Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

"I'm sure it is a considered a great responsibility to have, you two."

Totally Happened. Probably:
A man in regal robes with a sun for a head, puts on a pair of sunglasses.

  "Laser."

  "Cats."

Solar Systems drop down like discoballs as Pelor starts breakdancing.  Mittens Imp and Mittens Cherub fly by firing lasers from their eyes as a mountain sized Timothius plushie starts rising in the background

"Responsibility is a four letter word," Mits counters with an impish grin, "Well congrats, Timo!  I couldn't have named a better candidate for the job."

Amyria nods and smiles.  "If anyone could repel an army of dragons, it would be you all.  Thank you once again.  Enjoy your well-earned rest."

Extended rest is go!  The following day, Amyria meets the group for breakfast along with several other eager members of the Coalition such as dwarf-face paladin.  Mits smirks.

"Couldn't wait for the debut of Mittens' puppet show of 'How the Prime Material Plane Was Rescued,' I take it?"

Amyria smiles and nods.

"Very well!  You shall have your puppet show!"

Mits' version of what happened includes the various puppets occasionally nomming a fork to stuff some breakfast into the narrator's mouth.

.....and if Pelor is that cool, then even Kyle has to admit there is no reason not to worship Pelor.

The kitty twins giggle from the puppet show. May points at several times throughout the tale and says, "Totally happened that way too! No exaggeration!"

Timothius changes into his winged-white-kitty form to show Kalad that part of the story. In turn, Raichel also changes into her raichu look so he can see how she looks that way.

Kyle may sass the gods, but he has yet to tell his friends to stop worshiping them.

"Of course, I do wish those dragons had been smart enough to realize the scepter supposedly controlling them had been broken for decades.  It would have saved so many places from invasion."

Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

"Tsh.  I know, right?  Where's the legendary insight and intelligence of dragons I was told about in storybooks?  I haven't really seen it in any of the chromatics we've encountered.  I guess it's only a metallic dragon thing and storybook writers were all, 'We need big, epic enemies for the heroes that don't look like complete morons to our audience, so uh...  Chromatics are toootally super smart!  Honest!'"

Amyria just smiles and shakes her head, choosing not to counter the heroes.  Kalad seems a bit agitated.

"I don't trust those githyanki.  We already have examples aplenty of 'em breaking iron-clad agreements.  I'm thinking those 'helpers' that Gith or Vlaakith or whatever that person really is sent us are in reality spies.  They may be minus their dragons, but they're still very much a threat."

Mits shrugs and says dismissively, "'Keep your enemies closer,' as the saying goes.  Play along and let them believe they've deceived you.  Pride's their biggest weakness.  So long as they think they have you where they want you, they don't expect you to force them to kiss each other and pass out in the next few seconds."

Kalad seems halfway satisfied with the idea.

Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

Timothius and Raichel change back.

Raichel says, "We can at least trust that they will, for the most part, follow the path that leads to their best interests. Just like with Kada'ne helping us and proving his worth as an ally multiple times. His help, in no small way, contributed to the downfall of Zetch'r'r."

Timothius thinks aloud, "We also have the truth about Vlaakith; that she is, in fact, Gith. I don't know how important that will be to keep secret in the near future. But it gives us a huge advantage. Gith knows we can tell her people who she really is. And once that information becomes obsolete, her people will know they were betrayed. They will know the sting of betrayal and it may stay their desire to betray, lest they be compared to Tiamat or Zetch'r'r. But even if what I just said is just optimism at best, I doubt we have much choice anyway."

May says, "I'm sure the Githzerai are even less excited. Ironic as it sounds, they were more of a target to the Githyanki than we ever were, and they are being asked to both set aside old grudges and try to trust enough to build relations."

Timothius says, "To Gith, the githzerai are just as much her people as the githyanki. She is from an ancient time when the two people were one. So in her case, I don't doubt her sincerity there... but it doesn't change the fact the githzerai are, in fact, being asked to make larger leaps of faith than us."

Raichel looks at Kalad. "Hey, Kalad. Remember. Subtlety? Subterfuge? Direct? In the end, none of it mattered. We punched the enemy until they either stopped moving or submitted."

"At the very least, any questionable intentions from her are likely to be held back by her desire to wait until Tiamat's forces are dealt with.  Causing direct problems means we stop to punch her plans until they stop moving, rather than her enemy's.  At the very least if we can't expect her to be trustworthy, we can expect her to avoid personal inconvenience until she feels she can get away with it."

Of course, this is all once more assuming their enemies are not entirely selective in their intelligence based on 'what would inconvenience the party more'.

Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

Kalad laughs at Rai's point about punching!  "Aye!  And even I, who was killed, was brought back to continue with the enemy punching!  Thanks again for that."

Mits chuckles as well and nods to Kyle.  "Lying McUntrustworty Devil Lord claimed that Gith was so super powerful that she didn't need our help to rescue her, but made the important point, supported by events that followed, that we are quite useful to her.  So yeah.  So long as they don't get all, 'To the death!  Because... Reasons!' we should at least have a while to catch our breath from the invasion.

"For what it's worth, Pelor doesn't know when our next trial will be.  So may as well enjoy our time off while we have it."

Amyria nods.  "I hope it is at least two weeks.  Because that is when I set our victory celebration.  With so many nations involved, and so few who would want to attend with the money to afford teleportation, I figured that the soonest I could reasonably set it."

Kalad strokes his beard.  "I'm hoping those githyanki won't be attending."

Amyria headshakes.  "I doubt they would want to anyway."

Mits spreads hear hands out overhead.  "I'm envisioning airship flying overhead with a giant banner flying behind it!  Perhaps one depicting each of Tiamat's faces with a fist punching it!"

May says, "I agree with Kyle; Only a moron fights a war on two fronts when fighting a war on one front is an option. While our enemies have proven to be dumber than an inbred ogre, Gith actually struck a deal rather than fight us."

At Mittens' idea, Raichel hops to her feat. "Yes!" and then punches at the air. "That's about the best idea I've heard in, like... I don't even know! Just yes. That's the banner we'll have!"

Timothius smiles at Rai's enthusiasm and nods. "Mittens' idea has a diplomatic approach to it also. A lack of gith faces would be best if we are to expect the masses to even begin any diplomacy with them..."

May says, "Airship!"

Amyria and Kalad chuckle.

Mits grins and offers her sibs and friends fist-pounds.  "Yay!  Glad you like the idea!  But yes.  Fireworks a definite must.  Oh wow...  I'll bet Kyle's alchemy would make for the best fireworks ever!"

Amyria ponders.  "The celebration will be at Sayre.  I don't know if they have any limitations about fireworks."

Kalad scoffs.  "Still say it should be at Overlook.  No problems with fireworks there."

Mits shrugs. "I'll leave all those details to you all."

Timothius headtilts. "...why Sayre? Why not Overlook? Not that I doubt your decisions, Amyria, I'm just curious what led to it being there."

May asks, "Speaking of Sayre, how is the coalition? Anyone ragequit in our absence because we were busy saving our world out of our obviously selfish motives to accumulate piles of gold?"

Raichel gets a mug of beer of whatever Kalad recommends, in order to partake in traditional dwarven socializing.

Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

Amyria gives Timothius a wearied smile and headshakes to May.  "Same reasons it is the seat of the Coalition.  Sayre's location along with their relatively neutral standing among the members make it the most acceptable to everyone involved.  None have quit."

Kalad clanks mugs with Rai and grunts, "Diplomacy never takes the practical solution."

Mits counters, "While that may seem to be the case on the surface, it was far more practical in the long run to have tea with Telecanthus than to just punch his face in before we had proof enough to put him away.  And it would be far more practical for Quelenna to be more diplomatic toward us."

Kalad takes a gulp of his ale and slams it on the table.  "If not for Amyria here holding me back, I think we'd be one less elf in this world."

Amyria sighs.  "Wearisome though she may be, she is more useful to us alive."

Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

Timothius says, "Nor does she deserve death. That poor woman needs love. Clearly she has had so little of it in her life she doesn't even know what it is." He agrees with Kalad and Mittens both, though, concerning diplomacy. Since the soul of diplomacy is finding "common ground" or a "middle ground", it only has the practicality of something getting done at all, while ignoring the practicality of whoever clearly has the best idea (since that is never clear to everyone).

Raichel shrugs. "Enough about her, though. If we're gonna relax, it's going to have to be while not thinking about things that add stress. And is it just me, or has Kalad's beard gotten more amazing since we last saw him?"

May says, "Not just you. So what's next, Amyria? You said two weeks? Is that two weeks we just do whatever, or was there something that demanded our attention before we fully go into vacation mentality?"

Timothius chuckles from Kyle's comment.

"Meat cake!" May says before nomming her breakfast steak.

Raichel says, "I guess for me... I'd like to learn the nature of my new power."

Timothius nods. "And May... you should too. You seemed to have doubt you changed, but I'm sure you have."

May nodnods. "Sure! We can test each other out and learn the nature of our changes and stuff. I don't mind a day of that to get ourselves winding down to where we can relax properly."

Timothius looks at Kalad. "Amyria, bless her heart, will be busy with preparations. What about you?"

Two weeks is probably going to not be enough of a timescale to notice Kyle's aging process has stopped at 90's action guy scowl, but this will probably do wonders for his fabulous hair in the centuries to come that even changeling stylists have yet to replicate.

"Clearly we should find the largest weapons possible and see which ones May can swing the hardest."  That's scientific, right?  Kyle can have off days, but then this is probably a good idea despite the caveman sound of it.

"Meat pie," Mits insists.

She points at the little seed spinning around her head.

"This is an astral seed.  I have my own little world in the making bound to me.  The seed was created when I stumbled upon an interesting insight while in that final fight with Zechy:  The first of the tools used to form a world.  I have full control of how time flows on my seed. I even have a limited amount of control of how it flows around me.  This allows me to call upon my biggest kaboom more than once in a fight.  Hence my being able to show those re-runs earlier.  With study, I expect to eventually have full control over every aspect of my dominion and it will blossom into a full-fledged world.  But I'm guessing that'll take quite a while to figure out how to do that.

"Not sure what to name it, though.  Secundus Material Plane?  Mittens' Land?"

Kalad sweatdrops.  "So um... I guess that would make you like the Primordials to your world.  Careful not to become too much like them.  As for me?  I'm headed for Overlook to pass out invitations and deal with church business."

Timothius nods to Kalad. "Alright then. We'll catch up with you and Amyria a day or two before the celebrations." He looks at Amyria. "If there more than just us waving at people while standing on an airship, we'll wanna know."

May says, "Airship!" and finishes her plate before saying goodbyes and heading out with the team to find a good spot for testing abilities.

"If what mittens says is accurate, then a pocket dimension would be the starting point.  Just be careful the end process of a 'new world' does not consume you.  It seems half the poorly documented means of giving birth to a new world involve the maker being used up as a catalyst." Some would nitpick they do not 'explode' when ascending, but that's how all the drawings look.

Re: Scales of War: EPIC!

Let the tests begin!

MAY

When May goes to try herself out, she is weilding larger weapons easier (if still feeling them as being a bit off-balance for her size). But her true capabilities come out when she tests her raw strength... One weight after another doesn't seem to really challenge her much.

Drum full of oil? Piano? Those take some umpf for May to lift, but the average person would be putting as much umpf into one pack of roof tiles.

She is able to pick up two drums of oil with a lot of effort and even winds up fine with someone climbing on top of her in addition.

May is able to drag two horses.

Normal Load: 480 lbs
Heavy Load: 960 lbs
Push/Drag: 2,400 lbs

RAICHEL

When Rai is tested, multiple tests bring the same result: She is just downright better all around. Stronger, tougher, faster, smarter, more perceptive, and her force of personality and general presence is stronger. Really, though, it is her speed and presence that are the most noticeably increased.

TIMOTHIUS

Timothius claims he doesn't need testing and already knows what happened to him. But May and Rai are excited to see him put through his paces anyway, so he gives in. They test everything he spoke of. Timothius proves he can no longer be frightened in any way. He has become highly resistant to fire and radiance. Timothius also informs the group that his ability to speak Supernal was more of an early gift that was supposed to happen when he became an angel, but Pelor likes him, so he got the gift early.

He proves he is able to fly faster than he can run, but he also is fully aware that he can not stay airborn; only able to fly for bursts of 35 or 40 feet if doing other things, 70 to 80 feet if he concentrates on it a bit, and 90 to 100 feet if he goes full tilt with no regard for anything. (The varied speed depends on whether he is taking armor penalties or not)

Kyle now possesses average charisma, though still needs work having as much tact as even the average person.

Though considering this is one of his player's Alts, that all on it's own is relatively staggering.
