Lots of apocalyptic conspiracies about it from nut jobs galore! I'll be in the garage, drinking beer and getting my albums ready for my pop up show tomorrow night at a local brewery. Good times!

Got a good view of the last one back in 1999 here in the UK and the world didn't end then, can't imagine it'll end now either.

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

I'm part of a vinyl record club here in town and we meet one Tuesday night a month at a local brewery. They let us take over the music for the evening and we just sit around, drink beer, and shoot the shit for about three hours. It's a great evening.
And our club leader organizes a record show twice a year at the same brewery with 20 vendors, food trucks, DJ's etc. It's a fun day.
So, tomorrow night, I'm bringing a few boxes of albums to sell and I'm hoping for a few folks to show up :)

I used to have a huge vinyl collection back in the day. Sold it all cheap to friend who was a vinyl connoisseur, who has since passed.

That is so cool! My brother and I got into music before we even hit our teens, but he then went on to be a journalist who also covered the local music scene (and all of Scotland) so he amassed a huge collection of vinyl and then CDs. Still has most of it. I concentrated on gaming instead! But we both like a beer, and local breweries are great.

I have Tera Bytes of music in digital on my computer. A HUGE collection. Thousands of albums covering everything pretty much 1920's to 1990's. Doo Wop, Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Classic Country, Classical, Folk, R&B, Motown, Classic Blues, Jazz, Big Band & Swing, a lot of it quite rare!

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

Would you say there’s enough bodies around to animate dead and let me raise six undead to fight with us? His alignment is neutral good. Considering the situation we’re in and all the dead bodies with the battle that happened would be more concerned about his companions surviving and would do what would be necessary to help.  If I can, I can raise up to six

Are you allowed? You probably can't cast evil spells, or is that just 3.x edition?

As per the 1E PHB: -

"The act of animating dead is not basically a good one, and it must be used with careful consideration and good reason by clerics of good alignment."

So it's probably a last resort, which you could (IMO) argue plausibly in this case.

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

I would say this is the last resort. Because there are 20+ goblins that we have to either fight or get away from. Unless there’s another fireball, which I believe you’re out of spells, we’ll be pretty screwed. So this is more or less the last resort because being captured by goblins is not good and if it doesn’t happen, we’ll most likely lose. There’s a bunch of dead bodies, still lying around from the big battle. So it’s not digging up the dead and raising them. It’s a matter of necessity spell. That would be my justification for using it, and my alignment is neutral good

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

So, I have initiative rolls of 6 for both Cos and Teodor.
Neither Malachai or Strotdrik have rolled yet.
I have Cos trying to do several things, Teodor casting a spell, Malachai holding his position, and Strotdrik casting a spell.
Anything else?

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

Why wouldn’t I have casted that raise the dead spell as soon as the fight started? And we didn’t even get to roll initiative before the fight began. I I checked on Monday to see if you responded to the OOC for my question “ was there enough bodies around to raise the dead for 6 bodies” But you hadn’t so I figured I’d check tomorrow night.(tonight now) Then when I checked, all hell was breaking loose before my question was answered which is why I hadn’t put up an action or rule initiative.21:54, Today: Strotdrik Sunshield rolled 1 using 1d6. –Also, how would we have not seen a group of 20+ goblins in the forest or heard them? Three of us have infrared vision so I would think at least one of us would spot them, especially with the scouts on in front specifically looking for ambush. Also 21:56, Today: Strotdrik Sunshield rolled 13 using 1d20.  Spell save. I get a +4 for 18 wisdom so it’s a 17

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

In reply to Strotdrik Sunshield (msg # 152):

Here is what I posted in the Draw thread LAST Thursday, April 11:

quote:
DM Note:
If you start acting > drawing things from pouches or pockets, hurling vials and such or casting spells, you will need to roll initiative...and hope your foes either 1/ roll higher than you or 2/ do not already have arrows/bolts ready to fire.
This scenario would be easier to run if we were sitting around a table, but since we are not, I have to be fair to you and to the NPC's (the "goblins" in this case).
Make sense?

No reply from you.

Before any action, especially when you are facing foes, you have to roll initiative. I asked for that roll twice; heard nothing from you or Malachai. You said you were going to cast animate dead. That's what I had planned for you to do. Here is my message from Monday, April 15:

quote:
So, I have initiative rolls of 6 for both Cos and Teodor.
Neither Malachai or Strotdrik have rolled yet.
I have Cos trying to do several things, Teodor casting a spell, Malachai holding his position, and Strotdrik casting a spell.
Anything else?

Again, no response from you. So, I rolled Initiative for the Goblins and Hobgoblins. My rule in these situations is if you do not roll Initiative for your character, then you automatically act at the end of the round. I'm not going to roll Initiative for players; especially not when I have NPC's to roll for.

You asked:
quote:
how would we have not seen a group of 20+ goblins in the forest or heard them? Three of us have infrared vision so I would think at least one of us would spot them, especially with the scouts on in front specifically looking for ambush.

Good question. Thanks to Teodor's light stone, you didn't see them because it fucked up your infravision.
As for Cos and Mal, Mal heard them and came back to report to you. Goblins and Hobgoblins have infravision too. In fact, they probably see in the dark better than you guys. So they hid themselves as best they could and I rolled to see whether any of you spotted them. And you didn't. So, you were ambushed.

Even with all of this, your character is a tank. He never got hit by the barrage of arrows and bolts. So, I had him beginning his spell at the end of the round:
quote:
Thinking they had weathered the hail of arrows pretty well, Strotdrik concentrates on casting a spell, now that the goblins and hobgoblins have revealed themselves.

But then the leader, who's initiative was 4, tossed a thunderstone near Strot and Teodor, thus, effectively ending the round for them.

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

Appreciate the response and explanation. I was very confused about the order. That cleared up a lot. I asked earlier on the 10th of April about
Strotdrik Sunshield:
Would you say there’s enough bodies around to animate dead and let me raise six undead to fight with us? His alignment is neutral good. Considering the situation we’re in and all the dead bodies with the battle that happened would be more concerned about his companions surviving and would do what would be necessary to help.  If I can, I can raise up to six

I was waiting for a response from you if there were enough bodies around to where this spell would be effective. This would be my first move if I could raise 6 otherwise it would be hold person. Just miscommunication. I should’ve put my intentions in the earlier statement, had a follow up, and should’ve rolled initiative regardless. And did a 17 not save To where I can still cast a spell this round?

Re: OOC 5 - New Place for Chatter, Gripes, & Reminders

Apologies for not answering your question. The answer would depend on where you are. If at the edge of the battlefield (or on it) there are plenty of bodies. Where you are right now, probably not.

As to whether you were able to get a spell off, the answer is no, since you were interrupted in your spell-casting by the blast of the thunderstone...
But...now that I think about that; the thunderstone was thrown on segment #4 and you didn't really start casting your spell until the end of the round, segment #6.
So, yes, go ahead and cast your spell. I'll wait on your actions at the end of round 1 before posting round 2.

Btw, and this goes for everyone, go ahead and roll for initiative and state your actions for round 2.
Malachai is bleeding and unconscious :)

Cos Pendar:
Cos initial thought was to go for the leader, but as he started to take a step in that direction balls of fire ripped toward the leader.  Cos retargeted on the closest big guy.  Invisible he attempted to slip past his guard and delivery a crippling blow.

What about the card/creature?
