on fire!  The demons roar in rage against the alchemy preventing them from attacking!  They try to rub it off.

<Abyssal>"Get stuff off!"

"Wow nice one!" Mits cheers.

Her eyes begin to glow white.

"Eyebeams!"

All the little cherub wrestlers eyebeam the enemy.

"Explosions!"

They all explode!

"Timebomb!"

Mits begins to pulse with light, the pulse gradually blinking faster and faster!

<Abyssal>"At last!  Attack!"

The demons burn and sizzle, but that seems to only fuel their rage!  The demon to the left of May attacks her three times and fails each time thanks to Timothius' power.  The other one manages to bind Mits with his chain and yoink her closer.  Both try to get away from Mits' time-bomb, but May flips them upside-down!

"Boom!"  Mits detonates!

The demons shake off the fire and acid.

Timothius heads up to the enemy and gets an evil grin. First, he bursts with radiance, making them vulnerable. Then radiant chains bind the demons, making them unable to thrash about as they were so fond of doing. He then blasts them with radiance! Timothius just attacked bloodied enemies. But the look on his face is like he is both happy and sad at the same time, a pained smile on his face.

Kada'ne blasts the enemy with another ball of lightning.  "Considering how quickly you're taking these enemies out, at worst a mastermind was using this battle to keep you distracted for half a minute.  Not very effective.  I think Kyle has the right of it."

The demon furthest south burns and sizzles.  It roars in rage and pain, whipping Timothius with his chain!

Kyle tries out a long known but never used bit of alchemy.  He tosses the jar over towards the pile of demons, and a flash of lightning which sends their fur poofing out that would make Raichel... Well, not proud, just at least somewhat satisfied.

Wait, scratch that.  One of the Demon's eyes pop out of his head.  Proud it is.

"Why haven't I used that more often?" Oh right, fight durations and it still being weaker than his other alchemy options.  Thanks, good damage rolls!

OOC: Thanks to mittens, All enemis are DAZED.
All enemies also have -1 hit rolls until end of my next turn. (Munchkins have actually argued RAW means it's all encounter because the higher level versions forget to list the duration -.- I'd believe it possible if not for it being an AoE + Damage. There is a -1 AC all encounter vs metal item)

"Nicely done, everyone!"

Mits arm-arounds her bro to side-hug and smiles at him.  "Saved the day once again."

Starting on the fifth round and every 2 rounds thereafter until the end of the encounter, three marut
blademasters (Monster Manual, page 185) join the
fight to help contain the demons. These combatants
do not attack the PCs unless the PCs attack them.

only image i could find: http://cor-innovations-web-mar...ut%20Blademaster.png

The authorities discover that the demons were escaped slaves.  Their foolish master is dead, so no trial for mishandling and endangerment will have to happen.

Once the last demon falls, the Bazaar’s commerce
resumes as if nothing had happened. The dead drift
away and are eventually picked up by locals for rendering into candles and food, but not before they are
picked clean of valuables. As the characters recover,
Trethrix of the Seven Diamonds appears at their side.
A beautiful woman, svelte and appealing, she smiles
and thanks the adventurers for their selfless service.
As a reward, she gifts them with treasure parcel 5.
After she honors the characters, she returns to her
palanquin to continue her shopping.

"Wow," Mayhem whispers, "That was one of the people in charge of this whole place."

Mits ohs.  "Welcome back, Mayhem."

Timothius seems to have easily shaken off what would normally be bothering him (OOC: he saved at the start of his turn from being stunned by attacking bloodied enemies). Timothius looks at Mayhem. "Huh... wow is right. You just don't expect thanks directly from important people."

Raichel says, "Clearly, they really need to handle their slavers a lot better."

May shrugs. "Well... I dunno about you all, but I'm hungry. Let's go find that place we're supposed to meet at and order some food."

"Noms sounds good to me!" Mits agrees.

Mayhem leads the group to their destination.

The Dreaming Spire

There are no shortages for places to stay, but characters looking for accommodations find the Dreaming
Spire is their best choice (especially since they were
to meet the envoys here). A strange structure, it
looks almost like a tree rising from the middle of the
market. Both the top and bottom are taverns called
Night and Day respectively, and the main walled
areathe trunkholds thirty rooms. Guests can
arrange for rooms and meals in either tavern.

Food get!

When the PCs ask after Rel’thrik, they learn he was
killed in the streets by a huge blue dragonspawn and
dark angels. The human bartender looks closely at the
PCs, sighs, and then hands them a small metal box. He
says, “He said people’d come looking for him and left it
for them. Guess those people would be you, huh?”

"Yup!" Mits answers, accepting the box.

After it is checked for traps, poisons, curses, etc., she takes the box someplace for the group to inspect the contents privately.

The metal box is bronze and featureless except for
a thumb-sized groove on the bottom. Placing a digit in
the groove causes the box to float upward and unfold.
Appearing in the center is a shimmering illusion of
the githyanki they were to meet. It speaks at once,
“My mission has failed. The Dark Lady’s agents infest
this place, and our efforts have proved insufficient
to evade them. If you truly wish to make an alliance,
come to Tu’narath and we will find you.” The illusion
flickers and dies. Moments later, the box evaporates
as if it had never been.

Kada'ne sighs.  "A serious setback.  But not insurmountable.  Security measures have likely changed in light of this, but I can at least help with locating a proper vector for approaching Tu’narath."
