Re: AWAY

Stay warm, y'all.  I'm away with my wife a few more days, but the weather's turned frightfully cold, far more than we'd normally expect in the central, southern plains of the US.  Looks like the upper midwest is getting pummeled with wind and cold, as well.  Stay inside if you can, drink warm things, and connect with folks in person or online if you can.

Check in with those special to you or to whom you're special, even if it's just a note to let them know you're alright.

Re: AWAY

Yeah, I heard Iowa was colder than Alaska.  Dress up warm.
Here in England, we had a short sharp Canadian winter, but it seems to have passed now (I hope).

Re: AWAY

In reply to Ghanek Brightwave (msg # 29):

Stay warm there in England, Ghanek.  Much of the US is experiencing far colder than normal temps and it's really hitting pretty hard in some communities.  I gather Canada's getting hit pretty hard, too.  A friend of mine in Ontario's shared some details of their weather and I've reckoned that as frigid as the central Great Plains seem right now, we've really got it pretty easy by comparison.

Relief appears to be on the way, though.

Ghanek are you old enough to remember the UK winters in the 1970s or 1980?

Can remember watching the snow fall most of the day out side our living room window on Christmas day.

Despite -- well, everything -- about where you're staying now, I'm so glad to know that you're inside and protected from the environment at least. Please stay safe and warm!

I am just about old enough to remember 1963 (I was 3 and we were staying at my Grandmother's while waiting for the council to move us to a new house - apparently because I was picking up fluent profanity from our next door neighbour Mr Cole).

Re: AWAY

Still here, yup, though headed off to the Mayo Clinic [again] for another [yet another] round of [likely inconclusive & very expensive] testing.

Meanwhile, stay frosty V, we'll keep a light on for you.

Glad things are at least maintaining a static level, and not getting worse for you after such a hard run. I will be here when things get better.

As an aside, my father is in the ICU, and we are withdrawing sustaining care tomorrow. I'm not sure how much I'll be around this week and next week.

Re: AWAY

I know Maynitra has had a hard blow due to grieving, and I really want to give her the same consideration she, and all of you, have given me. I want to respect everyone else who has a RL consideration to be made, and so I will make whatever concessions I can to let as many people benefit from this game as I can. I am the GM, and so the game hinges more on my interaction to move forward, by necessity, but I don't want to leave anyone who signed up out of the joint effort.

I know there has been some illness, and inclement weather, but is that the extent? This is the first I've been here, on RPoL for more than a short while. I hope you'll excuse me having not read all posts ATM, and any faux pas I may commit by having refrained from doing so. I just want to try to assess the here and now first, and then catch up.

Thank you for the light. I want to keep that light on now too.

I'm still here, but I'll admit that I'm very low on energy. I don't want to leave or drop out, however -- sometimes having a distraction that's easy to engage can be nice.

Re: AWAY

Away for a few days, starting Thursday.  Just getting a year older, so we're going camping by the coast. It's all rain and snow, but it's not work.  There'll be ships passing by to look up on marine radar and coffee, so everything is good.

Re: AWAY

This is really here for two reasons. By the strictest term, I am going to be away, tonight and tomorrow (maybe tomorrow night). Second, it's here because it's a follow up to a line conversation here.

It is finally (a week belated) my birthday celebration, and while it has been acknowledged already by some people in my life, like money, or me budgeting a dinner take out of shrimp, I finally get a day to relax and have a "me" day. I am very bad about doing that IRL. I'm often prone to spend my off time doing things I should reserve for other times. Whether it's working in leisure time, or improperly adjudicating "me" time to group activities. My two friends from Steam and I are having a game night. Though only one on one at a time. One of them is running an Exalted game on Maptools, the other is watching me play Fallout 4 to practice for streaming/uploading. Neither are available ATM so my "day" will be part of tonight and part of tomorrow. Overall, counting our basic functions, about 30 hours to relax. I've been super sleep deprived and so I'm far less inclined to repeat the tradition of years prior to have a bash. COVID didn't kill that, but it was (probably) my very last year I did that. Last year I was homeless, this year I'm sort of homeless. The year before that I was with select friends, and the year before that I had my best birthday ever.

I really feel lucky to have lived through all I have.
